  4. UND athletics: So far, so good
  5. Pretty sharp. Nice work.
  6. Ed board member breaks down UND nickname controversy I like Grant Shaft, although I still can't figure out how he got the MVW in the 1977 City Wrestling Championships, but is this really the Board's business? Should they meeting with conference officials?
  7. Grant Shaft coming up shortly on KNOX. Streaming link on the site.
  8. Welcome to America in the 21st century.
  9. I wonder how much contact there was between the board, Kelley, Faison, coaches, REA, and the stakeholders in this sudden decision. For it to be an 8-0 vote, there must have been a lot of discussion (cover) for the board members to vote to end the use of the Sioux name. I listed to Grant Shaft on KNOX this week and he talked alot about the Summit. I wouldn't think that a SBoHE board member would have a great deal of contact with a conference official. That would fall more with Kelley and Faison.

  11. Read pages 5, 6 and 12 for most of the information in regards to REA. Settlement Agreement
  12. Ditto.
  13. KNOX has just confirmed the same. Vote was 8-0. Process to begin in October and be completed by August 2010.
  14. Summit League 'intervening issue'
  15. I see that the meeting is being held in Dickinson. The most remote location, campus-wise, from UND. If you are going to announce earth-shattering news that would be the place to do it.
  16. UND seeks UAV major
  17. And the something doesn't sound good. Nuts.
  18. Some nice tidbits from Wayne.... The UND men's basketball team will open its 2009-10 season at a three-day tournament at the University of Montana. The tournament tentatively is set to begin Nov. 13. The Sioux will play Montana, Boise State and Loyola Marymount in Missoula. The Sioux are still recruiting for the 2009-10 season. One more player may be added within the next few weeks. Northern Iowa recently offered Ames High School standout Doug McDermott a scholarship. The Ames junior is the son of Iowa State coach Greg McDermott, a former UND assistant.
  19. Meet Fighting Sioux student-athletes and coaches at the "Ultimate Fan" Experience Nice bit of marketing to the folks out west.

  21. Maybe we can have ACORN in charge of providing the attendance numbers to the NCAA. :
  22. I thought about the Alerus ballrooms when I hatched this idea, but didn't know what the capacities were. If this 15,000 could be met utilizing the ballrooms that would be even better and make things real interestng. The reason that I suggested the Ralph, is that you would have to average 15,000 and, like I said, I wasn't sure what the total capacities were for The Alerus, inclusive of suites and ballrooms. If the numbers were close to 15,000 it would be hard to average 15,000. Could you count the people in the Canad waterpark too?
  23. You are in all likelihood correct that the NCAA would change the rules, but I thought the rule was there to prevent schools from going to the FBS level that shouldn't be there. If a school, such as UND, didn't have a large enough venue and used a dual venue system until such time as they had a permanent 15,000+ venue, why should the NCAA care? The 15,000 benchmark of support would be met, just not in a single venue. This is all an argument of exercise anyway.
  24. Boortz!
