  1. You stopped at being on the base dance team; you didn't read far enough ...
  2. Uh ... yes, UND does. Last time I saw them they really, ... uh ... well ... uh ... , they're getting better.
  3. Really want to puke? Here's one of the attorneys the NCAA used in ND during the settlement agreement period. Look at the wonderful things he's gone on to do: - Get elected as a judge in Cass County - Sexually harass a subordinate http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/240455/
  4. The problem is Congress* and the Federal law called Title IX which mandates schools offer equivalent opportunities for mens and womens sports. Call your Congressman. The other option is to ignore Title IX and be taken to task by the Federal Justice Department. Hint: Womens hockey is cheap compared to that. * Title IX is Federal law, not an NCAA rule or policy.
  5. If college athletics programs, sport by sport, had to be fiscally self-sustaining, how many would exist? I'm guessing a few FB programs, some MBB programs, a couple WBB programs, a couple mens hockey programs, and not much else. So in all honesty, everything else, 90% or more of college athletics, is a "money pit".
  6. I thought I read that Hakstol became an American citizen and now has a US passport.
  7. I'm thinking Vandrovec got the idea for that article about ticket sales and revenues from reading ... this thread, specifically the nice work and analysis done by FSSD (posts 69, 70, and beyond).
  8. Is that like wrestling neutralizes a lot of money at some schools?
  9. Seriously? A reaper is a harvester. First it was a person with a scythe; then it was a machine by McCormick. Those built the basis of this state. Today it's a UAV. For all of history it's been the image of the one we'll all meet sooner or later. There's centuries, not "trendy". Ultimately, you don't like the idea because it's something worth a look. As far a "Flickertails", in today's marketing driven world that won't work, too similar, with the "Midas-touched rodetia" immediatelly to the state's east. Again, to those that like North Stars, hey consider it, but also consider it's the state motto of Minnesota. (And I do believe the NHL ownership group in Dallas still owns that name.) As far as Rough Riders, Lt. Col. T. Roosevelt was a "Rough Rider". Who's he? Just the the guy who said, "I would have never been President if not for my time in North Dakota." You may have heard of that guy. There's only a National Park in the state named for him.
  10. Sure is gonna be a nice day.
  11. So if Parise and Suter are worth 13 years and $98 million, what are some of the other guys around the NHL worth now?
  12. Well, just look what signing Mauer and Morneau to big deals have done for the Twins.
  13. It's just a renaming to better align things: University of North Dakota >> College of Engineering and Mines >> School of Geology and Geological Engineering
  14. Personally, I thought Mussman to replace Lennon was a shaky choice. I didn't like what I saw out of Muss' first couple teams. But the last couple season have shown me some key things: He's building a team. More importantly, he's grown as a coach. I'm pretty sure neither of his first two teams could've or would've come back against USD like his team last year did. That takes coaching and it takes a team that's starting to believe in itself. With that he's on a good path and needs to keep growing his team, his staff, and himself as a coach.
  15. If you're going that theme why not ... SCOUNDRELS Yeah, I know everyone would call UND "dirty rotten ... "
  16. http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/240012/
  17. You really think "Oilers" would pass muster with the same political mindset that had problems with the previous moniker? Oil is e-e-e-evil doncha know.
  18. When I heard Parise's fiancee was in MSP Zach flying back to MSP made perfect sense. You're about to get married. You're about to make the second biggest decision of your life so far. Wouldn't you want to talk it through with the biggest decision in your life in person?
  19. I keep looking for "tells" from teams to understand what their mindsets are. Pittsburgh gave the biggest tell so far when they moved Stahl.
  20. NJD just pushed in another pile of chips: They re-signed the goaltending tandem of Brodeur and Hedberg.
  21. That's easy: Cup. If NJD had won the Cup I'd say it'd be better than 50-50 of him in Minnesota. Now, with LAK with the Cup he's going to a contender is my guess.
