No one ever mentioned a 100K arena. That is not the point here.

Gotta sell dataflix tix some how.

That made no sense at all, anyways... When is NDSU going to realize they just ain't in the same class as UND? Yes you can argue about what the definition of flagship is, but UND is Tier 3, NDSU is tier 4. http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/r...tudoc_brief.php You won't find NDSU in this book; Best 357 Colleges There is only doubt among NDSU fans, which school is the 'flagship.'

I think SiouxGoo has a point. http://www.UND.edu/org/iac/IAC05-26-04.htm "He reported that most team budgets stayed the same or were cut." "Ray Diez questioned whether Athletics would end the year in the black. John Sirignano said the budget surplus was last year

Could have been it was just TOO crowded.

Good topic. KG was also USHL Goaltender of the Year. Bring Home Number 8!!

Star2City, your one of my favorite posters. Keep up the good work.

The UND administration must believe its Duluth because that single game ticket costs $20 compared to $18 for the rest, or should I say they saw an opportunity.
-
The atmosphere at the Alerus is 10 times better than Memorial ever was.
-
No need to expand to 15,000. BSC is never going I-A and neither are the Sioux.
-
You want to have a serious discussion about UND recruits.
-
I thought I read somewhere that the Alerus was going to put up memorabilia to make it feel more like a home field for the Sioux. Did I miss it on Saturday or is that in the plans for later?

Ziggy must like being a backup.

My team is better than your team. Always has always will!!

This probably isn't "proof" to you, but go to WDAZ.com click "Sioux Fans Tour the Betty Engelstad Center" (gotta do it quick before the link goes away) and at the end Lori Cowan will state: "The arena was built with a seven million dollar donation to UND from the Engelstad family."
-
Tell me your kidding? You are complaining about dust on your seat!!
-
The Forum just does not let it rest do they. NDSU is about to play their first Division IAA game and they are writing articles about how UND will move up in the future?!
-
Yeah...I'm going to believe the media on this one. The Engelstad Family is indeed paying for The Betty. As 'UND Fan' has also pointed out: The Engelstad family built us a tremendous hocky arena. The profits from the arena have helped fund all UND athletic programs - including the very expensive Women's program. Now they agreed to make the payments on a bond issue that will allow the UND BB and VB programs to have room to practice as well as play some games in a first class facility. I am sure the fundraising is continuing, because fundraising frankly never ends. UND needs $100,00 to finish the weigh room and other "needs."

I heard that they will serve beer in the stands, but there is no offical contract signed yet. Alerus wants alcohol in seats New contract in works between UND and Alerus Center; alcohol a major topic http://www.thedakotastudent.com/vnews/disp...7/412de961c852a I believe you should be able to have beer in the seats just like Engelstad Arena and other Alerus Center events.

UND is doing the smart thing and preparing itself before moving. Carr Report said conference affiliation was EVERYTHING. New football stadium: Check. New basketball & volleyball arena: Check. When UND decides to move conferences will be lining up.

I'm hoping this isn't a repeat of when Central Washington came to the Alerus Center.

Hockey Ticket Distribution Process. In order to facilitate a fair, easy ticket distribution process, while still addressing many of the concerns students had last year, Student Government, in cooperation with the Sporting Event Atmosphere committee, has developed a modified plan for this year. The plan includes both a line system and a lottery. First and foremost, tickets will go on sale, Saturday September 18th at 12:00pm. Students will not be allowed to gather on the property prior to Friday Sept.17th at 8:00AM. Students will be allowed to form groups of 1-4 people. One person will be required to stay in line at all times, representing the group, as we will be verifying your presence throughout the weekend. In order to help assure this, as well as to diminish the amount of budging, we are asking that students stop in the Student Government office beginning Friday, Sept. 3rd to pick up a registration card. Each student in the group will print his/her name and NAID number on the card solidifying their position in the group. As students enter into the line, officials will stamp their registration card with a number signaling their place in line. By identifying the registration cards we will be able to accurately maintain a list of how many people are in line, and communicate that to students nearing the end. Ralph Engelstad Arena policy states that every ticket must be paid for on Saturday, therefore all members must be present that day. Exceptions will be made to limited requests. The following Monday (August 20th), Students who did not receive a ticket, or who were unable to wait in line, will be given the opportunity to enter into a lottery for the last two rows of Sections 108-109. The lottery winners will be posted at REA that Friday at noon. A detailed list of all policies will be available in the Student Government office when you pick up your registration card.

It's good to see Z Parise still hanging around UND. I know he was in TRF signing autographs for the World Junior Evaluations.
