  1. One of my pet peeves with Jones is that he spends half the time out talking to his coaches before he even begins to address the players. Time for a bucket! EDIT: and that's they play they draw up during the timeout
  2. Brekke had to battle for that last bucket. Sioux down one with less than a minute to go...
  3. Both of UVU's big guys have followed out. It would be nice for UND to take advantage and get the ball down low...
  4. And we go to overtime tied at 56.
  5. Man...make a free throw! 14-24 for the night
  6. Huff sure likes to do the look away to his left and then drive to his left move quite a bit. He was a bit out of control on that last drive...
  7. Even though the Sioux are playing well, they sure have not developed much of an inside presence. Their offense tends to revolve around setting screens for the guards so they can attempt to take a couple of dribbles and settle for the jump shot. They don't really even attempt to get a down low game going. btw...what's up with Sweeny constanrly referring to the current temperature? I don't think he needs to emphasize how much colder it is in GF compared to the South Pole!
  8. Trust me, I am...especially the way we played last year.
  9. Agreed... I don't think this is quite right. I have never had an issue bringing beer into the stands to watch football. Perhaps he meant to say the student section doesn't allow beer.
  10. Justin Anderson had two sisters, Kami and Jada, both of whom played DI ball. Kami at Stanford and Jada at Maryland. One of my classmates, Mike Fitzner, played at UND before transferring. More recently there was Jossy Bergen who played at UND. There was quite a bit of talent in that High School in the 80's and 90's. Not so much any more though.
  11. I do remember David Robertson quite well. I was in High School in Valley City at that time. I did not play basketball, but went to all the games since VC was pretty much a basketball town. VC had some pretty good teams in the 90's...just never seemed to have a coach who could put it all together.
  12. Wasn't sure where to post this, but I found it to be a nice quick read... Does anyone know if Qvale was a kid that UND was recruiting? http://bigskyconference.blogspot.com/2011/01/north-dakota-basketball-history-lesson.html Never heard of the Richard Krajewski kid before. I believe Scott Gulseth was also at LSU for a year with Shaq before he transfered to UND.
  13. Looks as though the bill goes in front of legislators tomorrow... http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/190431 If you haven't taken the time to contact your local representative yet, you may want to do it now. I know this bill doesn't have much of a chance, but you just never know...
  14. I would disagree with this statement as well. Outside of GF, hockey is definitely not the most followed sport. Attendance wise, I would say basketball (by a long shot...no pun intended ), followed by football, and then hockey.
  15. Malone Edit: aka Pony...fargo sioux is a bit quicker on the draw than I
  16. No reason to begin attacking each other. I have been on this site for more than one month and agree with many of the posters who question the legislature getting involved at this point. The potential harm at this point outweighs the risk of what the legislature is proposing. IF the tribes, particularily Standing Rock, were to get involved and hold a vote, then perhaps this would get some legs. As it stands now, it appears to be nothing more than some grandstanding by some politicians in Bismarck.
  17. If I understand it correctly, it would also apply to tailgating lots. I can't imagine the Alerus would be too excited about what this could do to the tailgating scene...
  18. It appears as though a bill has been drafted that will ban alcohol sales college athletic events in North Dakota bill
  19. Representative Carlson was on the Dan Hammer show today. for those that are interested, here is the link: link I would agree with the sentiment of most posters on here that this is nothing more than grandstanding and if they were serious about it, action would have taken place at a prior legislative session.
  20. Of course as soon as I post this, CU goes on a 15-0 run to push the lead 25, the biggest of the game.
  21. They are playing much better in the second half...minus the last 5 point spurt which pushed the lead back to15. Take away the horrendous start (3-19 from the field) and this game would be competitive. Still plenty of time to try to get back in this though...
  22. A big reason Big Sky teams play DII teams is because of numbers. There just aren't any FCS schools in the west other than Big Sky and Great West teams (soon to be Big Sky only). It costs them more money to get FCS schools to go out west. We are somewhat in the same postion, however, we do have the other three dakotas, UNI, and Drake who are all relatively close. Hopefully our non-conference games will see more of these teams on the schedule in the future...
  23. Thu, Sep 01 Drake Win Sat, Sep 10 Idaho Loss Sat, Sep 17 Fresno State Loss Sat, Sep 24 Black Hills State Win Sat, Oct 01 Southern Utah * Loss Sat, Oct 08 Montana Western Win Sat, Oct 15 Open TBA TBA Sat, Oct 22 Cal Poly * Grand Forks, N.D. Win Sat, Oct 29 Northern Colorado at Greeley, Colo. Win Sat, Nov 05 Sioux Falls Grand Forks, N.D. Win Sat, Nov 12 UC Davis * at Davis, Calif. Win Sat, Nov 19 South Dakota * Grand Forks, N.D. Win I think a successfull season would qualify as 8-3 or possibly 7-4. Anything less is not succesful in my view. We should not be losing to a non-scholly or an NAIA so that should be 4 wins. Win the home conference games, although they are both tough (USD/Cal Poly) gets us to six wins. Try for a split on the road (UC Davis/S. Utah), seven wins and beat UNC to get to eight. That's what I would expect from a Fighting Sioux team any given year.
  24. I agree with this post 100%. Everyone knew the transition would be difficult but I don't think most Sioux fans would have thought it would go as poorly as it's gone for football. Everything from the product on the field, to scheduling, to fan support/interest has gone south...way south. I understand that conference affiliation is also a huge hurdle and getting into the Big Sky is huge, but again, all the Dakota schools had to deal with these issues. I had to chuckle reading the press release. I understand the need to market but seriously, trying to market these three games is a lost cause. Knocking helmets with a team from the Frontier conference, DII transitional, 4 time NAIA national champions...do they really think Sioux fans are going to get excited about these games?
