  1. Definitely agree on the advertising from the big screen. The crowd has to rebuild it's momentum after every break in the action. I remember at times when BB, FB & MH games had the cheers continued through the stop in play and back into live play. Energy built into the atmosphere from the crowd. The "shooooooot" is more like individual frustrated fans yelling and might seem more as a negative to the players than a cheering on the team. The "Let's Go Sioux", or any of the similar cheers during live play is minimal as compared to the pre-Hawks era in The Ralph, and even as in the Winter Sports Center(later renamed Engelstad) and the Barn.
  2. For some reason, the Mn/UND match ups during the season have become the games with the highest price tickets at either GF or TC. I'll add, the Nashville game has a higher priced ticket for a lower level seat for a destination game.
  3. ? I posted the above post and it ended up in two threads, right after UNDBIZ posted his top 5. I went and deleted the other post. Happened as this thread was born and posts moved here?
  4. Seems to. Whenever Hawks is heard, there are a number of fans spread through out the arena that immediately yell Sioux right after it - or on top, as to drown it out. This seems to act as a deterrent. Fans get into the singing of some songs, especially the Beer Barrel song. The best organized cheer is done after a UND goal. Then a short cheer as the PA announces the goal. There is sometimes a cheer directed at an opposing goalie after we score, which when done is mostly by the student section. These are like giving an appreciation after the play and I will add that they are done well. Very little vocal cheering on the home team when play is going on (as in an organized word cheer). More like clapping and just plain yelling, when the crowd tries to encourage the home team on during play.
  5. 1. Minnesota 2. Wisconsin 3. Michigan 4. BC 5. BU
  6. We were idle last weekend, and still hanging in the Poll and the Rankings. Tough challenge with Denver coming to The Ralph.

  8. They have been unsuccessfully doing it since Penn State officially announced in 2010 that their program would move up to NCAA Division I hockey and shortly thereafter that the Big Ten Conference announced to begin sponsoring men's ice hockey in 2013–14 with six schools. That lack of success is how UND got in the B1G (2017-18) as a hockey affiliate only.
  9. Not really. Realistically need the other poll also. Slim shot getting that pole to raise a banner if we are not in the other poll. Only chance would be is to run the table at the conference tourney and continue through the regional and the Frozen4, very unlikely for an non-poll team. If ranked in Pairwise, we will also be in the poll.
  10. Target is on our back every year. No way out of that with leading the nation in attendance and past hardware. Couple loses to the Dawgs, will continue to keep us out of 1st in the poll. Not my wish. I'm hoping we can win both games in Duluth and the pollsters think we are the best! Remember our bubble bursts of the last two years? Pairwise is a ranking.
  11. With 7 weekends of hockey left before the NCHC playoffs start on March 13th, UND has 12 games left with no games on the weekend of Feb. 7-8th. @ Duluth CC off Denver @ St. Cloud W. Mich @ Omaha Tied last week for 1st, today UND slips under Cornell in USCHO poll by 2 points. Cornell 951 UND 949 UND is first in RPI and Pairwise Rankings

  13. Wow, same feeling on your 3 accounts. ^^^ I was about to post the same an hour ago, but decided to read the Friday Game thread first.
  14. And never really scored a goal, that 1 goal was on us.
  15. Met couple past UND players at Judy's before the game. Took pink bus to The Ralph. In short: We lost to Omaha. Crookston hired a past UND hockey player as their coach to start a team, announcement will come out soon.
  16. Omaha will test our defense, while we should have ample quality opportunities to score on their defense. Expecting a good crowd!
  17. Who pays for the Alerus rent? Does The Ralph pay GF city for the rent out of the 52%? Does The Ralph gives back to UND at the end of each year more than the 52%? Why don't we try scheduling a home and home with N. Michigan? Coach Potulny is from Red River, grew up in GF. His dad a letterman from UND and lives in GF.
