  1. The February minutes will pull up for me but the January minutes will not. I am not sure if it is the link or just my computer acting up. EDIT: I just noticed that there are a few too many http:'s in the address link if you would want to change it Sic.
  2. Saturday!!! Why don't they just have it out at University Park and say that all of the drunk college kids are there in support of the GFAFB. That would be a couple extra thousand right there and would make the rally a little more entertaining
  3. I am one person who does believe that NDSU's football team will be successful. I also believe that they will have other sports that will be moderately successful such as wrestling. I am guessing that UND will one day also be in DI. But I like the approach that UND is taking, slow and prepared. I don't understand why NDSU didn't look at fixing up the BSA, work on schollarship endowments, and have a treasure chest of money in hiding before taking the leap to DI. Five years ago I never would have thought UND would be able to last in DI. But look at what UND has done in the last few years: new facilities for most of our sports, added women's hockey and got soccer going again, and from my understanding a campaign to raise money for a new athletic building next to Memorial stadium could be coming rather soon. I truely believe both UND and NDSU could become nationally competative DI schools.
  4. Another school looking at DI. I wasn't sure where to stick this so I am just throwing out there for people to check out. West Georgia looks at DI I thought that last quote was a pretty good one.
  5. Was there any new "news" in that report at all? Just the Forum trying to waste space and I am sure tomorrow that the Herald will have a 3 page spread about the issue.
  6. Like you pointed out geography plays a huge role. Kennesaw State and North Florida have DI conferences all around them and UND and NDSU obviously don't. For them to move up to DI with a conference in hand was not that big of a deal. For UND that really isn't an option. Basically our only chance for that would be if the 'SUs do get this new conference going with the other independants and invite UND to join. If NDSU and SDSU were to be invited to the BSC they may help us also get in, but with all of the love between UND and NDSU, I don't see the Bison bending over backwards to help us move to DI.
  7. When i was touring the capital once, there was a senator from California up studying our educational system. He told us a story about how every state he flies into they always say the same thing, "that big dome over there is the capital." He said he was amazed when he flew into Bismarck and saw our capital building. We have a very unique capital, why not show it off. I would much rather see that than an empty wheat field with some old western movie scene on the quarter.
  8. I am disappointed. I am not a fan of either. Let's just show the rest of the country that all ND has to offer is empty spaces. Why not put something on there like the state capital building with a pic of sakakawea. It would show one of our most famous residents and our very unique capital.
  9. What does Fargo need another convention center for? The civic center in downtown Fargo just went through a major remodel. The fargodome is having to come up with more creative events to hold to keep its schedule full. Plus, there are 2 brand new venues sitting just north of fargo. The Red River Valley is getting watered down for venues. I agree that F/M could use a decent hockey facility. But if they needed a new mid-size convention center, why did they spend all of that money remodeling the civic center which this would essentially replace.

    CHA

CHA offers incentives I'm still supporting my theory of UM-Crookston stepping up to DI in the CHA. This would definately make the transition easier!!

    CHA

I have thought about all of the schools you have mentioned. I have often wondered why USD hasn't taken a more closer look at it. With the 2 'SUs moving to DI, they are one of the few (besides Auggie is there any?) NCC schools without DI hockey. I understand that their athletic department is in tough shape right now as far as funding(title IX) but especially with SDSU moving DI I would think that they would take a closer look at atleast adding one or two DI sports (men's and women's hockey). Also Grand Valley is a strong DII school in the middle of all of these schools with DI hockey, you would think that they would take a close look at it. P.S. I have had too much to drink tonight so I am going to bed!!!! P.S.S. I still put my money on UM-C, to be followed by USD and/or GVSU.

    CHA

Even though it is a long shot... I still put my money on UM-Crookston!!! They have more of a chance than NDSU, which alot of people think will still happen.

    CHA

If MSU-Moorhead got a DI hockey team before NDSU, 2/3 of Fargo and the NDSU supporters would !@$! their pants and regret the DI move!!!!!! But quite frankly, I don't see that happening (the NDSU Hockey thing). Quite frankly, I see the University of Minnesota, Crookston and Minot State University having DI hockey programs before NDSU ever does. If you ask me, they missed the boat by going DI-AA and will not have hockey for a couple decades. If they had just waited a few years on the DI thing, they could have added hockey and been just as happy and moved the rest with UND in a few years.

    CHA

Just throwing out an idea here and I am sure everyone is going to laugh. But like I said, just coming up with some ideas. UM-Crookston. I know it would be no long term fix to the CHA but in the short run they could be an option. In my opinion almost anything should be done to keep the CHA alive to allow other programs an opportunity to join DI hockey in the future. As has been pointed out a DIII school moving up is their most likely bet, UMC plays DIII but is actually one of only a few schools classified as DII in hockey. I understand UMC just moved to DII, and like NDSU, is still trying to build up it's other programs. Funding would be tight. As RD17 pointed out here: siouxsports.com UMC is currently in the process of hiring a full-time athletic fundraiser and increasing athletic scholarships. One of their biggest issues would be their hockey arena. Who knows, maybe they could even go as far as playing at the REA in Thief River: again, just throwing out ideas!! I know it is a long shot but I would assume that UMC had grander visions of DI when they started their program and through the move to DII. With the CHA in a hard spot, maybe they would be willing to work some things out for the first few years to help keep UMC's costs down. Again, no one kill me. Just throwing out random ideas.

    CHA

With Air Force leaving the CHA to join Atlantic Hockey, the CHA is down to 5 members. The CHA must find at least a 6th member to maintain it's autobid. I was just wondering what everyone's opinions are as to who might be joining the CHA or what options the confernce has.
  17. It is nice to see UMC is looking at creating more fundraising for it's athletics. It would be nice if UMC could be more competative in the NSIC. Also, I think we are more likely to see other NAIA schools in the area moving up to DII (read Minot State) than dropping down. Maybe the folks in Minot would like to convince UMC to move to the DAC-10 so that Minot could replace them in the NSIC. That would be quite the back-stabbing

So does anybody know if the board will be up anytime soon? Usually it only takes a day or two to get boards back up and running. This has been down for quite some time now.
