  1. We should definitely see a bump in attendance with both NDSU and Montana at home. Should be fun games to attend!
  2. I have no doubt that Bison football fans travel well. However this is a different situation than it was in the Metrodome. The Gophers football stadium will only be in it's second year of operation. Plus they have a new coach which will breath some fresh air into the program and get the fan base a bit excited, at least initially. Factor those two items in and I would have to guess the tickets will be more difficult to come by. I don't see 10-15,000 for this game...I could be wrong but my guess would be closer to 5,000-6,000.
  3. That would be pretty cool if it's true...
  4. So UND football has been around longer than the Sioux nickname. So We should put 100+ years of football tradition at risk for keeping the name?
  5. That may be true, but all of the other sports still face the same sanctions...not being able to host playoff games. I'm not referring to next year because that doesn't matter as most schedules are set and football isn't eligible. There is no way that UND can continue to go forward after next year while remaining on the sanctioned list.
  6. Not quite sure what you mean by this comment? Obviously hockey is not the only sport affected. Football, Women's basketball, and Women's hockey will not be able to host any home playoff games. There are at least a few schools locally (U of Minnesota, U of Wisconsin, U of Iowa) that will refuse to play us in any sport if we are on the Hostile and Abusive list. Not to mention that this could definitely affect recruiting in all sports.
  7. These tickets have been sold. Now it's time to go to bed and try to get some sleep...tomorrow is going to be crazy fun!
  8. I have a buddy who has upgraded his seats so he is looking to sell four all session tickets. They are upper deck, section 222 row 7. Just trying to recoup what he paid for them which was $250 per ticket. PM me if you are interested. We would prefer to sell them as four but would be able to split them up in pairs of two's.
  9. If the Final Five is any indication, green will be the predominant color. There will be some white and black mixed in, but the majority will be green. I will be wearing my green Sioux sweater...
  10. Do Junior colleges have to abide by Title IX. I know Minot State isn't a Junior College, but just curious...
  11. Don't forget Solen High School...Home of the Sioux. http://www.solen.k12.nd.us/Solen.html
  12. I don't like to continually bash the schedule either. But there are a few things with scheduling that make you kind of wonder. One being the SD mines game. Especially when NDSU has offered an every other year deal. I believe that was intially offered for 2012. I wish we would stop being so stubborn and demanding an every year deal them. I would be totally fine with a 10 game schedule if it meant traveling to a decent FCS program...especially one that is 70 miles away. I don't make the schedules and I'm not of the opinion that Mr. Faison is ruining the program. I am just frustrated with a few of the games. I will continue to attend 2-3 games a year and support the program. And if we need to schedule Non-DI opponents...schedule some old NCC teams not these NAIA 1 year/2 year transitionals that we have no history with. If we are worried about losing to the UMD's, Augustana's, and Mankato's of the football world, then that's a whole other issue about the state of our program.
  13. It's debatable. They have been able to get home and home arrangements with teams such as SELA and UNC. UND had to travel to those schools with no return games. They had UNI (2 for 1) come to Vermillion. They have a home game scheduled against EWU. So they have had some dogs on their schedule, but they have also had some good quality FCS teams visit Vermillion. I still don't know how they are able to bring in good FCS programs for one game and UND isn't able to, other than the Stony Brook game. In my opinion they have also done better at scheduling FBS Schools. They have played U of Minnesota. They also have Air Force, Wisconsin, Kansas State on their schedule. Let's not forget that UND pumps an extra million into it's football budget.
  14. To summarize...NDSU has more seats/attendance which means bigger gate which means more dollars to buy an FCS team to come in. That being said, what's up with USD being able to do it? Whether it's the one off games they bring to Vermillion or the home and home arrangements made, they seem to have been able to bring FCS opponents in for home games. Granted, they have had a few head shakers for games as well, but they are managing to bring in FCS opponents where as UND hasn't done as well.
  15. It appears to be one last ditch effort to get the NCAA to compromise. I don't have any email addresses, but it may not be a bad idea to start an email campaign directed at the NCAA. Just remember to be nice...
  16. If this is true...all I can say is wow. I would like to see someone explain the benefits of playing SD Mines instead of USD. I don't care where the USD game is played...
  17. The reason I posted it is because it is a one off game. USD is able to pay for FCS schools to tavel to Vermillion. UCA is the return trip from our visit there a couple of years ago. UCA is a great game and I'm excited for it.
  18. Perhaps this has been posted somewhere but it appears USD is able to bring in non-conference FCS teams. They are bringing in Colgate for a 1 game deal. They also are playing FBS Kansas State. http://www.usdcoyotes.com/sports/news/release.asp?release_id=6290
  19. Ok, now that I've managed to secure tickets, who else is going? I will be in a suite with 20 other Sioux Fans!
  20. I was watching WDAZ sports tonight and they had a quick update on the Sioux vs. Bison basball games this weekend. Due to bad field conditions, the games that were scheduled for Fargo have now been moved to Kraft Field in GF. So all of the games will be played in GF...Looks as though the new infield is already paying dividends. I should mention that the outfield at Kraft Field is still pretty wet however and if it doesn't improve, they may still may have to postpone the games...
  21. I understand the economics involved. What I don't understand is why we have to continuously schedule NAIA-transitioning to Division II teams if we are going to play down. Although I don't like the idea of having to play down, is it really that much more expensive or difficult to try to get an Augustana, UMD, St. Cloud, Mankato, etc to come and play here?
  22. Looking for 4 tickets to the FF...preferably lower bowl. Prefer 4 together but can do 2&2. Willing to negotiate. PM if you're willing to barter!
  23. Man...Where is this SD school at? I thought it was Black Hills State when I first read the post on this game. It's my opinion that this is a poor game on the schedule as well. No reason to be playing down and if we have no other option, why play down to NAIA transition teams? I know times are tough but seriously...if we have to play down, is it really that difficult to at least get a DII that the local fan base is familiar with?
  24. Here is the most recent article I could find on Bradley. http://www.thesouthern.com/news/local/state-and-regional/article_e1aceeec-42b8-11df-ae85-001cc4c03286.html Apparently they are ok as long as there is no Native American imagery associated with the name as you stated.
  25. The only reason Wisconsin scheduled us in softball and basketball is because the NCAA and UND settled out of court and we were temporarily taken off of the sanctions list. When I have the time I will try to actually find their policies on the matter. However, in watching/listening/reading various interviews of their AD's, Presidents, coaches etc. It has been stated before for these schools. And again, all of the other schools you mentioned were removed from the NCAA list for one reason or another. UND may go back on that list. So who should I belive as far as potential outcomes in this matter. Internet message board posters such as you and I or someone who is paid to look out for the betterment of our School and our Athletic Departments. Universities are ran by, as you put it, "Left Leaning PC Police." My guess is that both Faison and Kelly have heard from numerous colleagues about this debate. The nickname opponents are going to continue to make a stink about this until it retired, they will not stop until it does. Perhaps this is what Faison, Kelly, and other Presidents/AD's understand.
