  1. I think the closest a 1st-round road team has come to winning the Broadmoor recently was BSU in 2011. That year they were the #10 and upset #3 Omaha; then they beat Duluth in their Thursday play-in game only to lose to DU in the semis. They were more of a "Cinderella" that year than the AA team referenced previously.
  2. I was in the upper level, 1st base side, and saw everyone rushing toward the 3rd base dugout after the Kristo goal to ice the game. I thought for a split-second about busting butt to get down there to join them; but thankfully I decided to stay put and take it all in from a distance. It was quite the spectacle and something I'll never forget. We went down to Omaha the first time we played them in November 2010, and after that weekend I thought it would likely be on my list of "regular" road trips to make. Last weekend just solidified it for me.
  3. We all know the flood of UND fans has been known to bring down opposing teams' webcasts in the past!
  4. I realize this forecast is for just this weekend, but how volatile are they for the rest of the season (Win 0 vs. Win 6)? Thanks for your analysis, Jim!
  5. I have DirecTV so I've never watched a game via UND Insider and thus I know nothing of the current quality. I've heard of some folks having issues with the stream, and I guess my question is: will the servers, etc. be able to handle all of the increased demand from the current DTV and FCS subscribers who will be forced to webcasts?
  6. What are the in-house capabilities for the video boards? They upgraded the main scoreboard a couple years ago, and are they (have they) not upgraded the concourse TVs? Has the in-house viedo feed been the same as the network TV feed?
  7. Of course the article didn't give a concrete reason, and speculated that it was a playing time issue; but if true the kid should've taken a lesson from Eids. Fist thing that popped into my mind when reading this story was how Eidsness handled his situation when Dell came in. We were lucky to have a character guy like that on our team.
  8. It's because the conference has a contract for exclusive national broadcast rights with CBS College Sports. I believe the FCS deal with UND is done after this year.
  9. The beauty is that at least the puck will be moving so slowly all of us here in Omaha will be able to follow it!
  10. Seems to me the rain is forecast for later in the day on Saturday. The smart thing to do would be to move the start times up an hour or two. It would suck to get a period and a half in and then have it start raining.
  11. Yes, they serve alcohol at Century Link Center.
  12. Shouldn't they be together for more than a weekend before we start thinking of nicknames?
  13. I like how Shepherd talks about the diving epidemic like he and the other refs aren't part of the problem. Gimme a break! You can't simply pin this on the coaches and players. Hak said "teams are being rewarded" for it. By who? Clearly the officials.
  14. I used to attend games at the Ralph during that time, and I thought it was hard to listen to as well. However, when she's on TV her voice is way more tolerable. Maybe it's because she doesn't have to scream into the microphone and it doesn't emphasize the high shrill sounds. It really doesn't bother me on TV like it used to at the Ralph. I think she does a fine job with the interviews, and she comes across as having a decent knowledge of the game and the right questions to ask.
  15. I used the slingbox from a friend this past Saturday and it was excellent. The sender had it hooked up directly to the Midco cable and I have Charter cable Internet, so the stream was fast. Honestly, the picture was better than what I get on DirecTV. With the HD switch next year I think a HD slingbox hooked up to a Midco HD receiver would be a very good option. Won't the UND insider webcasts be HD once Midco upgrades?
  16. I think this is a very valid question. I will admit that I thought hiring Berry would be a good move. I'm not ready to pull the pin yet, but to make a coaching change would imply that something was wrong with the way things were going in the past. I just don't know that things were all that bad on the ice the past few years warranting this type of change. To see the product on the ice regress from a season ago is quite shocking, and the change should not be above scrutiny.
  17. They are July B-Dates, right? Some kids are ready for kindergarten at age 5, some aren't. That's the decision parents have to make when their child has a summer birthday.
  18. I agree with you here for the most part, but it even seems like the grit and toughness has been squeezed out of MacWilliam, too. He even said as much himself when he noted in a recent press conference that hockey is different and that he can't make the big hit any more. Last year we had pretty much the same core of D, and they were much more responsible in their own end than they have shown this year. Yes, they had Ben Blood and he logged a ton of minutes, but it's not like we haven't had to deal with graduations before. I doubt Berry has forgotten how he coached that '05 group, but has HE changed since then?
  19. No such thing as a moral tie.
  20. Good thing we didn't need that one last night.
  21. See, even DirecTV is giving up!
  22. I think expecting a blowout win is unrealistic given the level SCSU is playing at. Aside from UND's effort, which everyone agrees was pathetic, SCSU did a lot of things well and will be smelling blood. I will be extremely happy with a hard-fought one goal win. Any loss will be a major disappointment regardless of effort tonight. We can't reward a good effort with a moral victory tonight just because they lowered the bar last night.
  23. You beat me to this one! We're tied up! :-)
  24. So basically you're saying there has only been one instance where we've been burned by a grueling WCHA playoff run, and they needed every one of those exhausting wins to even make it? Since none of the seasons you've shown here actually ended in a National Championship, it would appear that the 6 in 9 reason for failure is no more significant than any other reason, no?
  25. But in many cases, the only game that would've been a "throw away" at the final five would've been the championship. And, since you can't just forfeit to save your legs for the national tourney, you may as well play to win it. This whole playoff argument is ridiculous because other than the 2011 team we have consistently been a bubble team heading into the playoffs.
