  1. My bad, Sic. I could have sworn I read a post by you that you worked at REA (not necessarily for REA), but that was your locale. Anyhoo. I'm too lazy to search for it. So does anyone know what is in the gift bag given at the end of the tour?
  2. There were Dippin' Dots at the old Arena The acoustics aren't that great at the Ralph (at least in the main bowl) too, and what about the Chester Fritz? No, I know that everyone should be grateful for the gift Ralph Engelstad gave the University, and believe me I am, I love the new facilities But it just seems like a lot of asking for money in a short amount of time has made me crabby. P.S. You aren't biased at all, Sic, are you, given your work location?
  3. I would like to see the gift bag before I make a decision on whether it's a bonus or not. I work every day with students interested in attending UND, and the fact that: Guest on campus: "So, what is cool to see in Grand Forks? Is the hockey arena open to check out?" Me: "Sure! for a fee" I just hate telling guests they have to spend money. If it is necessary for operation to charge for tours, then by all means, rock on and charge $3. If it is just another way to make money off of the community, then there is a serious problem, in my opinion.
  4. P.S. 200 times-- Dressler 22.08 (with wind, yes I know) Rabb 22.8
  5. UND Recruit: Weston Dressler - 5-8 170, Wide Receiver/Running Back compared to NDSU recruit: BRIAN RABB, Cornerback, 5-9, 171, Ft. Lauderdale, FL How about the stats? Dressler: 2,100 rushing yards--40 Touchdowns Rabb: Ran for 650 yards and eight TDs while averaging 6.1 yards per carry as a tailback...Also caught 14 passes for 121 yards I'll take Dressler, wind and all
  6. Ummm, yeah. Grand Forks is smaller, but I am pretty sure that Fargo (particularly the area N of 12th Ave) has the handle on rednecks. So in 45 years you can say you are a mini-Minneapolis
  7. In the last couple years the Med School has added (or is in the process of adding) at least two new buildings to their facilities... The Energy and Environmental Research Center recently broke ground on new facilities... The American Indian Services recently broke ground on their new facility... The Memorial Union just finished a $3 million renovation, and is redoing the food court this summer... There is an Entreprenuership Center being built near Ryan Hall...
  8. I agree that the ACT test is a tough thing to use as a measuring stick, but is high school GPA that much better? I graduated from a very small high school (fairly common in the Midwest). In fact, I had a class of 11, so to be in the top 10% I had to be the #1 student. Plus, my school only had a bare minimum of classes offered: no AP, or really advanced anything. So, if a student graduates from a small school with a 4.0 and took home ec and shop, and had the same math teacher all four years of school, is that better than a student that graduates from a large school with a 3.8 and classes like AP Literature and Calculus? That's why schools use both ACT and GPA to try to balance things out, although nothing is perfect--hence the appeal process.
  9. It also has been stated that the students that don't meet the automatic standards will more than likely still be admitted. The coaches are worried about a delay in the committee's decision in an athlete finding out whether they have been admitted, has anyone said how long of a delay there will be? It may not even be a big deal, a student finds out in the same amount of time regardless. I think the automatic standards just shorten the wait period for students with the automatic qualifications, rather than the opposite (create longer waiting periods for the other students)
  10. Just a quick comment about the enrollment increase: according to the Strategic Plan, the 14,000 student enrollment includes a lot more students taking courses by correspondence UND Current Strategic Plan It was looking at about 12,200 students "on campus" and about 1800 students taking correspondence courses The fall enrollment at UND was 13,034 well above what the University was figuring. There does become a point where there are too many students (gigantic classes, overstretched advisors, etc.) .
  11. Does NDSU have a chance of running UND's schedule? Didn't think so. And does NDSU have a chance of running NDSU's schedule? Didn't think so.
  12. What makes me crabby about the price increases (and yes, I will still pay them) is that there are 5 less home games this season, due to the WJ tournament. Added to the requirement of Fighting Sioux Club membership (which I am already a member of), the info I keep getting about the Sioux-per Gala... It just seems like all this asking for money in such a short amount of time is kind of overkill. Maybe if they had spaced it all out a little it wouldn't seem like the athletics office is greedy...
  13. That link must be kind of slow to update...Sedevie played for Bemidji State this season He was supposed to play for UND, but he was released from his letter of intent after some serious injuries
  14. For recent players, I have to show love to Danny Graff, from the great state of SD. How excited were fans when he was granted a medical and could come back for another season (and eventually a championship)?
  15. This is a part of the Dakota Student's April Fools issue. The articles in it are all false and are just supposed to be funny. Just in case someone's getting all fired up somewhere.
  16. She has changed part of her story, saying that she left her apartment because she "wanted to be alone" and was abducted as she walked around the city. Very odd.
  17. Here is a website that explains some of the rules for using UND logos: Office of University Relations My guess (without reading the website) is that you can have a plate made, but the company you go through will charge you a lot for setup and the licensing fees (probably from that GA place mentioned previously). Actually, I know if you go through a company that they will have to pay for the license. It's kind of a law. If you decide to go through all of the work of making official ones, I bet you could get some other people to buy them, (posters on a certain board, perhaps ) defraying some of the costs.
  18. Well, somewhere in the post was some love for Sioux fans. Thanks, man
  19. THIS UND football fan wants a non-conference schedule that will be exciting. The teams we will play this season have been pretty decent in the past, which makes for better football games. The players get more prepared for the conference season with games that are actually challenging. Isn't that some of what a non-conference schedule is supposed to do? Help the players gel and mentally up for the rest of the season? It's hard to really get back in the swing of the regular season when you are on the sidelines watching the scrubbies after halftime.
  20. According to the GF Herald, CB will coach the World Junior team in Grand Forks. Nice. Apparently Team USA wanted to make sure the gold medal will be defended well link to GF herald Congrats to Coach Blais!!!

    Request

I just wanted to take a minute and request that everyone send prayers (or thoughts to the non-religious posters) to the family of Kayla Thompson, the UND Cheerleader that was killed in a car accident last week. I am sure the funeral is soon, if it hasn't been held already. Her boyfriend, Sioux RB Chris Beatty was driving the car, and I understand they were on their way to CO for Spring Break. Such a tragedy.

    UND vs NDSU

So, here's how the farewell season of the best rivalry in North Dakota shakes out so far: Listed below are the winners of the last games played between the two schools (in team sports) Football: UND (the Nickel is home to stay!) Volleyball: NDSU Soccer: UND Men's Basketball: UND Women's Basketball: UND Not too shabby way to say goodbye, huh? Note: In light of recent complaints, this thread is not intended to incite anger from Bison fans (that's just gravy), it's actually just intended to celebrate great accomplishments of the Sioux teams this year
  23. Much better. Not to sound snotty, but that was too much of a tangent you crazy GV people were on. So what is the story behind the Frankenstein? I saw the picture (I am assuming is you) on the admin thread P.S. Only 167 days until the Sioux Football 2004 season kickoff!!!!!!
