  1. Hey! Doug Woog can hear you.
  2. Last call. Winners (losers?) announced at 3:30 pm today.
  3. Interesting that the presser is at the Gorecki Alumni Center and not Hyslop, HPC, or REA.
  4. Q: How do you keep idiots in suspense? A: Find out at 3:30.
  5. Radical, dude.
  6. There are still folks out there cheering for everything from the the Stanford Indians to the Dickinson State Savages. Heck, I'm sure there are Grand Forks Central fans still calling them Redskins. The word is anachronism.
  7. If the public knew the real costs (and losses), there'd be a big push to eliminate non-revenue sports. State Sen Blowhard J. Rumpwarmer*: "Why are we supporting all these sport programs? What value are they giving to my constituents who are 350 miles from campus and have no jobs and broken streets and infrastructure in their town? Why are we taxing fixed-income widows in my district so some college boys and girls can travel around the country playing games?" I still say the NCAA is the issue. I fundamentally disagree with the NCAA notion that if you want to play Sport X at Level N you must sponsor Y other (total) sports. *Yes, he does sound like Foghorn Leghorn, I say, I say.
  8. The B1G started hockey when they had six current members playing the sport (UMn, UW, UMi, MSU, OSU, PSU). They're adding "Our Lady of South Bend" as an affiliate. We hear the whispers here about "an eighth MIH" school for B1G hockey. A conference really only works at six. Who of that MIH group has WIH (right now as I type)? UMn, UW, OSU, PSU, "that whispered affiliate". I'd say Notre Dame might be a decent sixth.
  9. I think I'm pickin' up what you're puttin' down. Start with the base jerseys of today* (sans lettering, numbers, and the interlocked ND). Put the new logo on the shoulder (replacing the interlocked ND). That's it for the logo for now. Use the new font on the jersey (front and back) for letters ... and numbers? Change the homes from "North Dakota" to "Fighting Hawks". *I do believe we'll need to tweek the current jersey shade of green so we don't conflict with the logo (which is defined at Pantone 347). Sample before I cut check.
  10. To me, once BU got possession that's the limit to as far back as they should be able to review. Another question: Did they reset the game clock back to the time of the "off-sides"?
  11. There're some words you seldom see strung together.
  12. I swear I saw an interview earlier this season where 19 was wearing a Fighting Hawks logo cap. Think it was an episode of TTD.
  13. I see what you did there.
  14. Jones is in the "five years to do four competitive seasons" rule. And he's transferring so he must sit out a season. He wasn't hurt when he left OSU so that year is burned. Thus, Jones only has two competitive seasons left, i.e. junior.
  15. Like I said earlier, that group of 4, 5, 6, 24, and 28 is the key for next year. And the year after.
  16. There's a key few have brought up: Regular season rules and that's a good goal.
  17. Tony Hrkac, Steve Johnson. Boundless others.
  18. His age. If he's not in the NHL he's not in the AHL but in MJ.
  19. Live cam from Red's UMich office:
  20. I agree completely and for one very important reason: Jonathan Toews. Yes, Jon Toews. Nick Schmaltz gets to show up and be "new guy Nick" and learn under Captain Serious. There is no one of that nature in Colorado. That would not help Tyson Jost's development and could be a drag on his career. If Tyson needs to come in and be "The Man", give him the time to learn that role at UND before throwing him in at Colorado.
  21. Like I told PCM in a text last night when DU scored their ENG: "Officials now reviewing to see if DU offsides at 6 minute mark of second period."
  22. He still juniors-eligible age wise so Jost would fall under those rules (to MJ, not AHL).
  23. From PCM's take on the off-sides rule: I'd say if the goal was scored right off the line rush, sure, review, and disallow. However, if the play was so close that the officials allowed it at entry by the attackers, and if the defending team got defensive zone possession (not a clear, just possession) you do not review back for an off-sides entry if a goal is scored. Before you ask, "What is possession", I'd define it as whatever would stop play if a delayed penalty were about to be called (just a puck-controlling touch is enough).
