Ahem, you said "nothing". Winning conference championships is "something". Obviously the bar is quite a bit higher than winning conference trophies, but winning them is one of the goals the teams strive for during the season. It is not the ulitmate goal of the players, coaches, or fans, but a goal nonetheless.

Didn't Dave Kolpack call UND North Dakota's flag ship a couple of weeks ago. Let's take his advice.... THE North Dakota Flagship. The logo could be the jolly roger. The hockey players could be called ice pirates. Basketball.. deck hands. The football team the crew, with lineman as the lubbers. And UND puts another opponent into Davy Jones locker.

Disappointments are part of life. I don't expect everything to be peachy every day. UND will have up days and down. I am definitely looking forward to what the future holds for UND athletics. Big Sky membership in 5 days, new television contracts, new hockey conference in 2013 and maybe one day... a new IPF.

If Hurricanes, Cyclones and Golden Hurricanes are okay, Tsunamis should be okay. Although, what would a logo look like? Would it be similar to Tulane's Green Wave?

Maybe some creative type with waaaay too much time on their hands can make a "downfall" video about the issue.

Last year UND football took the Great West title. UND men's hockey won the Broadmoor Trophy (which UND has won 3 years in a row). Both the men's and women's hockey teams participated in the NCAA tournaments. The men's BB team took it to your boys. Yeah, "nothing".

The name Spitfires hit me yesterday, but when I looked it up, the Windsor hockey team is using that name.

You do realize that the 13 schools is football only. Other sports will be 11 schools. Yes, it will be more difficult to win conference championships, but will be that much sweeter when UND wins them.
