Nickname/Logo Affecting Conference Affiliation

You know there is an unwritten rule about posting pictures of The Sicatoka on SS. -
Going back to the color theme for a nickname. How about The North Dakota Green This could be the logo... $ We could trademark it. The school mascot could be a man in a business suit. The school song could be Money by Pink Floyd. Every time the school score a goal or a touchdown you hear a cash register over the PA.

McFeeley on the Summit/Nickname Issue. -
Kind of what I was thinking. You need to have a more constant flow of customers which you would get most of the year with school in session. Also, if the Bronson property is to be fully developed, as has been planned, cafes and coffee shops would be preferable on a college campus than a bar/restaurant. The percentage of students that can legally drink in ND is small. Why not cater to a bigger percentage with something like a Panera?

One of my little quirks. I prefer honesty over dis-honesty. Why do you prefer to be lied to? -

If it doesn't matter, why did Gene Taylor come out and say it because the conference wouldn't let him schedule it? Why lie about it? -

Dan, I think the point most Sioux fans are making is if NDSU doesn't want to schedule North Dakota because UND didn't schedule NDSU five years ago, fine. But don't use the excuse that the Summit League won't let you because of the nickname/logo and hide your real reasons. Be a man about it and give the real reason. -

Did you think this one up on your own. -
I have never been in Suite 49, but have been in a few Panera's. Would the building work functionally for a Panera? Location-wise I would think it would be great. A place with great food and breads that don't cost and arm and a leg with free wi-fi. Place it near a bunch of college students. Ideal location for Panera. By the way, we ate at one last night, which gave me the idea.

Wow, nice half of basketball Sioux. Thanks for the updates guys.

Could Schuler be the answer to what ails the Sioux? Graham extends streak of regular-season wins

Sorry Virg, the NCC was nice in it's day. Do you really think that UND should have stayed in the same division with UM-Crookston and Upper Iowa? The more I think about the situation, UND should have gone Division I long ago.

Hunting season opening day. Hopefully neither team schedules a home game for that day.

I have never seen a BB game in the Betty, but have watched a few BB games in the Ralph from a suite. I thoroughly enjoyed the games. I think attendance would increase if games were moved into the Ralph, but would the net profit be higher when you consider the labor involved in changing the venue from hockey to BB and back and the operating overhead associated with the Ralph. DickGraham - I only recall UND using the high bleachers for the Sioux/Bison games. Those were some packed games and wow, the fights that would break-out in the crowd. The good old days of 30-40 years ago.

Good resources, but I've never been hired for an advertised job. Mine have either come from word of mouth or knocking on doors. The best job I ever got was from simply walking in the door with a resume in my hand.

It struck me this morning while reading the WSJ how fragile the job market is. I see where the third largest chemical company in the world was contemplating filing for Chapter 11. You never know whose job may get axed. I thankfully still have a job, but you never know what the new year may bring. I was at a recent state BOD meeting for our industry and heard stories about contractors in South Florida that have no work and are waiting for the phone to ring. We have seen the bid market drop to margins near 0% profit just to keep the employees working and cash flowing. With all of this in mind I thought we could start a thread for people who either have lost their jobs, are looking for a job due to their current uneasy situation or for those who know of jobs that may need to be filled or possible leads. Jim, if this thread is out of line for SS.com, go ahead and delete it.

Dave, many of us are just being realistic. The name is all but gone. We don't like it but it is just a matter of time. If your wife changed her name would you feel anything less for her? UND may change the moniker, but the school and tradition will endure.
