    Oshie

True, but Sparky was brought in late. I felt that he took the roster spot of Parise. Bochenski left so late it would have been difficult to get another player on board fast enough.

    Oshie

It would be great if someone could post a link to a video clip of the goal.
  3. And that, we just can't have...

    Oshie

I don't think that Oshie has the offensive maturity that Bochenski did at that age. I'm not even sure that Bochenski is a good comparison, other that the skating which I found to look awkward.
  5. Just speculating... I assume at this point that the Sioux are being helped by AA not being a TUC. If this is the case, this may change next week when AA playes a team with a solid RPI. I assume that win or lose AA's RPI will increase and they may once again become a TUC, there by hurting the Sioux's record against TUCs in every comparison.
  6. I hope this is not the case, but it could be.

    Oshie

I know that there are some other threads that are discussing Oshie, but since there is alot to say I thought that a new thread was justified. Saturday I left Rochester at 6 a.m. to attend a class in the cities at 8. I had tickets to the Sioux - St. Cloud game that night so I decided to go see the Class A championship game. What a great game. I have not seen a recorded version of the game so this is mearly what I saw without zooms or replay. Oshie kind of remids me of a young Bucks in that he is clearly incredalbly talented and yet still very raw. At times his skating, while not bad, looked awkward. I think that he will really benefit from a year in the USHL where he can play aginst some better players. If the bucks example holds true he will improve remarkably during his time at UND. I believe that Oshie only had 2 points in the game, but that doesn't really explain his true impact. The goal from the point that was credited to Hardwick only happened because Oshie went created a brilliant screen. I went so far as to stick out his arm to hide the puck as it came in on net. The keeper had no chance of seeing it. He also created a number of opportunities by skating around and through a pretty good TG defense. He is a brilliant passer and playmaker who will be helped by having some better players around him. I would expect him to have far more assists than goals in the WCHA. Oshie, seemed to like to cherry pick some, however he got back to reign in a couple of odd man rushes. What impressed me the most was that when the game got tight and the pressure was on he just kept getting better. In OT he made a couple of great spin moves to create opportunites. He looked like a kid playing a pickup game on a frozen pond. The Championship winning goal was one of the prettiest goals I've ever seen. Warroad created pressure and got a shot on the net and with the puck laying in front of the crease, Oshie dove to the puck and looked like he would attempt to poke it past the keeper, but he didn't. With the defense and keeper fixated on Oshie diving at the puck, he instead played it across the goal mouth to Marvin who buried it in the back of an open net. One of the prettiest goals, I've seen anywhere, let alone in OT of a championship game. The kid has amazing vision, he sees everything. Oshie the Sioux will be fun to watch, though that may not be untill 2006.
  8. If Reaney's dream is to play for the Sioux and he is not offered a scholarship, I hope he goes to UND and walks on. UND is a good school regardless of hockey participation. If his clearly evident raw talent is matched by a strong work ethic, he would be a welcome addition to the Sioux. The Sioux have had some fine walk ons and if he impresses he can earn a scholarship down the road. Worst case scenario, he gets a good education, and some IM team dominates for 4 years.
  9. I don't know there are other good players out there as well. Dee comes to mind. When it comes to finding talent I will defer to Hak as he seems to do well on that front.
  10. So he'll be gone by the time she is at Minnesota.
  11. Not true, NO CSTV... min of 1 game per week.
  12. CCHA Hockey. The natural cure for insomnia... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
  13. OK, I just got tickets for Saturday, and can't wait. Everytime the anouncer says North Dakota (thereby refusing to say fighting sioux), Everyone should yell "Fighting Sioux." I may also bring along some of my text books to donate to the SCCC players. It's the least I can do. If anyone wants to go, just do it, there WILL be tickets available. You won't be left out. Playing a bad team often has this perk.
  14. Here are Thursday's scores. Clearly the 2A games were far more competitive than 1A, with the exception of Moorhead / Century. 2A: Tartan 4, Elk River 3 2A: Holy Angels 3, Bloom. Jefferson 2 2A: Duluth East 3, White Bear Lake 2 2A: Moorhead 3, Rochester Century 0

    Kessel

DiPeitro - yes Kariya is the next closest that I can think of at #4
  16. I agree, Lee was a great signing. History has shown to not expect much from D-men until there 2nd year. But Lee should be a great addition to the program.
  17. That's a great idea. PCM, you are wise beyond your years.
  18. This is just odd. WBL is absolutely cursed. I believe the led most of the game 2-1. Here is an article from the startribune. http://www.startribune.com/stories/526/5270301.html This was WBL's 17th appearance at the state tournament. ALL 17 times they lost their quarterfinal game. That is astonishing. The mathematical probability of this happening is 1 in 131072. Wow, you have to have some pitty for that program.
  19. Scores from Wednesday: 1A: Duluth Marshall 9, Little Falls 2 1A: St. Thomas Academy 8, Virginia/Mt. Iron-Buhl 2 1A: Warroad 6, Albert Lea 1 1A: Totino-Grace 5, Shakopee 2 Perhaps the only mild surprise was the score of the STA / VMIB game.
  20. Actually, since you guessed incorrectly, I am from Northern Minnesota. Da Range to be precise. Recall that I picked Moorhead and Warroad to win state. (Kelly Green glasses, maybe). I am not critical of Warroad's schedule, but the reality is that they are so much better than most the teams they played. They haven't played many competitive games. This is not because they are bad, rather it is because they are very good. Warroad should probably do like Greenway and Roseau and play AA. 1:15 a.m. ? You really should go to sleep earlier, as you could become irritable...
  21. If MacMurchy get too out of line well hit him with the Nickle Trophy next time. Note the smiles, don't send Ashcroft after me...
  22. Clearly I hit a nerve... Get over it, take your blood pressure medication, I stand with the statement. First, maybe your English ain't not tu good, but where did I ever say Warroad was not for real? I mearly said that Oshie has not played many games aginst talent on par with his own (i.e. competition). You need to play tough competition to get better. At Warroad he has not played many tough games. He will be a good player, but a year in the USHL would help as he can develop his skills aginst better competition. The numbers that he has put up at Warroad will mean nothing at the next level. I look forward to seeing Oshie in Kelly Green. Here is Warroad's schedule and results. Note that there are only 6 games that have been decide by 3 goals or less. ONLY 6 COMPETITIVE GAMES! http://www.warroad.k12.mn.us/moredocs/hockey Of course Warroad is for real, they recruit well...
