  1. OK, no Rocco. <shrug> So we need another forward ... or two ... (meaning I'm wondering if Sanderson will be here in the fall). Here's the crazy notion of the day: Leave Panzarella (D) at forward and bring in Chartrand (D) this fall. That puts the roster at 15F/8D/3G.
  2. You can't negotiate with an empty chair. The ND tribes never sat down to talk about ways UND could keep that moniker. Quite frankly, their loss. Proof? Northern Ute Tribe Chairman Gordon Howell: "“We are very proud that they use our name. It’s not just a name to us." The Utes see it with pride. The Sioux tribes? Nope. <-- Their loss.
  3. I'm pretty sure Kelley's full comment is, "Under advice of UND legal council, and until final resolution of this matter, my comment is 'no comment'."
  4. Stereotype or unfortunate reality? Regarding alcohol: Frequency of use among American Indians is generally less than the general population, but the quantity consumed when it is consumed is generally greater.* * Beals J, Spicer P, Mitchell CM, et al. (October 2003). "Racial disparities in alcohol use: comparison of 2 American Indian reservation populations with national data". Am J Public Health 93 (10): 1683–5. doi:10.2105/AJPH.93.10.1683. PMC 1448033. PMID 14534221. When an American Indian consumes alcohol it is consumed in greater quantity, leading to the "drunk" impression. Unfortunate, but also more than likely the source of the stereotype, and there's the source data / academic citation.
  5. The Pens-Rangers is coming down to who is out-goalie-ing whom. And it's Fleury winning the battle. Whodathunkit.
  6. And they've been "busy" with your girlfriend.
  7. Minor in possession of alcohol is a citation, no jail, no bail. Johnboy can explain.
  8. "Other than folks in this region ..."
  9. Other than folks in this region, how many people, honestly, understood that obtuse, obscure reference? Step clear from your opinions/biases either way. I'm thinking it went right over the head of the vast majority of viewers.
  10. Because it so closely follows what she sees at home every day?
  11. They don't call that "thanking", it's called "frisking" by the police.
  12. What's all the uproar? There is no "Dakota University" ... other than maybe Si Tanka College (a college run by Dakota Sioux). I sure hope they aren't "dis-ing" those folks. The University of North Dakota has no moniker, no mascot: no problem.
  13. It's a good day to not have a moniker or mascot.
  14. So you've seen his girlfriend.
  15. Logo? A little green trim and good to go.
  16. Yeah, but I'll take Wild Hog in GF over most other restaurants.
  17. I'll say it again: If a player has an obvious shortcoming (pun intended) they must have some other devastatingly good part to their game to make up for it. Is Rocco devastatingly fast (ala Nathan Gerbe)? Does Rocco have Gretzky-esque on-ice vision? Can Rocco's shot dent the pipes? He's very, very good, but not NHL ready.
  18. Too Minnesota/Wisconsin.
  19. If it were my choice, it'd come down to Rough Riders or Mjolnir with Nokota/Nokes ( <-- war ponies) coming in third.
  20. Mjolnir, What is it? "The War Hammer". " ... that which smashes ... " The most powerful weapon in Norse-Germanic mythology, and only those worthy may wield it. "Mjölnir is depicted in Norse mythology as one of the most fearsome weapons, capable of leveling mountains." <-- That would explain ND's topography.
  21. Why do the Wild wear the green jerseys and not the maroon jerseys at home (in The X) in the playoffs? Think about it ...
  22. <comment here about "if it's on the internet it must be true" >
  23. They're, as in "they are". You missed it ... twice. <facepalm> There: a place, as in "over there". Their: possessive, as in "give that back, it's theirs, not yours". They're: a contraction for "they are", as in "They are facing class B misdemeanors". Signed, The Society to Prevent Cruelty to the English Language
