I wonder how much this comes into play.... http://web1.ncaa.org/app_data/apr2009/667_2009_apr.pdf

I was over in Louisiana over the weekend and saw this. I had to take a second look to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me.
-
Yes, but not this one, this one or this one. Evidently Brett made an impression with the Canadian media.

Okay, to add to my curiosity, how is that NDSU gets over $1M in "Direct State or other government support" and UND gets $0?
-
I was over at Egriz and saw that someone pulled up some financial information from a USA Today website .... http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/ncaa-finances.htm Pick a year and pick a school and you can get the revenue and expenses. Can someone in the know explain what exactly "Direct state or other government support" and "Direct Institutional Support" mean. I understand the terms, but how is athletics funded through these vehicles? UND 2008-2009 Ticket sales $3,465,362.00 21.57% Student fees $2,895,691.00 18.03% Guarantees $344,250.00 2.14% Contributions $2,608,953.00 16.24% Compensation and benefits provided by a third party $0.00 0% Direct state or other government support $0.00 0% Direct institutional support $3,901,735.00 24.29% Indirect facilities and administrative support $909,026.00 5.66% NCAA/conference distributions incl.all tourn. rev. $102,918.00 0.64% Broadcast, television, radio, and internet rights $102,467.00 0.64% Program sales, concession, novelty sales, and parking $13,008.00 0.08% Royalties, licensing, advertisements and sponsorships $616,246.00 3.84% Sports camp revenues $783,829.00 4.88% Endowment and investment income $0.00 0% Other $318,777.00 1.98% Subtotal operating revenue $16,062,262.00

Big Sky or Summit/MVFC? There will be plenty of movement and opportunities in the coming months and it may help UND's situation to not be tied down to conference affiliation at this time. Go Sioux!!!

Instead of adding a new topic, I thought this was good a place as any... Cuts to higher education could shutter some campuses

L-3 Link Simulation & Training and University of North Dakota sign memorandum of understanding to form Unmanned Aircraft Systems Training Center

I believe it did say North Dakota last night.

L-3 Communications to work with UND on training center Cool stuff going on.

Interesting Rumors on Big Ten and hockey expansion
GeauxSioux replied to star2city's topic in Men's Hockey
They do have club hockey at UT. The Chapparal Ice (aka the Bat Cave) is also home to the Austin Ice Bats.. Regardless, hockey at UT is not bloody likely. -
I caught the game on XM radio last night on the way home. XM carried the WGN feed. I didn't know that Troy Murray was part of the Blackhawks broadcast team. Another UND connection.

A blog response to Mr. Cox's piece.... Is the Blackhawks Logo Offensive? Until recently I didn't know that Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican Independence Day nor that most Mexicans don't celebrate it. It is celebrated in Puebla and is the date of a great battle, but I digress.
-
On the positive side Murray is looking good for next fall.
-
Added Ryan Campbell from Aurora CO to the list. I got a partial from google, but you need to subscribe to SuperPrep.com to get full story....
-
Added Rashod Byers from Jacksonville to the list..

I thought it meant Crazy Drunk, too and then my cousins husband said hyper. I thought he was just making that up for his kids until I checked here online. I'm sure 95% of the people in the Superdome would agree with your definitions.

Cox: Offensive Blackhawks logo has got to go

My first attempt at setting up a poll & it didn't go well. No clue how to save choices. My vote, would be for UND to join the Big Sky for all sports. Outside of North Dakota and Minnesota, the biggest centers of UND alums are in Denver, Phoenix and Seattle/Portland area. I can see a lot of Sioux fans going to games at Northern Colorado, Flagstaff and Portland and to a lesser extent Missoula, from these locations.

I probably felt the same way when I first heard it, but hearing it all season on WWL and then experiencing it in the Superdome, it grew on me. I didn't take it personally. Edit: By the way, the definition of "crunk" I heard was "get hyper".

I'llllllll just shut up then.

Licensing company: No new Sioux logo, nickname merchandise designs after Sept. 30
