And former US NTDP guy Ryan St Louis (presently at Northeastern U) got selected in the first round! Why am I snickering? Oh, now I remember why ... this! https://forum.siouxsports.com/topic/32660-2022-23-university-of-north-dakota-hockey-season/page/40/?tab=comments#comment-1239904 Stats for comparison: St Louis https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=228230 Spicer https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=238292 Ryan St Louis "is" Cole Spicer plus one year of age to the day (meaning height, weight, stats) and St Louis is going from college to the USHL.

Grand Forks based Minnkota Power (MPC) is dealing head-on with the "threat" on that billboard at their Young 1 and 2 power station. It's called https://www.projecttundrand.com/ and is carbon capture. A similar group is against Tundra. MPC just made a deal with Summit Carbon Solutions to take CO2 off of ... corn plants ... and store it in the same wells that Tundra would use.

Curious that it's not considered poaching or tampering.

So not one but two former U-18 US NTDP players are giving every appearance (admitting?) that they're really not ready for college and willing to go to the USHL. If they were "college ready" another school (transfer portal) would offer them; but instead a USHL team is willing to give them a shot, and again no USHL team is risking its first pick on something they know they won't get. These kids will be going to the USHL. Maybe they should've gone to the USHL for a season after the U-18 program before trying college. < cough > ... Spicer ... < cough > Stats for comparison: Ryan St Louis https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=228230 Cole Spicer https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=238292 Ryan St Louis "is" Cole Spicer plus one year of age to the day (meaning height, weight, stats) and St Louis is going from college to the USHL. -
Interesting that the USHL draft is picking guys already on AJHL teams ...

This is good. His confidence should be back after the BCHL and he's playing close to home again.

No matter the name, some UND fan or fans need to get onto this. Getting a collective set up seems like standard practice going forward. Times like this I miss the arena's original benefactor more than ever. He'd get things rolling. -
Nightingale: he's the HC of the USA U-18s and a Michigan State alumnus. I wonder how it worked out the last time they hired a guy with that exact resume. No. Wait. We know. It's Danton Cole, the guy they just fired!

Burnt Ends <-- the collective to pay Texas (color: burnt orange) tight ends Rising Spear <-- for Florida State (think logo on helmet) Apparently you have to have a cutesy name for your NIL collective, so, I'll name it and let someone run it. Henceforth, the collective for UND hockey defensemen shall be known as ... Hello Frisch Or maybe ... Give Blood ? Hammer Time ? -
... except the money to do it. The State of Illinois is broke, ... and broken.

In this Name Image Likeness world, it's not "becoming"; we are.

And yet KELOland (Nexstar) is the most prolific and penetrated media group in that state. Walk into any diner in any SD small town for breakfast or lunch and KELOland news/weather is on the TVs. I fully expect the FCC to approve the Forum Comm acquisition of KVRR (Fox affiliate). The precedent is Sioux Falls. They'd rather allow consolidation than let one of the four die in a market. Me? I'll enjoy watching Mike McFeely squirm when his Forum Comm paycheck comes from an organization also broadcasting Fox News personalities. (I guess that goes for Schlossman too.)

What I enjoy: Forum Comm holds the WDAY-TV license Flag Family Media holds the WDAY-AM license Midwest Communications holds the KOYY-FM license (which up to 2016 was the WDAY-FM license)

College Power-Brokers Poised to Turn NCAA Upside Down
The Sicatoka replied to northernraider's topic in NCAA News
The NIL (name image likeness) world gives the schools the easy out: They don't control the money. As the NCAA statement says The NIL agreement is between a person (who just happens to be a student-athlete) and an outside (meaning not the school) party. All the school can do is ask the two parties to comply with state law (see above). So, the schools: They don't touch the money. They aren't responsible for who gets what. They are not party to the NIL School X: "Gee, Title IX inspector, we don't control that local car dealer, who is a football alumnus, and giving $50k each to offensive linemen*; we don't control that he won't even give a broken pool noodle to the women's swimming team. There's nothing we can do about it." NIL is the perfect scheme for the rich of college athletics to get richer. *Reportedly already happening at UT Austin. -

Eliminating mandated numbers of sports would actually be an acceptable outcome to me. You'd still have to be Title IX compliant, but wouldn't have to support some mandatory arbitrary number of M/W sports to be "in NCAA compliance". -

The scoring for Radio: This too reads as .... Money is important (25%). Coverage, Promotion, and Content rules the decision.

I'll just leave this here. It makes as much sense as the last couple pages of this thread.
