  1. He wasn't drafted, but another UND alum will be getting a crack at the NFL. Ty Boyle signed a free agent contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/210888/group/homepage/
  2. Just out of curiousity, is there another business going in next to the Ruby Tuesdays? I was driving by there the other day and it appeared as though a second, unattached building was going up right to the south of it. Perhaps it's part of the Ruby Tuesdays restaurant, I couldn't really tell by the angle I was viewing it from, but if so, then Ruby Tuesdays appears as though it's a rather large restaurat.
  3. The new hotel is in the South East Alerus parking lot. It is a long, now 2 story and I think 3/4 story building when completed. I drive by it everyday on my way to work. South of 17th ave is the new Black Gold Potatoes Corporate Headquarters. Those are the only two projects currently being worked on on the west side of 42nd street between Demers and 32nd ave s. The article that is linked actually has a picture of it...
  4. As the article here http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/210767/ states, it's an 80 room, Sleep Inn Hotel.
  5. It appears as though Versus is going to try to begin televising College Hockey games as early as this season. http://www.dailygazette.com/weblogs/schott/2011/jul/22/versus-may-be-interested-in-college-hockey-tv-pack/
  6. That's an awful nice gesture for the Gophers to invite the Minnesota teams down to the Cities for a tournament. I'm predicting that UND will still be traveling to play at the BSU's, Mankato's, and the SCSU's of the college hockey world than the Gophers will be. Edit: I guess I should have read the article before posting. Apparantly the Gophers are looking at going on the road to the Minnesota schools as well. Guess we will just have to wait and see.
  7. I accidentally erased my previous post. So I will try it again. Here's a link to the facebook "NCHC" logo... http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.171389226262340.45010.169222273145702 And here is the NBCUniversal logo... So is it a coincidence or intentional???
  8. I think you might be the one who made the error. I believe they used the logo that is in this link... http://www.unomaha.edu/logo/
  9. Perhaps they are calling it National due in part to a media/television contract? NBC sports (National Broadcast Company)/Versus...wishful thinking on my part, definitely but you never know...
  10. No worries. I was thinking Providence with the Big East connection, but none the less, it is kind of strange that ND has been so quiet. I would like to see them in UND's new conference, but it wouldn't surprise me to see them go to Hockey East or even see a new East coast conference develop. Interesting times for sure.
  11. You mean the article that was linked in post #264? linky Any chance that ND might be negotiating with some teams from the Hockey East to break away and begin a new conference? If Versus is truly looking to televise college hockey, there are many more tv sets in the NE than with the teams in UND's new conference. Perhaps BC, BU, Maine, Providence, New Hampshire, and Notre Dame?
  12. Sand Volleyball, Golf, running, and spending time at the lake...not necessarily in that order.
  13. As stated earlier in a link I posted, WMU officials traveled to UND last week to discuss the new conference. Here is a link to their web page they put together about their hockey program. http://whywestern.com/
  14. I hadn't seen this article posted anywhere. Some interesting information in it. https://www.ironmountaindailynews.com/page/content.detail/id/529242/Hockey-conference-realignment.html?nav=5006 So is WMU still on the outside looking in? A bit of information on SCSU which is contrary to what their President has been saying. Also interesting about BU and BC if true. And finally some info on what ND might be looking at.
  15. Did you read the article I linked above. St. Cloud President is on record as saying they would not accept an invitation. Edit: Oops, your second post got in before mine...nevermind
  16. According to this article, St. Cloud was expecting to be a part of the talks regarding a new conference. They were never extended an invitation and state they would not accept if an invite was offered. http://www.sctimes.com/article/20110708/SPORTS0401/107080035/SCSU-won-t-join-hockey-super-league
  17. That fan (Boston Domer) I assume lives in Boston or somewhere in the NE which is why all of ND's road trips would be driving distance for him...
  18. Thanks for the article. Anyone think that one of the Alaska schools might be considered in order to gain two extra games?
  19. Pehaps they want to be the "big fish" in what's left of the WCHA/CCHA...
  20. It's been posted several times on USCHO that WMU is out of the picture. I haven't found any papers/blogs that are reporting it though.
  21. I think it all depends on what Notre Dame does. If they end up in the new league, they will have a lot of say in who the other school will be. If Notre Dame goes east, the new conference may stick with 6 teams or invite two more Minnesota schools or possibly an Alaska school and a Minnesota school. It will be interesting to see what happens once Notre Dame makes their decision...
  22. There are rumors floating around on USCHO.com that the new league is negotiating with Versus for a tv contract. Also reports that Western Michigan is now out of the picture...
  23. So you are willing to risk the whole athletic department on the very, very slim chance (I believe it's zero chance) that the Big Sky is bluffing? There is no way the Big Sky wants to deal with what is currently taking place in the media. As for the WCHA, they are not going to kick out their biggest money maker once Minny and Sconnie leave for the BTHC. If pressured, they will state some kind of "grandfathered in" type of clause. And your example of the WAC and swimming/diving. No one follows the sport in the media, plus the WAC is admitting anyone and everyone they can...
  24. I was kind of curious as well. Especially since it's appeared to cost the UND Women's Team a home game against the University of Iowa. That would have been a huge game to host.
  25. It's Crazy how much water is out that way. I have family that live in Minot. They are out of the flood plain as they live on the north hill. My uncle did say that his sump pump began to kick in a few weeks ago however. He said it's the second time in 27 years that it's kicked in...
