  1. That’s one thing that makes me nervous, we need to limit the negative plays so we can keep their defense off balance. Poor snaps are not only negative plays, but wasted plays.
  2. According to Indiana State’s head coach they were interested with Tommy. Unless he was just puffing up UND the last few minutes. I do agree, the more consistent winning the deeper our recruiting class can be.
  3. Just like the past, our stars need to shine this game.
  4. The game went as I thought it would, kind of went too conservative the last 9 minutes or so. Overall a solid effort. If there is constructive criticism is that we need to improve on 3rd down and when given the opportunity …. get the sack, we left a few out there. Next week, hopefully we are efficient on offense and use a silent count and have solid snaps. My guess we will have to use quick passes and set up the deeper stuff later. If we can control the ball, it will give us a chance to win. Defense bend and not break and hopefully get a turnover or two. I view next week another playoff game. If we win possible seeding, if a narrow loss we get in. If we get blown out, it may give the selection committee an excuse to leave us out.
  5. Or arrive later like UND did when Idaho State pumped over 50 on us in Idaho.
  6. Red maybe another Santiago. If I recall Santiago was originally recruited as a wr and then moved to running back. Danny will put him where he will give the offense an advantage.
  7. Just like the old D2 days being in the tougher region. Consistent winning seasons will get us there. Consistent winning will not only get us respect but also get players making plays to win in tighter/tougher games.
  8. Saw that you said he could be a 3 to 4 year starter at UND, when I saw that I thought you were a psychic.
  9. I had to look back when Tommy first signed. It was interesting hearing comments on his potential of being a good QB, while some saying he is D2 kid or there maybe something wrong if he was Michigan player of the year and no D1 offers.
  10. Not easy to throw across body and with the conditions!
  11. Nice throw to Smith!
  12. I agree, thought we had leverage on the other side.
  13. With the swirling wind Tommy is throwing some good passes.
  14. We get the ball 2nd half, need to score and make them one dimensional and with pressure, their qb makes more mistakes.
  15. Let’s hope their back-up with less than 50 percent completion does worse with the wind at his back.
  16. Yes win, but let’s be that team that gets the momentum going early and not letting it go.
  17. Yes, that’s we need we need more NG types (not just 2) that can play. So we don’t have issues in stopping spread run and can force more one on one with our edge rushers. I’m a novice and probably next year (hopefully) we will improve.
  18. With spread teams, many 3-4 teams run lots nickel defense to deal with spread offenses.
  19. I think the point is the Valley is pretty much like the old NCC of the D2 days. If you play poor don’t expect to win. I remember some good UND teams of that era struggling against Augy and beating NDSU.
  20. I am probably wrong but last year without Maag, and Otis distraction, we were not where we could have been and we lost close games to playoff teams. Counting Spring season defense played fairly well. This year we lose Weah and Skokna (injury) but gained a gem with Hoosman and Maag is back and Bo is doing very well. Tommy playing even better this season. Along with our other running backs contributing. The O-Line is playing better then expected this season (because of youth) However, we lost some good D-Backs this year because of transfer portal and we are weaker there this season. If they would have stayed I think we could be get by with more blitzing (pressure defense which we were are known for). I do think our defensive coaches are working their butts off trying to scheme, not give up the quick big play and be solid against the run (though big pass plays happen due to lack of pressure) and try to make teams earn their drives. Special teams, I will not elaborate too much, except we need to be more consistent….to the good. Nebraska loss - we played hard, had some early chances and lost SIU - played like a playoff game where we played tight both sides of ball and lost SDSU - Started strong, but a veteran team with deep playoff runs showed why they win 5-3, where I hoped we will be, with the potential of going to Fargo 7-3 record playing a rivalry game for for possible higher seating for playoffs. We control what we can control, keep playing one game at a time.
  21. Defensive Positives we forced turnovers and we scored with the short field. Except for 2-3 big runs we shut down the run. negative is …. to obvious to say Special Teams 2-3 FG made not going to complain We had 2 punts inside 10 so that was good KO- thanks to the 2 penalties only 1 of 3 big returns counted (glaring issue today) offense started flat, and picked up well. Great to see the Hogs get great push. Also that late 2nd quarter field goal set up by Tommy’s throw was huge. It was great to see the offense step up when other parts of our game was slacking. The last drive is what winning teams can do to ice the victory. Next week ISU Blue will be a battle, they were embarrassed and will be a different beast at their place. I’ll expect a 4 quarter game. Which we should win.
  22. POS has to be almost 2-1 UND
  23. Nice flippen run 32!
  24. 99 yard drive not good and 3 TD passes that were similar in concept. I’ll agree KO is gross, but when we get that 2 score lead stop them. Just like Mo State!
  25. If it wasn’t our offense we would have been blown out today, enough with negative let’s score again offense.
