  1. Has "Challengers" been thrown out there yet? Doesn't offend anyone and makes perfect sense for a sports teams name!
  2. When all is said and done. I'd bet Cavalry will be head and shoulders better than the actual nickname UND comes up with. Where can I get one of those shirts? Although I'd like a green one.
  3. That's why I didn't predict. 55-17 like when Montana came to the Alerus last year.
  4. Sac State last year played San Jose and lost 24-0. Then later Sac State came to UND and won 31-7. 17-38 SJSU
  5. I don't think it just be beating BSC opponents. It'd have to be winning numerous championships and beating FBS teams regularly including Big Ten teams (which doesn't appear as a possibility anymore). The standards are now set pretty high for UND football (by what state football fans are seeing from the Bison) and as it sits today a win against them (3 time defending champs). Would go a long way in installing confidence in what the program could become (at least for the fans). It's a giant step forward vs baby steps. And more people might take notice in those giant steps (beating an FBS or NDSU). Of course the deal sucks, no doubt about it. But we go play FBS teams all the time for money, no one seems to care (why? Money? Chance to beat the "big boys"?). In essence, it's the same. Of course NDSU isn't FBS, but besides the "title" the reasons are the same. This would be ok to schedule if NDSU declares FBS? Because if they do we will be guaranteed they never step foot in the Alerus. They have the stadium for it, UND doesn't. Brock Jenson said beating Kansas State was the biggest win in the programs history (and that was after winning back 2 back championship games). So just winning the BSC, while a great first step, I don't think does much for the program. They'd need to go deep into the playoffs.
  6. At least 30,000. For some playoff games they could probably sell 35,000 (semifinals) and this upcoming UND game. Maybe 40,000. West Fargo, Fargo, Moorhead has added 55,000 people since the Fargodome first opened. The size of Grand Forks so in theory add an Alerus center to it (13,000 seats).
  7. Does posting in this thread stop people from posting in other threads? Do you tell other people at the Thanksgiving Dinner table what they should be talking about?
  8. They say it's our "Super Bowl", but than another fan will turn around and say if they lose to UND it will "wipe out their accomplishments of the last decade." Point: Anyone can say anything. Doesn't make it true or important or right.
  9. And UND is helping ensue NDSU comes to the Alerus sooner than they would have by agreein to this. Because no one knows the future the games could have been off the table for another ten years....but now it's gonna start again....and pretty neive to believe NDSU will neve set foot in the Alerus ever again in your lifetime....UND looks like the good guy right to the people of the state by agreeing to this and it will put a tremendous amount of pressure on the new NDSU AD moving forward to go to GF.
  10. If, just if, UND wins will it be good for recruiting, selling tickets, or anything else? Again it's not all Faisons fault. He was being a good AD and listening to his football coach and boosters.
  11. My favorite quote from Bisonville the last day: "If UND somehow manages to beat us, that's going to wipe out the accomplishments of our last decade!" #thepowerofUND
  12. And the Bison fans are ready coming out of the woodwork. UND is the most talked about topic on Bisonville surpassing there FBS wins and championships.
  13. Since when did NDSU start press conferences to announce future home games? #thepowerofUND
  14. For everyone that's blaming Faison, Bubba said go ahead sign it. Are we already changing our tune "in Bubba we trust"?
  15. There is a bridge/bypass up north so that doesn't make any sense to build a new one. And by not having one on the South end you're taking all the trucks from the south and forcing them all the way through town increasing congestion. Quite the opposite of blocking off growth, a bridge would help growth.
  16. Wasn't the last game played at UND anyways? So naturally UND has to return first....and after that it "starts over" in the FCS era with the start in Fargo and a nice paycheck?
  17. Was gene Taylor forced out for not wanting to schedule UND?
  18. If it was the only way to get the rivalry going again so be it.
  19. Here's an interesting read from the GF MPO from 2000. http://www.theforksmpo.org/PDFs/metroforks.pdf They thought GF would have 60,000 by now. I think it's more than just oil (Bismarck was already on its way to passing), but unfortunately it looks like GF could go from (formerly) being 2nd largest in ND to possibly 5th.
  20. A city can only grow so much in any certain time. Both williston and fargo are experiencing shortage of workers. Just this month four people were hurt in williston when a building collapsed...
  21. Williston is having tremendous growth which is great for the state, but like I said for everything you see being built in Williston, just know more is being built in the Fargo Moorhead area. And when more is being built in the FM area (and the census shows more people moved to FM than Williston the last few years) than Williston it will be hard to surpass. Last year Williston granted $350 million in new construction, while The FM area had over $525 million in new construction granted. And this year Williston is on pace to do even less than last year. While Fargo this year has already surpassed last years, which was a record.
  22. Not even the "Craziest Fargo Haters" think Williston will surpass the the Fargo Metro. While that convention center is nice, Fargo is also building a massive new 11 story $500 million hospital. The largest private industry construction project in the history of the Dakotas. For every nice new building Williston gets. Fargo probably is getting something just as equivalent. Williston is finally getting a Menards. Moorhead got a new one a few years ago.
  23. I got a box in the bottom right hand side of my phone that I can't get to go away. Reads: "with 1 checked posts" Next to a "drop box" and a "go" button. I click the drop box nothing happens as it appears empty...I've clicked go and nothing happens. Tried logging out and back in but box is still there.
  24. Another long overdue project. Could you imaging anytime someone in fargo wanted to go to Moorhead they'd have to drive downtown.
  25. Contract will state Bison get 80% of all ticket sales on any neutral site.
