  1. I find it funny that DaveK already knows SEVEN to EIGHT years from now, his kid will be playing hockey for the Bruins. (but will never win a state championship of course thanks to GF. ). httphe already knows://siouxsports.com/forums/index.php?sh...517entry89517
  2. What? What is that suppose to mean? UND shouldn't be able to compete with the big boys but does. Why would anyone in 1960/1970/1980 have ever went to UND when they could have went to the big schools, in the big towns? UND is in a good region. OK. What your trying to tell me is UND got good athletes compared to the South because in the South there are more opportunities by D1, D1-AA and hence made UND strong enough to win a National Championship. Coaching had nothing to do with it. Anyone want to debate RT was better than Lennon at coaching? Again, I pondering what your trying to say. The exact same could be said for Women's basketball outside of UND. ND and Western MN aren't exactly turning our great womens ballers every year, but when they do they are going to be seen by a big time school. There are good D2 football players in the area but not good D2 mens basketball players? Those good football players in the south go to weak DIA, DIAA, but in the south those good basketball players don't go to weak DI schools? GF isn't exactly the most desirable place to live, but the other three sports can get the players they want to help them win championships, but Men's basketball (D2) basketball can't, recuiting to the same area. I guess realism is three of UNDs four top sports, cause mens basketball is different. Will your arguements be thrown out the window once UND gets a new Men's Basketball coach and starts winning (say wins the NCC/North Central Regions few times, maybe competes at the elite eight)? Ok, we'll agree the University of North Dakota's men's basketball program is different from the others. The reason the Sioux haven't been able to win a conference (or National) title in the last 10 years is not because of Rich Glas, or any coaches, it is because GF is not a destination city, and the surrounding states don't produce quality basketball players when compared to the South, oh yeah and because the NCC isn't that strong on a national level. (But I thought those ones would go to the many DI schools in the south according to your arguement about the football players.) This is a worthless pointless arguement. My peace has been said. I am done.
  3. I shouldn't post this hear because it isn't the right place, but You are trying to tell me you think Rich Glas is a good basketball coach? If you think so, I'd beg to differ, I guess it depends on what you definition of good is. Comparing the Hakstol situation to Glas is ridiculous. One just finished their first season as a head coach for a team that had high expectations, that people were just openly expressing that MAYBE he wasn't the right one to hire, while the other has coached mediocre Sioux basketball teams for over 10 (his first five were pretty good, so I hear, of his 15 total) years. I am tired of watching other Sioux teams succeed while having the Men's basketball team underachieve year after year. There are four major sports at UND: Men's/Women's basketball, Football, and Hockey. The other three sports besides Men's basketball, have all won at least one National CHAMPIONSHIP and have all won at Least THREE conference titles within the last ten years. Rich Glas = 0 Conference/National Titles within that same ten years. Yeah I don't see a problem. I love Glas like others have pointed out, because he is indeed a good guy, that UND is lucky to have around, but as a Sioux basketball coach, I think his time is done. He may want to break Gunther's record. That record, and others similar to it, only means who has hung around the program the longest, a true stat is a coach's win percentage.
  4. Correct. Add about the same (average) attendance now, but then every few years get say 7-10,000 (we won't say 13,000 cause that was a commodity but who knows) for a game or two and you might be able to average 4-6,000. I said "in a few years" because it'd be 8-10 years down the road after the transition period was over, so people wouldn't compare this year and the next couple years of NDSU's average attendance/schedule. I can't imagine NDSU/UND's basketball attendance after those years (8-10) being any lower than it is now.
  5. Excellent points BinCity, and to add about your comments about Men's basketball. Down the road mens basketball attendance would be around 4-6,000 (at D1 level) when you have bigger more recognizable names coming to your school....say Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Montana, Wisconsin, every couple years or so.

  7. Why is it never Glas getting job offers.
  8. I guess they want to stick with the same old image.....buffalo grazing an empty spacial prairie that is North Dakota. I'd vote for the Geese, but have a feeling the buffalo will win (see Forum online poll). Do bufallo still road free in western North Dakota because I know here in the east there doesn't seem to be to much of them. I say put a bunch of skyscrapers on the coin or how about North Dakotas greatest builing...REA.
  9. from todays GFH:
  10. Ditto.
  11. Here has been some discussion on the topic already: http://siouxsports.com/forums/index.php?sh...indpost&p=71168
  12. If that pucks counts as a goal it's a whole new ballgame. IMHO turning point of the game.
  13. Interesting that GF now has two Relays for Life's one in the one hosted by UND and the other by Grand Forks.
  14. I think it was pretty obvious to a lot of people that the Phil Kessel thread was destined for idiocy. hmm.... The topic clearly stated: "Phil Kessel, a gopher recruit, had a good showing at the U-18 Championship and will single handily dominate the Sioux."
  15. I'll take it. It's all in good fun.
  16. Going through 75 Years of Fighting Sioux Hockey History I found this quote interesting to go along with NorthDakotaHockey in his topic http://siouxsports.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3740&hl=
  17. I seem to have misplaced my Fight on Sioux book and was condering if it was worth purchasing a new when I still have 75 Years one. I know the Herald made the Fight on Sioux and was basically giving them away at Sioux hockey games.
  18. Cratter

    Phil Kessel

Theres the problem SKippy your gophers were beating our club team from until 1937 therefore UND doesnt' count them in their overall records....for obvious reasons, but I'll let other try and explain them to you.
  19. You realize you put "you can" instead of "can you"? I assume bigmrg74 knows he can post "that junk" on "his website" without you telling him he can. I agree with others that this information is not junk, and I'm glad he posted it here (and because it opened up discussion of the NFL draft & Bowenkamp situation). BigGame is right in assuming you spoke for everyone using "siouxsports" and never the word "I".
  20. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I don't care who gets the best recruits: Sioux, Gophers, or Michigan (Pretty sure they do year after year with the development team in their backyard) and I don't care where they come from GF, ND, MN, Canada, or Australia. All I care about is what they do for the Sioux (on and off the ice) and how hard they play for the Sioux, and most importantly how they play as a TEAM, cause talent alone doesn't get one to far.
  21. Here's what people are saying on d2football.com http://d2football.com/board/index.php?showtopic=3637
  22. Now that legislature is over did UND get their money?
  23. Just so you know its spelled Candidates in case you didn't know.
  24. I have a question for our beloved Monster. Isn't the Wink, Smily, and Silly (the eye roller) all sorta contradicting each other? Is it a way to be serious and try to express your opinion without getting into a confrontation? and another quick question whats the "MRG74" stand for?
