  1. You base this upon?
  2. I can agree with one of those (avoiding conference rematches), but the other, geography, aka regionalization, is a pox and an abomination to an equitable national championship bracket. The SRS having no bearing on bracketing is not how other NCAA brackets are formed, and is pure folly. See: SH v HC. Use it or not. Sort of using it is no better than DSFRWSAS. If you're going to regionalize, why not declare four sites for each of the first two weekends and bring in four teams to each. Each site hosts a Saturday FCS playoff double-header. When there are eight teams left, go back to home sites until the title game. < exhale > < rant mode off >
  3. It giveth, it taketh away.
  4. I believe I said this about the transfer portal in the hockey forum: Going forward, your connections, your human intelligence network, is more valuable than ever. It will give you insights, and more important, early insights, on who may come available and if they are a fit to your needs and program. Do we have enough and the right football connections to thrive in this new portal era? For example, Tibesar may be out as DC at Oregon State, but what's he know? Landry is at Temple, ... and? File this under "off field game management" and something to observe.
  5. Well, they have the head coach position posted: https://prd.hcm.ndus.edu/psc/recruit/EMPLOYEE/HRMS/c/HRS_HRAM_FL.HRS_CG_SEARCH_FL.GBL?Page=HRS_APP_JBPST_FL&Action=U&FOCUS=Applicant&SiteId=1&JobOpeningId=2937340&PostingSeq=1&
  6. Thanks for the info @Hammersmith ... but it's still gross and seems horribly unjust. And I'm still interested in the 2021 FCS SRS numbers. Using (Massey/Sagarin) Ratings this week: Holy Cross (31/151) v. Sacred Heart (84/202) Northern Iowa (6/99) v. EWU (4/94) For reference UND is (14/122). Note: Sagarin ratings are all DI, not just FCS.
  7. I've seen how UND Hockey players "decorate" where they live. That's all I'm gonna say about that. Signed, Former Walsh Hall RA
  8. I hope you're right. And whatever that Bison OL mojo is, can he bring some of that with? No disrespect to our guys, but NDSU has been the dominant OL in FCS for over a decade. It's OK to learn from them.
  9. Nelson entering the portal isn't great, but here's hoping the coaches focus on it as opportunity, not loss.
  10. Added two words.
  11. I believe he's referencing going on 4th down on the "minus 20" in the third against NDSU. That was so out of character, so off script, I could not believe what was happening. Be aggressive, but on the "plus 20". To use the hockey phraseology, sometimes high off the glass IS the best play.
  12. But will we do better going forward? I ask based on Richmond 16 <--> MoiSt 21. I'd love for performance to shut us all up but until it's better pointing out the problems is warranted.
  13. There's one thing worse than someone pointing out the problems. That's nobody giving a < bleep >. Never forget: The opposite of love is not hate, it is indifference.
  14. Can anyone find the 2021 FCS SRS (simple ratings system) results? The NCAA site gives me 2019 information. https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/football/fcs/simple-ratings-system I really want to hear justification for Sacred Heart vs Holy Cross. Massey has those two as the two lowest four rated in the field, yet they go head to head.
  15. Seems BC @ Notre Dame Friday night and BC @ Havhvid Tuesday night are postponed. I'll give you ... 19 ... guesses why.
  16. < flipping play chart back and forth > I have it as "Richmond 16 two point oh".
  17. QC/QA analysis says ... see: reverse, Richmond, 2016. We have history on that kind of play (ball deep in backfield, multiple hands on it) in a pressure situation with a lead.
  18. Any good engineer, accountant, finance guy, or QC/QA person will tell you ... if you don't chart it and track it you don't know, and you can't manage it. I guarantee you they know Tommy's passing efficiency in each of the "six zones". (left middle right, short and long) Or do they.
  19. Exactly. ^^^^^^^ See the problem? If you don't chart it and track it you don't know. Does Otis tend to fumble later in games, or early? Does he just need the reminder to go down rather than fight and spin depending on game situation? Quality control.
  20. Nyet! Do I want targeted acquisitions to fill specific needs and roles? Da. (Apparently I had too much vodka last night.)
  21. What's the data say about Otis and fatigue late in games? Does he become fumble prone as carries go up? Should Ziebarth have been brought in fresh to "two-arm" a couple carries to give Otis another minute or two to recover? What's the data say?
  22. Snake, Zorn, Boomer, Young <-- all with the wrong side blind side. The minute you put a southpaw in the rotation you have to start thinking about all the offensive impacts.
  23. Otis fumbled ... which time in the fourth quarter? https://fightinghawks.com/sports/football/stats/2021/missouri-state/boxscore/10387 4th and 2 at MSU29 Weah, Otis rush up middle for loss of 8 yards to the MSU37, fumble by Weah, Otis recovered by MSU Moore,Dimitri at MSU37. or 2nd and 6 at MSU23 Weah, Otis rush over right end for loss of 2 yards to the MSU25, fumble forced by Young,Von, fumble by Weah, Otis recovered by MSU Johnson,Eric at MSU24. The coaches kept him in to fumble the second time.
  24. Every UND loss (save for USU) has a "you realize that if ..." moment in it that turned the game against UND, and those were manageable or plannable moments.
  25. So, after the NDSU game, what did UND's Quality Control coach's evaluation of the performance say? How about after Missouri State? What was their plan to identify and make sure any missteps or errors weren't repeated in future games and did that get to Bubba and his staff? Quality Control coach? Say what? https://www.nj.com/rutgersfootball/2016/01/what_is_a_quality_control_coach_rutgers_assistant.html https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/30/sports/ncaafootball/alabama-college-football-coaches.html Not looking to make work for anyone, and knowing I've never had a head FB coach title so my observations aren't as deep as others', but aren't there friends of Bubba or UND (Tom Dosch, Mike Berg, Mike Mannausau) that could take on such a role (sadly unpaid) and give honest feedback and tips on what to look out for or improve in the future? From an engineering and manufacturing point of view, QC checks the product and if problems are identified works with QA (quality assurance, meaning the coaches) to make sure they aren't repeated.
