  1. I am a high school teacher, and this is so true it hurts........You wouldn't believe how many former students I have come back to me and tell me that they "have come back from wherever they started college at (many times because it wasn't the right fit of course), taking a couple courses online, working part time, LIVING WITH MY PARENTS." EDIT* This happens at least 5-6 times a year.
  2. I heard someone say the exact same thing the other day.... I agree with your assessment. By the time it got to McMahon's senior year he played a huge role for the team with faceoffs and enabling the team to play four lines. That being said though, yeah Rodwell will score more!
  3. As long as we're picking most improved for next season I'll throw my hat into the ring. I think Gleason will have a great season. Per Brad it sounds like Gleason will play defense for the most of next season, but I think he'll be a regular in the lineup and put up somewhere near 20 points (with a lot of those coming on the power play). Twenty points may be a bit of a stretch but I think he's capable of being an impact player. In the Rodwell vs. Rowney comparison, I think Rodwell has the bigger impact next season. Although Rowney should have a good season too.
  4. Sad to see him leave, but at the same time he is ready to take the next step. I mean without Frattin this year he was the team MVP. The guy did everything they asked him to, and he was tremendous for the Sioux. I hope he signs with Atlanta....and then gets to play in his hometown when they move to Winnipeg.
  5. This year will be all about defense and goaltending. There are some guys that can score, but I see the Sioux in a lot of 3-2, 2-0 hockey games. With two juniors jumping ship it kind of makes me wonder about a guys like Blood and Eidsness staying. Very glad they're staying though.
  6. Thought the same thing. Its nice to have seniors. A lot of the time nowadays with college hockey you see the two years and out or three years and out. I think we take for granted the value of having senior role players....especially ones that buy into their role by their junior or senior year.
  7. Nothing to do with the Sioux....yet. But I saw that the Force drafted Jordan Nelson from the Alexandria Blizzard who played his high school hockey at Williston High School, and was the North Dakota Senior Athlete of the year last hockey season. Could possibly be the next kid with North Dakota ties after Lamoureax to play for the Sioux. He did have 41 points for a team that wasn't overly talented. I wonder if he's anywhere close to UND's radar.
  8. Agreed with the last two posts. I don't think you can put all of the eggs into the basket with Kristo-Knight-Gregoire on the top line. Put Miller up there, and let Kristo and Grimaldi play together on the second line. If Gleason ends up playing forward I wonder if he becomes a fourth line winger with the Lamoureax line.
  9. I wasn't ripping on the NAHL people. I was just referring to the fact that UND rarely takes players from that league.
  10. I am absolutely amazed that you knew that or found that as quickly as you did. Well done. Both guys didn't see a ton of time for the Sioux. Maybe this means that this guy won't see a ton of time for the Sioux.
  11. Made me laugh... Not surprised the Sioux signed another defenseman. What does surprise me is the kid played the last year in the NAHL. I know he did spend some time in the USHL, but I can't remember the last time a player from the NAHL or formerly the AWHL came directly to UND (help me out here wise Sioux followers)? I wonder why he ended up up in Alaska? I wonder if the size of the kid perked the coaches interest (6'4). Or maybe his plus 18 rating? He did have 90 penalty minutes, so maybe he has a mean streak....
  12. Yeah, there have actually been psychological research studies done with sensation and perception that have tried to prove this theory. Can't remember if they proved or disproved the theory. I want to say that they proved the theory.
  13. Here's a Sioux fan that is thrilled to see Eids back in Grand Forks for another year. Two All-WCHA goaltenders pushing each other in practice and for playing time all throughout the hockey season.....I'll take that any day of the weeek. Dell should stay with the white pads, Eidsness should go back to the black pads. Like someone already said, this is a good thing for Gothberg as well so he can have a full season in the USHL of being "the guy".
  14. My favorite moment of the 2011 season was the comeback win against UNO at Omaha. What a tremendous game to listen too. Back and forth the entire way with the Sioux pulling it out at the end with Dell getting the win in relief. Second place is the sweep at Wisconsin. That was nice too.
  15. I believe that a majority of the faculty are for keeping the nickname. I bet if you polled it by departments everyone could guess the buildings that would not be in support.
  16. USA wins 5-4 in OT over Canada at the U-18 hockey championships in Germany. Miller had one helluva game for team USA scoring a goal, with two assists, and finishing the game +3. The U.S. did blow a three goal lead in the third period, but won in O.T. Grimaldi finished the game +1 with two penalty minutes. They play Sweden in the championship game. Kristo-Gregoire-Miller....gotta believe right?
  17. I think the Sioux easily finish in the top 5 of the league next year. Obviously Denver should be the favorite with all the young good kids they have, and the great goaltending. Here is how I think the WCHA finishes up next season. 1. Denver-If Zucker is back 2. CC-A lot depends on Jaden Schwartz coming back. Lead the team in points after only playing 30 games. 3. North Dakota-Gregoire....Hextall......could be up or down from here. 4. Omaha-A lot like UND, lose their top three, lot of guys coming back, also Faulkner. 5. Wisconsin-Do not return a goaltender with college hockey experience.....yikes. 6. Minnesota-Patterson....and......Rau maybe? Will be a young squad that looks for an identity all year. I hope they are at the final five though. 7. Duluth-Some good recruits, but they lose alot, and could have to put a new system in place with a new coaching staff. 8. SCSU-Could be ahead of this point....a tough team to read. 9. Anchorage-Lost Tommy Grant, but have some decent goaltending coming back. Showed some real grit at the end of the year. But don't return tons of points. 10. Bemidji-Losing Matt Read hurts, but they have some great goaltending coming back with Bakala. 11. Mankato-Youds gone.....Phil Cook will see fifty pucks a game.... 12. Tech-If Cary Eades is their coach they won't finish twelfth in the league. There...I said it.

