President Kelly and the UND administration told the Board to start to retire the nickname. My statement stands. I am still flabbergasted one man gets to choose the nickname.
-
Did I read that right, the man that gave up on the Sioux nickname by wanting its retirement before the deadline (Nov 30), is going to pick the name nickname!?! One contemporary man? The first step should be emailing State Board of Higher Eds. The process normally goes something like: 1) Hire a committee of UNDers to submit a list of names to the NDSBHE. 2) NDSBHE votes on a new nickname. This is the biggest outrage ever. I can't believe they wrote that. Who cares the "process" Kelley uses. In the end it won't matter. He will choose some PC name he likes. Bears, Eagles, Ground Hogs, Elk, Moose, Fish, Sunshine, Snowflakes (oh and you better believe "Spirit" just ain't for marketing. Neither was the "Force.") (although ND Fighting Spirit I like . We have the spirit of fighters , but it would never have the word "fighting" in it.) This deserves its own thread: News Flash (from UND officials) NO ONE MAN SHOULD HAVE THIS KIND OF POWER!

Is the climate changing for us to have record flood after record flood? I know a 100 year flood doesn't necessarily mean 1 in a 100 years but 1% chance any given year. I think they need to change that saying or something. Given this rate 60 foot permanent flood protection in the grand cities doesn't seem adequate, especially given the foot or more added to future crests once fargo gets their permanent dikes built. 2010 flood at GF 46 foot 2009 flood in GF 51 foot 2006 flood in GF 48 foot 1997 flood in GF 54 foot 2011 50% chance of second highest flood on record?

They replaced the cooling elements. That problem is suppose to be fixed. -
I heard you have a mancrush on coach hak.

Just point out that this Sioux win wasn't necessarily an upset (according to his computer ranks which is used by the BCS). 50-50 http://masseyratings.com/team.php?t=5538&s=101140

This team is fun to watch...and they are young! They have come a long ways together this year. They are making good progress. The future looks bright.

You are holding on to a pipe dream. Still be "here" unofficially. UND will not be officially known as the Fighting Sioux. The bill will not pass.

Anyone else get their Final 5 Tix and are absolutely

Yeah cause its so hard to make a phone call these days. I wonder how people have time to browse message boards. They must got have much going on. -
Gotta love those 5 suburban "small" cities in the top 20 from one metro. How could Minn/St Paul not be the best large city?

Don't forget Sioux fans, the games also on Fox College Sports.

If UND goes with one of the two quarterbacks I watched at Montana, I would expect 4-7. (the last 7 games for UND last year, they went 1-7) Thu, Sep 01 Drake (Military Appreciation Day) Grand Forks, N.D. 7:00 p.m. Win Sat, Sep 10 Idaho at Moscow, Idaho TBA Loss Sat, Sep 17 Fresno State at Fresno, Calif. TBA Loss Sat, Sep 24 Black Hills State (Hall of Fame/Potato Bowl) Grand Forks, N.D. 6:00 p.m. Win Sat, Oct 01 Southern Utah * at Cedar City, Utah TBA Loss Sat, Oct 08 Montana Western Grand Forks, N.D. 1:00 p.m. Win Sat, Oct 22 Cal Poly (Homecoming) * Grand Forks, N.D. 1:00 p.m. Loss Sat, Oct 29 Northern Colorado at Greeley, Colo. 2:35 p.m. Loss Sat, Nov 05 Sioux Falls Grand Forks, N.D. 1:00 p.m. Loss Sat, Nov 12 UC Davis * at Davis, Calif. 4:05 p.m. Loss Sat, Nov 19 South Dakota * Grand Forks, N.D. 1:00 p.m. Win (This could be a toss up)

I guessing every state has a resident/nonresident tuition fee thats probably double or triple. Why not have reciprocity for the whole country? Isn't the whole resident/nonresident thing a joke? You want instate UND tuition? Get your apartment and go get your ND drivers license (or if you wanna do it legally move to ND for twelve month. In essence you would be getting "paid" approximately $9,000 for that year. ($15,000-$6,000) You could even be taking online classes during that time (I am guessing there is no resident/nonresidence for that.) Don't out of staters get instate tuition after a year usually anyways? (cause they then essentially become ND residents?)
-
Shouldn't all students pay the same? Doesn't it cost the same to teach a student from North Dakota as it does from California?
-
My bad. You are right. Its only three times as big.
-
7:07 Start times both nights at the Ralph. Both games on Fox College Sports. Minnesota (17-7-2) travels to North Dakota (15-9-2). Where the fourth team in the conference hosts the second team. Will the Sioux be able to sweep the gophers again this season? Will the Sioux set a attendance record? http://operation3201.com/?KEY=&DB_OEM_ID=13500&DB_LANG=C&IN_SUBSCRIBER_CONTENT=

I can find valid reasons to close a lot of topics. Doesn't it seem talking about UND topics on Bisonville is more productive than talking about an NDSU's student getting a minor? (especially when we don't even play that team). I have seen plenty of name calling/personal attacks in the Sioux name threads. Or a thread about a NDSU's coach with a lead foot doing traffic safety ads? It seems one of the most common reasons topics get closed is people say. "can we close this thread now." or "here we go again." Because people don't like seeing/reading them. Should people start posting I love this thread please don't close it? And with 3?4? moderators it only takes one who is unhappy about it for any number of reason to close it. It's self regulating. People wanna talk about things and they go to the topic. Boring topics fall off. At the end of the day its just talk, speculation, rumors, etc. As long as there is no personal attacks. If a subject goes off topic. Delete all those posts. Should I just start another Fire Hak thread? At least two have already been closed. bisonville/gpl/whatever bashing does nothing for UND athletics but people love it, that's why they are such hot topics. (even though I basically never do it) Just my opinion.

There is no shortage of computers with internet at the GF Public Library. I live close and use the computer there quite often in the past year. Never had to wait once. There is no serious need for a new library.

The World Record for 2,750 consecutive free throws is Dr. Tom Amberry and he went to UND, and has worked with the Chicago Bulls. Maybe he can work with UND too. http://www.freethrow.com/FreeThrow/DrTomInfo.htm

There was more than one study done before the voting on the Alerus Center stating it would lose money. With that knowledge the majoriy of people still voted for the Alerus Center.
