    2005 Schedule

Bring her along! Nothing says love like a road trip!
  2. At that time there were very few people spending time in the city...I was still evacuated out of my apartment. He went into Grand Forks, but spoke to all of the folks that were temporarily housed at the base.
  3. Memorial Union? How about Memorial Stadium? Sorry, I couldn't resist!
  4. Congratulations to the Sioux team on yet another amazing season. Northwest Region champs Hosting (and beating) Grand Valley State in the Alerus Seniors becoming the winningest class in school history Proving that a team with no big name players can be extremely tough to beat Reminding me how much I love Sioux Football I am going to Denver on Thursday for a long weekend and Broncos game and was worried I would have to figure out a way to get to Florence and back to Denver in time for the game!
  5. I was in Harvey last November, and Og was down
  6. I like having Tony do the color on the radio, and since it wasn't too long ago that he was playing, he can kind of predict what the coaches are going to do. I liked having Bollinger do the color on TV today. He also did a great job explaining why a play worked or what the intention was, or what the mistake was. Very good. Students, if you are going home for Thanksgiving, COME BACK EARLY! I am going to, let's give Grand Valley a nice North Dakota welcome.
  7. Did I hear the announcer right, we are HOSTING St. Cloud State as the 5th seed? Thank you NCAA and Roger for the playoff bid ($$$$)
  8. Okay. Here's my thoughts on this. I completely agree that the students haven't been given a fair shake. Now for my personal opinion. There needs to be advocates. What I mean is when students (or alumni, or whomever) makes suggestions, have someone that MAKES SURE it gets achieved. Now I don't know the whole story with the gates thing, but what I am wondering is if there were a bunch of emails and suggestions ("You know what you should do, put some gates up here") or did someone specifically contact the person in charge at REA with a detailed plan to prevent injury that included several examples and testimonies. My interpretation of the whole words of the school song on the screen thing is that it was approached half-a$$ed. I remember being at a game with the words to the school song on the scoreboard, but the person that was in charge didn't know the song, so the words didn't show up at the right time, no one could sing along, and it was extremely annoying, like watching someone sing your favorite song on Karaoke that doesn't have a clue. Since no one sang along (how could you?) it was dropped. If there would have been people truly passionate about posting the words involved, I have a feeling it would have made a better showing. It just needed someone to say "give it another shot, this is why it didn't work..." If students feel that they are getting a raw deal, there needs to be more than just complaining about it on message boards and letters to the Dakota Student. I know everyone is busy, and in theory the Student Body President is the official rep for the students, but I believe (maybe I am just naive) that if people sit down like adults and are respectful of all parties, much more will be accomplished. Find someone to be a representative of the students that is willing to not only talk to REA and company, but to persist and make sure that the voice is heard. That's just my view.

    UND vs. UNO

Boy, I am torn about the QB situation. The one good thing about having Bowenkamp in is that his experience made him able to make the correct reads. He just couldn't throw because of his arm! I wonder if either Belmore or Manke were in, they would have made rookie (because that's what they are) mistakes, choosing bad reads, and the score would be a whole lot worse due to multiple interceptions. This season gives me flashbacks of the 2002 season. Lots of excitement at the beginning of the season, QB injuries changing the entire scope. Of course, having tough foes in SCSU, UNO, and USD hasn't helped, either.
  10. So I was looking at my program for Friday night's game and the team photo has Matt Moreland and an unidentified player in the front row (who I am assuming was a walk on, too). Any one out there know who he is?
  11. I'm pretty sure the following high school hockey teams would disagree with you: Bottineau Devils Lake Dickinson Grafton-Park River Hazen-Beulah Jamestown Mandan Minot Wahpeton-Breckenridge West Fargo (a community that is not Fargo) Williston
  12. I wasn't bad-mouthing him, in fact in a different post I said that he played well up until the 4th quarter. If you look at the list of players to choose from in the poll, they are all either special teams or defensive players. But since there was an interception, the first tackle was from an offensive player (not on the list). Actually, it kind of reminds me of 2002 when Bowenkamp had to fill in for an injured Klosterman and took a while for things to click.
  13. I'm not real sure anyone felt like writing it down, since it was an offensive player (Belmore was intercepted).
  14. I was actually trying to be "neutral" and not just sound like a big old homer, I don't think that SDSU has an edge, but you can see how aff reacted, even with me being polite.
  15. I think the penalty on the punt return TD was weak, but for the most part, UND beat UND yesterday, not SCSU (I'm not trying to take away from their first half, but UND's defense dominated the second half) It's really too bad. Belmore didn't start really stinking it up until the 4th, and he sure did a great job of it. Oh, well. We had a loss in 2001 that woke us up and also in 2003...
  16. Okay, stop freaking out dude. First of all, when you go to a website called siouxsports.com, it is going to be a UND site with (sometimes biased) UND fans. Second of all, I did not state that UND has a better basketball history than SDSU, all I said was that the gap between SDSU and UND relating to basketball isn't that big. FOR EXAMPLE: the claim of Frost Arena being a better/bigger arena than what UND offers isn't all that true. The Betty Engelstad Sioux Center holds 4000, but the Ralph (where all of the NCC games will be this year) holds quite a bit more than the remodeled (and probably very nice) Frost Arena. So you say recent seasons don't matter, but bring up the UND mens' most recent season (yeah we lost to Mary, and yeah this last season was disappointing...how about SDSU's most reason season...any disappointment there?). Want to compare UND and SDSU women's teams? Do you really think the people posting believe that Big Sky is going to come knocking on Roger Thomas's office door and invite UND tomorrow? It's just an online discussion! I usually don't even bother to post, because I don't want to ruin good conversations with one-sided opinions (I am one of those biased fans)
  17. Keeping with the theme of the last few posts (UND vs. SDSU in appeal to BSC), I am not real sure you can say that SDSU has a big edge over UND, relating to basketball.
  18. FYI--Duluth is leading Minnesota State 13-3 in the third and USD is ahead 10-0 over Augie at halftime.
  19. It was announced at the Sioux boosters that Wendy Blais passed away yesterday. Prayers to the Blais family in their time of loss.
  20. I think 15 minutes is too short to resell the tickets. Sometimes it takes longer than 15 minutes to negotiate the traffic around the Ralph (and don't say I am not enough of a die-hard since I don't get there at 4:30 in the afternoon). Here's my reason: Before my mom died, we would go to some of the games together. She wasn't all that healthy and didn't move fast at all. So, it took us a while to get to games. I could drop her off at the front of the Ralph, but would still have to go park my car . Then, we had to negotiate the lobby, get to the bathroom a couple times, get some popcorn or something from the concession stand, and still make it to my upper deck seats. This took a looooooong time. If we went through all of that and found out that we had to be in SRO, it would be ugly. Do you mean 15 minutes off of the game clock or 15 minutes after the puck dropped?
  21. It's definitely training for credit. The students take courses at fully accredited community colleges and then finish their degrees at UND, usually their last two years. It all comes down to the Board of Higher Education classification. Some people at MSU-M were kind of annoyed that NDSU got to include those students in their numbers. A couple years ago I remember someone from MSU-M (couldn't tell you who, sorry) doing an interview on the local NBC station stating it wasn't fair that NDSU got the glory for those students. I also noticed that the interview was yanked for the 10:00 news. I always thought that it meant that person got in trouble.
  22. If you look at rosters, past successes, polls, etc. Nothing can be sure until the season starts, and still not until the playoffs start. That's the great thing about sports. One bad night and the whole thing can change.
