Under 2...lets go sioux.
-
Great play by Gleason.........And why aren't the Schwartz brothers in the NHL? 4-3 Sioux.
-
McMillan-Parks-O'Donnell line has all the makings of becoming a Pony Express line if they are all around for four years. Good chemistry with the puck coming out of the zone.
-
Wow.....great shot.
-
Dell with some nice play to keep the Tigers off the score sheet on this powerplay.
-
I wish the Sioux could play CC every game....best games of the year are always against the Tigers. Got to find a way to close out the game. Win the third period, and get two big points.
-
Lets hope the Sioux get their first sweep of the season tonight, and start to turn the corner! Here are the lines as per Brad. Some changes for the Sioux, with the third line, and Pattyn not centering the fourth unit. UND’s lines 29 Brock Nelson–10 Corban Knight–7 Danny Kristo 11 Derek Rodwell–9 Mario Lamoureux–27 Carter Rowney 21 Brendan O’Donnell–16 Mark MacMillan–15 Michael Parks 28 Stephane Pattyn–13 Connor Gaarder–20 Joe Gleason 4 Derek Forbort–24 Ben Blood 2 Andrew MacWilliam–5 Nick Mattson 18 Dillon Simpson–22 Andrew Panzarella 32 Aaron Dell 31 Brad Eidsness 35 Tate Maris Colorado College’s lines 8 Jaden Schwartz–13 Rylan Schwartz–27 William Rapuzzi 16 Alex Krushelnyski–22 Nick Dineen–25 Scott Winkler 9 Dakota Eveland–11 David Civitarese–21 Jeff Collett 12 Archie Skalbeck–23 Tim Hall–15 Andrew Hamburg 10 Gabe Guentzel–4 Joe Marciano 20 Ian Young–6 Peter Stoykewych 5 Aaron Harstad–28 Mike Boivin 31 Joe Howe 39 Josh Thorimbert

PS: The Johnson kid and the LaDue kid are great hockey players. In no way do I believe that Vaaler insurance has anything to do with them playing for the Sioux in the future. Just pointing out that every university has had their Willy Marvin at some point in time.
-
I think my point was the fact that sometimes players end up at certain institutions for other reasons than their athletic ability. In the instance of the Parises, I believe the elder was brought in effort to keep the younger in Grand Forks for a longer period of time. But I think everyone and their hunting dogs know that.

Other than the Schwartz line the Sioux match up well with the Tigers. Hopefully the Sioux can match the Lamoureax line up with the Schwartz brothers as much as possible. Can not take an abundance of penalties against the tigs.....their powerplay moves the puck better than some NHL teams with the extra man.

Hahahaha.....calling a spade a spade. Jordan Parise was your average USHL goaltender, who just happened to end up at UND. Take nothing away from Jordan, the kid played lights out in the net for UND, and won them some hockey games they probably shouldn't have won (darn near won them a national championship). But I think we all know how/why he ended up in a Sioux uniform.
-
I know that officials are pretty lenient on too many men, but this is getting ridiculous.....Bemidji could have been called for too many men like four times already. On the penalty kill they had five guys (other than the goalie) on the ice for three seconds and even the broadcast crew thought it should have been called.

If he tries to come back it does. If he makes an appearance in one of the Sioux's games after the midway point of the season it doesn't matter if he has played in less than 30% of their games or not he loses the entire season.

Yikes....losing Rocco for 6-8 weeks and maybe the year hurts. Given the start of the season and the age of the player, I'm surprised that Rocco and the coaches didn't opt for surgery. This could be a nagging thing his entire career if he doesn't get it fixed, and he could gain a medical redshirt because of the lack of games he's played in. Got to win games ugly...3-2.....3-1....2-0.... If the Sioux have a one goal lead late in the third period hopefully we don't see the fourth line.....call a timeout.....have a guy pull a Kyle Rau....do something other than put them on the ice. My favorite one is the "goalie equipment issue"
-
Hopefully UND's defense can keep them in the game. Dante Warren will be tough to contain but hopefully Brent Goska plays the best game of his life in his last game in a fighting sioux uniform.

How little must be going on in a person's life to the point where they go on an opposing team's message board only to try and piss people off. I don't mind opposing fans on the board when they come for decent conversation, but when they come on here only to piss and moan and call the team "sue" (amazingly original....amazing....), it makes me feel more sorry for them than upset at them. Its borderline infatuation....sad, but true.....
-
If they're up at 2:30.... The last home game I was a student for during my time at UND was when they played Northern Alabama in the semifinal game in the NCAA DII tournament.....I hope it can get back to that point at some point in time....the Alerus and the student section were fricken nuts that game...

I would love to see a big crowd as well for this one, but just can't see there being more than 10,000 fans. Unless South Dakota brings a load up and fills their allotted section of the stadium I'll guess it will be at the 8,000 to 9,000 level. Last game of the season, then done with the probationary period.....finally.....

I've been a naysayer about Mussman all year....but as up and down as this team has been all year long....how in the hell can this team be playing in the conference championship next Saturday? It just, I mean how in the world.... If they win this Saturday and finish the year 8-3...it would be the most disappointing 8-3 conference championship season in the history of Sioux football. And of course, no coach that wins a conference championship would or should lose his job at the end of the season.

In a heartbeat.

I think a lot has to do with Grimaldi getting healthier. As soon as that happens you can equalize the lines a bit. Then you can have Knight, Nelson, Lamoureax, and Grimaldi center lines. That way you can play four lines, and not have a gassed team at the end of the game. My perfect line combos for the meantime would be: McMillan-Knight-Kristo Rowney-Grimaldi-Rodwell Parks-Nelson-Gleason Dickin-Lamoureax-(throw in name of 12th forward who can get the ##### puck out of his own end) And when he gets healthier you put O'Donnell with McMillan and have Knight center those two or Nelson.

So from reading the paper this morning, I guess I took a couple of things from Mussman.... ~Playing like crap against weaker opponents is okay as long as you win..... ~He can't motivate his team to play against an opponent that embarrassed his team at home the last time they played..... ~He doesn't like playing in games his team should win.... ~In relation to point above, is glad to boast about 6-3 record with half of those wins against NAIA schools.... Get a new coach in here...with the new QB from Detroit Lakes...and start over. This isn't the mentality I remember seeing with Sioux football.

The Sioux nearly lost to a team that was trailing Minot State in the fourth quarter in their home stadium in a game earlier this season (might have been last week). Something needs to change in the football program. Maybe getting into the Big Sky next season will make the change happen....then again, I'd rather lose every game in the Big Sky than have UND play close games with NAIA schools.... I hope the change is made at the conclusion of the season....think Bubba.....think Bubba.....

Its kind of unfortunate that Grimaldi is injured because the way that things sit right now Rau is the league ROY. Grimaldi would have to have an unreal finish to the season to catch Rau, and playing hurt doesn't really make that a possibility. I knew Rau was a good player, but the start that he is off to has been fun to watch. Hopefully the Sioux find a way to limit his chances this weekend.

I worry a bit about how the defense has struggled, and of course about the size of the rink. Now when you turn the puck over in your own end you're turning it over in addition to giving the offensive team 15 extra feet in which to work. It works for both teams, and guys like Kristo and Grimaldi truly will shine with the extra space, but the way the Sioux have played in their own end just worries the heck out of me in this series. Five Keys: ~Special teams....don't spend too much time killing penalties. ~Aaron Dell. Needs to play like an All-American this weekend. ~The defensive end....no stupid turnovers. ~Limit Kyle Rau's line ~Greasy goals.....need at least two both nights, and need to get in the face of Patterson. If he sees it he'll likely stop it.
