  1. I have never been in Suite 49, but have been in a few Panera's. Would the building work functionally for a Panera? Location-wise I would think it would be great. A place with great food and breads that don't cost and arm and a leg with free wi-fi. Place it near a bunch of college students. Ideal location for Panera. By the way, we ate at one last night, which gave me the idea.
  2. Now wait a minute, you can't be talking about this Tom Douple...
  3. UWF aims to boost athletics Add another one to the mix.
  4. Wow, nice half of basketball Sioux. Thanks for the updates guys.
  5. Could Schuler be the answer to what ails the Sioux? Graham extends streak of regular-season wins
  6. Sorry Virg, the NCC was nice in it's day. Do you really think that UND should have stayed in the same division with UM-Crookston and Upper Iowa? The more I think about the situation, UND should have gone Division I long ago.
  7. Hunting season opening day. Hopefully neither team schedules a home game for that day.
  8. I have never seen a BB game in the Betty, but have watched a few BB games in the Ralph from a suite. I thoroughly enjoyed the games. I think attendance would increase if games were moved into the Ralph, but would the net profit be higher when you consider the labor involved in changing the venue from hockey to BB and back and the operating overhead associated with the Ralph. DickGraham - I only recall UND using the high bleachers for the Sioux/Bison games. Those were some packed games and wow, the fights that would break-out in the crowd. The good old days of 30-40 years ago.

    Jobs

Good resources, but I've never been hired for an advertised job. Mine have either come from word of mouth or knocking on doors. The best job I ever got was from simply walking in the door with a resume in my hand.

    Jobs

It struck me this morning while reading the WSJ how fragile the job market is. I see where the third largest chemical company in the world was contemplating filing for Chapter 11. You never know whose job may get axed. I thankfully still have a job, but you never know what the new year may bring. I was at a recent state BOD meeting for our industry and heard stories about contractors in South Florida that have no work and are waiting for the phone to ring. We have seen the bid market drop to margins near 0% profit just to keep the employees working and cash flowing. With all of this in mind I thought we could start a thread for people who either have lost their jobs, are looking for a job due to their current uneasy situation or for those who know of jobs that may need to be filled or possible leads. Jim, if this thread is out of line for SS.com, go ahead and delete it.
  11. As long as that color isn't red.... Seeing red over scarlet-marked homework
  12. Dave, many of us are just being realistic. The name is all but gone. We don't like it but it is just a matter of time. If your wife changed her name would you feel anything less for her? UND may change the moniker, but the school and tradition will endure.
  13. I agree. Basketball has changed from a game of skill to a muscle game. The NBA of today is unrecognizable compared to the gane of the 1980's. I don't even watch it anymore. College BB is headed in the same direction, sadly.
  14. First, congratulations on the win against Iowa State. Second, his name is Griffan not Griffith. Lastly, I'm glad that he didn't "stick" with UND. From what I recall he wanted to go to SDSU, but waited too long and Nagy filled the spot with someone else. So he commits to UND, lasts one semester and quits. On the way out the door he makes snide comments about Jones. Sounds like he either has some growing up to do or just a bad egg. For Griffan's sake I hope he just has some growing up to do. It has been my observation that employers will put up with talented people with bad attitudes for only so long and then kick them to the curb. BTW, just checked the box score and find that while Griffan did have 3 steals, he scored 0 points in 31 minutes. He must be known more for his defensive skills. Congrats to SDSU on their win.
  15. Alerus, UND release details of 10-year lease agreement I find it quite interesting that the agreement between the Alerus and UND would include an attendance clause such as this. There is no attendance requirement for FCS (I-AA) and won't be for the next 10 years, if ever. I-A?
  16. I had a new interlocking ND logo a while back here.
  17. UND's budget data for year ending 06-30-08 Grand Total Revenues $12,700,648 Grand Total Expenses $12,645,629 Institutional Data for UND In this day and age it is good to see black ink rather than the red that is bleeding across the country. Keep it going Sioux.
  18. Scott Herring named chief financial officer for athletics
  19. Wow!!!! Can we log these goals somewhere and use them later in the season? Nice job, guys.
  20. Nice last game for Freund and something to build on for next year for Bamba and Murray...
  21. Annual UND powwow scheduled for spring 2009 canceled Are people starting to lose their desire to support the powwow due to the ongoing dispute over the nickname??
