  3. The Fighting Chippewas?!?!?! Now that would be hostile and abusive to the Sioux Nation!
  4. This will be my first year not being in the Pride so it is also my first actual chance to tailgate, besides marching through it. Are there any rules to know? No glass bottles, etc.? Does the lot open at a certain time? Is it easy to find parking in the tailgate area? I am bringing some friends of mine to their first Sioux FB game. I am just as excited to actually experience my first Sioux tailgate party!!
  5. I have never been in a fantasy football league. I don't follow the NFL very closely but I'm willing to learn. I am sure I will get my butt kicked but I might as well start somewhere. If nothing else you can count me in. When it comes down to it just let me know. I can step in.
  6. I will be there and I am bringing a bunch of friends to their FIRST Sioux FB game. It is my frineds B-Day so I told her the best present I could give her is taking her to a Sioux game. They all go to other colleges in ND but I am converting them to UND fans.
  7. I have been very impressed with NDSU's advertising. Their Super Saturdays theme has been tied in very well with all of their different advertising mediums. I have seen many tv commercials, billboards, posters and newspaper ads all over the state. Still waiting to see if UND is going to do anything. I would hope that they would have some sort of advertising leading up to the first home game. Maybe ads will show up everywhere tomorrow leading up to saturday.
  8. Tom Buning made the trip to Central Washington to watch the game and will be doing an interview during halftime. It will be interesting to see what he has to say. I am sure they will most likely be asking him about the whole DI issue and wanting to restart the games with NDSU. EDIT: Ohhh, and I'm sure they will most likely have to ask about the name issue.
  9. THE SEASON IS OFFICIALLY HERE!!!!!! ONLY 1 MORE WEEK UNTIL I SEE ALL OF YOU AT THE AL!!!!!
  10. I have some questions myself now. I was looking at the NDUS link I posted and looking at some of the other schools. I never realized that MSU-Bottineau used to be NDSU-Bottineau. I was wondering if NDSU ever had any other branch campuses? Also, were UND-Williston and UND-Lake Region the only UND branch campuses? The only other 2 years in ND are Bismarck State and NDSCS, were these ever related to either of the big 2? Or for that matter were any of the 4 years ever connected to them in any way?
  11. The rivalry between UND and NDSU goes back over a century and is not just in sports. The schools have fought over everything from the schools' names to programs offered. No matter what people say UND and NDSU are both great schools. Actually, the comparison between UND and NDSU is very similar to that of the University of South Dakota and South Dakota State University. UND and USD were both started as THE state university. NDSU and SDSU were both started later as Land Grant Institutions. Originally both NDSU and SDSU were called the ND & SD School of Agriculture. Both still focus largely on agriculture but have obviously expanded into other programs. UND and USD however were started as and still are Liberal Art Colleges. UND's main schools are the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, School of Law, and the School of Aerospace Sciences. You can go HERE for information on UND's schools and programs. You can go HERE for NDSU's schools and programs. You can go HERE for USD's schools and programs. And last but not least, you can go HERE for SDSU's programs. As you can see, with UND producing so many of the nations top doctors, lawyers, and pilots, it is pretty obvious that UND definately is the best school in the Dakotas! As far as enrollment, UND is the largest with approximately 13,500 students. NDSU has approximately 12,000students. SDSU has appproximately 10,000. And USD would be the smallest of the 4 schools with just over 8,000 students. The third week numbers should be out shortly, those are the most accurate. Also, all public colleges and universities in North Dakota, whether 2year or 4year are all part of the North Dakota University System. You can check that out HERE if you are at all interested in learning more about any of the other schools in NoDak. If you want to look at these schools more indepth here are their home pages: UND.edu NDSU.edu USD.edu SDSTATE.edu I myself think that all 4 universities have very nice campuses but none of them would be ranked in the top in the nation. I hope this is some of what you were looking for. It is just some quick general info on the schools. I know you didn't ask about USD or SDSU but with the similarities of UND/USD and NDSU/SDSU I thought that I would also mention them.
  12. I was trying to think of a neat saying for this season. This is what I thought of. I thought it would be neat if all of the women's hockey supporters could put something in their signature to show our support. Maybe we could draw some more attention to the program with casual fans. Maybe somebody can come up with something better. Or maybe the team even has a saying of their own we could use. Just a thought. Maybe it's a stupid idea. What do you guys think?
  13. 2 DAYS! I don't know about anyone else but I am getting very excited for the football season to start. Hopefully it is a good game this weekend and all of the question marks are answered quickly in the season.
  14. This should definately be a season where we can build on last years accomplishments. Only loosing 2 players plus the new recruits really seems to set the team up well. However, if I am not mistaken , Bemidji State, the only team below us last season, also only looses 2 players. I might be mistaken about this however. The WCHA should start to even out as far as competition starting this year. I found it interesting that UND and BSU are the only WCHA schools not fully up to the scholarship level yet. I am definately looking forward to attending as many games as possible this season. We have had good attendance as far as women's programs go. Hopefully as the team's success goes up, so will attendance. UND Women's Hockey Season 4: Hunting for More!
  15. Seems like a good agreement. I like how it is for three years, and after the second year, it will be reviewed. This gives them an opportunity to decide if it is an arrangment they want to continue on. Just enough time to see how it works out for everyone while leaving the options open.
  16. I'll play the typical alum and football fan. Sure schools from around the country have been coming and going from DII. That never really had a direct effect on UND. But now UNC, SDSU, and especially NDSU have made the move. Also, when they started talking about DI, we were in the middle of building the Ralph, the Al, the Betty, adding DI women's hockey, and women's soccer. We have since moved into the facilities and know in general what our attendance and revenue/profit potential will be with these buildings. Women's hockey and soccer have played for a few seasons and are establishing themselves. These teams will also help us out with Title IX issues if we make a move to DI. And on top of all of this, we now have the DAC looking at DII. This will most likely make our alumni wonder if we want to continue playing NDSU, SDSU, and UNC or accept being in the same division as the DAC. If you ask me alot has changed since 2000.
  17. Mr. Bunning may begin to wonder if he should have ever taken the AD job here. The nickname issue started before he even got to see his first athletic game at UND and now I would assume the alumni may really start pushing for DI. On top of that he has a budget to work out. He is going to have his hands full for quite some time.
  18. With the first home football game only 10 days away and all of the students back on campus are they going to do any advertising at all?? I haven't seen anything lately. Maybe I have just missed everything but you would think that this would be the time to really push the football games. P.S. This is my 600th post!
  19. 3 DAYS
  20. 1930's Aparently they are going all the way back. Where was this at and what did it look like?
  21. Less than a week! Less than a week! 6 days till Central Washington 13 days until West Chester
  22. Don't forget Wisconsin, Ohio State and Denver U as other regular season conference foes.
