  1. As it currently stands he would come for 2006-2007. Of course that is subject to change should any early departures occur. He is a good A level player but a year in Juniors would be nice. Warroad doesn't play many competitive games.
  2. Hmmmm..... Marvin...... I wonder what schools may be looking at him in the future?
  3. I am assuming that this is not true. I haven't been to the new stadium many times but if I saw someone throwing pennies on the ice, I would go to security. Pennies are not like a gopher, badger, or hat. Which, if not appropriate, at least is easily visable, and will not cause injury (assuming again that the gopher is not live and rabid). I have never seen this happen in Grand Forks and hope I never do.

    Kessel

Based on his performance at the World Juniors, I would say that at this point he is a defensive liability at best. That does not mean that he is lazy or won't improve, but he let his man skate by him and score in the crease at least twice aginst the Swiss. To be lazy requires years of proof. i.e. Thomas Vanek.

    Kessel

Perhaps he is over-hyped. That doesn't mean he won't great. But if he had been interested in, and picked, the Sioux I seriously doubt this would be the direction of discussion. Kessel is the real deal and I expect him to be great whereever he goes. Just so long as it is in the WCHA, anywhere else would be an absolute WASTE. We need to quit pretending there is more than 1 elite conference in hockey... I am a little suprised that it appears that Kessel never considered North Dakota seriously. Particularly after Toews gave his verbal. Toews may well be competing with Kessel for #1 overall in the 2006 draft. I would have thought that the chance to play with someone like Toews would have intrested him. But if he was no interested in Grand Forks, so be it. We should do OK. The nice thing about being North Dakota is, OH NO, we might have to settle for the second best recruiting class in the nation last year. Hey Gopher fans, just remember one thing. Woog wouldn't have considered him or even let him play...
  6. I hear that there is some guy on the U.S. U18 squad who might be good enough to play for the sioux.
  7. Probably not good enough to be an "official thread." It's that magical time of year again. If things go as planned the Sioux recruits could bring home 2 state championships. Lee and Vandevalde are part of perhaps one of the most talented Minnesota teams ever. And Oshie leads Warroad's offensive machine. I predict that Warroad will cruise to the "A" title and Moorhead will finally get #1. Moorhead opens up aginst Century out of a very weak Section #1. I expect an absolute blowout. I think that it is too bad that a Centennial can miss the tournement and a Century can make it, but that is just my opinion. Southern Minnesota hockey just isn't that good relative to the rest of the state. In case anyone thinks I am biased, I have lived in Section #1 for years. When is Mr. Hockey announced It would be nice to bring that to North Dakota for once (yes, I know the sad history). I'm just tired of seeing so much outstanding talent be wasted elsewhere.
  8. Great post... But last week I thought Brandt was going to drive the bus.
  9. I agree with most of your sentiments, but with regards to disrespecting country and flag I don't think that was too terrible, no worse than "home of the ______." Which I openly participate in. I think I will bring a sign to the F5 that reads "Good luck to Robbie Earl and the rest of the UW diving team." What a Jacka$$. EDIT: Assuming, of course, that they don't get spanked by UAA again...
  10. I'll go out on a limb here and say that this would be a record crowd for a play-in game at the F5.
  11. I am absolutely certain that you could go and get the tickets for below face value from a scalper. Don't worry there will be plenty available. Though they probably don't call them "scalpers" there as it would be racially insensitive to Native Americans. Say hi to the protester for those of us who can't.
  12. Hak played a keeper who was hot the night before. Good move, sorry it took you 4 months to figure that one out. I felt like for the first time this season we stole a point, which is in contrast to the many times I felt that other teams stole a point or 4 from us.
  13. What? The game has been over for 2 minutes and USCHO PWR aren't updated.
  14. Let's steal this... 59.8 left
  15. I'll take that trade-off...
  16. Yep, here it is... Jones roughing (running the keeper).
  17. I was critical of JPar after the first period, mostly because he sucked... However, Just like the AA game he found his game in the second and third. Maybe he needs to take some more shots in warm-up or do something else to get ready (possibly sacrifice a gopher. ) Either way he appears to be the best goalie at this point. I assume a win tonight will all but gaurentee the Sioux a place in the NCAAs. No I just hope we can get a #4 seed in Cornell's bracket.
  18. Period 1 observations: Parise in nets, looking terrible and playing the puck poorly. Luckily we have a couple of soft goals to offset his soft goals aginst. Really the Sioux outplayed the Badgers most of that period, but Robbie Earl is killing us. Did anyone see which defender blew the play on the first goal? Fabian's goal was a nice effort but really a soft goal. It's nice to see Campion, clearly he is one of the best refs in college hockey. I hope I'm not speaking too soon. Why anyone whould want cable as opposed to dish / directtv is beyond my understanding I should get 4 games to watch today.
  19. It would be nice to have Murrey, but we don't thus I have a bleak outlook.
  20. Agreed, notice that this post was number #1 for sontec2. Doesn't someone around here have a "Skippy alert" or something? That said, if it were true, the 2005-2006 class would be the greatest freshman class in history...
  21. Wow, how did you get access to Sid's sources...
  22. A question for someone with NCAA knowledge. I don't know the details on medical redshirts, but would he be eligible for an extra year with the amount of time he missed? I assume the answer is no because he did play regularly for a couple of months.
  23. Hak's offense should help on one side any way...
  24. Clearly the problem with goaltending this year is that we don't have a coach that will insult the players while talking to the media. Last year's results can't be wrong... Look at both of our keepers Goals Against Average. BOTH are outstanding and good enough to with 80% of their games given a typical Sioux offense. Granted neither was great aginst AA. Just one problem, this is not a typical Sioux offense. Until I see otherwise, this is a typical Hak offense. Hopefully Hak will fix this within a year. The goaltending is not broke, don't fix it.
  25. Positioning will improve after we sweep Bucky. Oh yeah, and please send us out east...