    Spring Game

Anybody else think they should play the game at Memorial Field? Or is the stadium condemned or something?
  19. Horrible location.....glad that it got booed at the championship game. I wish they put the fricken thing in a hockey city every single year, or in a hockey facility every single year (yes, I'm looking at you Ford Field). Why not Chicago? The Qwest Center in Omaha? New York? Newark? But of all places Tampa....... If not those, jump back to Boston, Detroit (Joe Louis though), St. Louis, Buffalo, Columbus.
  20. Would love to see Chay make it up for a couple games with the Wild. I'd hate to see them add some excitement to their lineup....

I guess what I have enjoyed is how much this championship has meant to the fans of Duluth. I read some interviews on line with long time fans and talked to some after the game, and just the gratification that they got was something nice to see. Its been so long since the Sioux got #7, that the next time they get it done it will mean that much more to me. Duluth has a lot of underclassmen. They could easily be back next year. Lose the goalie, lose Fontaine, probably Faulk, but if both Connolly's stay they have a good foundation built. Plus Brown is one helluva player....wow.
  23. Congrats to your team. The better team won that game, Duluth was very deserving of the championship.
  24. You spending your time on this SIOUX website trying to tick people off is classy. Heck, your profile picture is ultra classy. I didn't realize that you were such a big Michigan fan....wow....classy..... You of all people talking about class? $100 says that you'll come back here and make more stupid posts.....
  25. Here is what I'll miss about each of them.... Davidson-Did whatever was asked of him. A true team guy. LaPoint-Coming back from the injury, and elevating his game. A solid four year defenseman. Marto-Could play anywhere they asked him to play. And was successful wherever they put him. Trupp-His creativity with the puck. The goal against the gophers was amazing......He scored a couple of goals that I'll never forget. Malone-Put his body on the line over and over again and was never afraid to go into the rough areas with the puck. I think he'll have a good career in the NHL. Frattin-Just the comeback he made. Turning his life around. A lot of players would have just took the money. He made things right with the university. Genoway-Great skating ability, and maneuverability with the puck. I'm so glad that we got to see him play another year. Talk about a kid that was hit with injuries time and time again, but always came back. No, they didn't win a national championship, but I still consider them to be an extremely successful class. Two McNaughton cups, two Broadmore trophies, two frozen fours. I know success is based on championships at UND, but these guys played their hearts out each time they stepped on the ice.
