  1. Good points...... I'll throw myself into those who thought the offense wouldn't miss a beat, but I was definitely wrong. Neither QB is a Manziel type freshman and they'll take their lumps and learning experiences along the way. I'm kind of upset that I thought a Freshman QB in the big sky could have a ton of success. Thought I had more football knowledge....guess not.
  2. I just want to go one game without a 15 year penalty.....just one. Guys are taunted every play, just the way it goes. If you mic'd the guys on the field you'd get a whole library worth of trash talking. To me something that has been consistent in the Mussman era has been the 15 yard penalties. If he's here another ten years, at least clean that up. 9 penalties too....yuck.
  3. I'm still in the Mollberg bandwagon. For people to say that he will forever be remembered in a game where his defense could have given up 70 if Montana kept trying is befuddling. I don't think Tom Brady could have lead the green and white to a victory last night. I don't care who the QB is for the rest of the year really. This team has zero chance of success with the current status of the defense.
  4. Yeah, plus Notre Dame was one of the schools involved last week in Ann Arbor. I'm kind of anxious to see where they decide to set up shop for the show. Maybe the south end where the Fargo Marathon stuff got started when I ran it a few years ago. Don't think there is much room on the west side with all the tailgaiting that goes on over there. Like I said, very cool thing for them to do. UND is off next week, maybe they'll interview Muss.....hahahaha....okay....never mind.
  5. Very very cool thing for them to do. I remember a few years ago when they went to a DIII school, just huge for everyone involved. Guess this could spew a little rivalry up between UND and NDSU. Plenty of UND grads running things in Fargo, and I'm sure one or two will show up. PS: Are there really no good games going on next weekend in the big boy division?
  6. Thanks Wilbur....aka.....captain obvious.....
  7. I think the student section is starting to get a bit of momentum going. I'm hopeful that someday it can get back to what it was on a Saturday against North Alabama......the Alerus was vibrating that day.... At the same time being in the FCS, I think teams are more prepared for the crowd noise and deal with it a lot better. I mean I don't think the crowd should phase Eastern Washington after they hung 49 on Oregon State.
  8. UND 41 Montana 39 Have to outscore them to have any chance.......
  9. If they get to the point where they're like 2-7, they need to throw the rest of the season. Some good QB's coming out of this group of college players. I'd like Murray from Georgia.
  10. With their schedule this year its just impossible for this team to make the playoffs. Instead of Pittsburgh at home, they're in fricken England.....plus playing two road games right away is never easy for any team. Look at their road schedule.... @ Chicago...Always play dope headed in Chicago....always. @ NY Giants....hopefully the bad Eli shows up.... @ Dallas.....Only won there with Randy Moss.... @ Seattle...Loss @ Green Bay....Loss @ Ravens....Loss @ Cincinatti.....Loss This bleeding purple Vikes fan is hoping for 6-10.
  11. Did not realize how horrible their schedule is......yuck...... I'll say 6-10. Also a bleeding purple Viking apologist here.
  12. This concerns me greatly as well. I'm in the pick one guy and go with it group. If its Bartels then come out and say it. Don't take him out of that game yesterday and just roll with it. Whatever guy they choose will have growing pains, but I completely agree with being a one horse carriage. My opinion, that horse is from Detroit Lakes.
  13. Zenner. Ticks me off more that he's a pre fricken med.... Kidding of course. Tough to cheer against a guy like him. Not arrogant or cocky after a run. Just hands the ball to the official. I love how all the writers in Minneapolis still rip on the gophers for letting him get away.
  14. I really can't believe its even a question at this point. Joe was the better QB out there in a game situation. Practice is 1000 times different than a game, so I don't care if Bartels looked better on all the charted throws. Bartels had a little more than a half with the football and turned it over twice and scored seven points. Mollberg put up 21 points and only turned it over one time and had the team in a position to win the game in the fourth quarter. It has to be Mollberg going forward against Montana.

Definitely possible. Have to score every time they touch the ball against both teams. No turnovers. And the defense can't be on the field more than 30 minutes.

Have to beat Montana.....boy.....beating EWU or Montana State....I dunno....

I'm trying to figure out how they get to 7-4..... Montana.....Toss up...... Montana State.....Loss Idaho State.....Win EWU......Loss Sac State.....Win Portland State....Toss up....they played Cal pretty tough. UND has them at their place. NAU....Toss up..... Northern Colorado....Win UC Davis.....Toss up. Really only 3 games left on the schedule I'm confident are W's. Have to get through the next stretch of games at 3-3 to have a shot at 7-4 IMHO.
  18. Ohh come on. Think of the number of Ohio State fans that will be at that game. Its gonna be nuts. Hopefully enough Minnesota fans will get in to make it a home type atmosphere for Minnesota.

    SDSU at UND

Big stat from the game yesterday is the number of rushing attempts by UND. I know they had to throw the football because of the score in the second half but they have to run it more than 17 times.

I respectfully disagree. They didn't run the football as much in the fourth quarter. Not sure why.

    SDSU at UND

    Ufff.....10 penalties for 107 yards....
  22. I thought Joe did a nice job moving the pocket away from the pressure. Did make some tremendous throws that showed off the type of arm that he has.

    SDSU at UND

I'm still befuddled as to why the SDSU coaching staff went away from Zenner in the fourth quarter. At the beginning of the quarter after his TD he needed only 14 yards to tie his record and thats all he had the rest of the game. Had SDSU managed to let this one slip through their fingers the head man would have had to answer some tough game management questions.
  24. Know very little about the QB position. But I think the footwork that Joe showed was on a higher level than Bartels. Accurate?

I think immaturity and discipline played factors. Immaturity in the young QB's, and even in some of the guys they need to step up and make plays like Jackson/Golloday when they dropped balls. Discipline is kind of the same thing we've seen in the Muss era. Personal foul penalties.....missing tackles (I'll throw that in the discipline of making a tackle), and even a play like Bartels not sliding and fumbling the ball away. The more mature and disciplined team won the game. Despite their coaches not running the ball in the fourth quarter for whatever reason.
