  1. < snark to follow, be warned > I don't like the shade of grey they chose much less the use of the standard (non-block) font, that's too Hawks for me, ... and don't get me started on the logo on the shoulders ... Disclaimer: There is no grey jersey at this time. The preceding was intended to twist the tails of both Wilber and MafiaMan.
  2. Pretty sure his stick was about 1/2" below the crossbar when he got that one.
  3. Yes, UND has a different Athletics funding model. Yes, UND's Athletics and overall financial house is presently in order under that model; by comparison, NDSU's house at this time.
  4. Don't confuse the State's "general fund" with "general funds" (monies allocated from the state to be used at local discretion) in the university budget. And yes, UND uses its general funds monies to fund Athletics. If you reallocated from NDSU's "general funds" right now to Athletics you'd have even more programs and staff to cut than what's on slides 8-10. Is this where we question why NDSU thinks the ND Legacy Fund should be tapped for their research initiatives (slide 15). And shouldn't salary and operations increases be part of a managed annual budget and not special "legislative request" items (slide 16).
  5. CHL/NHL Top Prospects game was last night. Worst +/- on the evening? https://kubotatopprospects.ca/gamecentre/541/boxscore
  6. You're talking doubling NDSU's FB budget to be AAC average. That's $5 million bump at least. And even if they are football-only Title IX impacts still apply. If they add 22 mens grants they add 22 womens grants. It's a big lift. 7. ... and the rest of us get caught in the concussion.
  8. ... or as a rumor to (as PA of KFAN would say) "sell hope".
  9. Some scoffed at "online education". Others went in. And yet others are all in: Arizona, Purdue, and now Arkansas. https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2023/01/26/report-u-arkansas-system-may-buy-university-phoenix
  10. Tunnel and Lucier are hacks. Ross 'Mad Dog' Madison https://www.sporcle.com/games/Hop_On_Pop/charlestown-chiefs-vs-opponents/results
  11. You might get me to buy a ticket to that.
  12. He hasn't ripped a top 6 spot away from someone else.
  13. They hired the SIU DC last night.
  14. That is the most self-contradicting thing I believe you've ever written, because the last thing I think of when I think "Randall Herbst" is spotlight personality.
  15. Do Tim 'Dr. Hook' McCracken, Ogie Ogilthorpe, or Clarence 'Screaming Buffalo' Swamptown have eligibility left?
  16. Ask UM-Duluth about Sandelin. Ask SDSU about Stig. If you believe you have made the right choice in the long run you ride out the short term pain.
  17. However, it did work for them DII -> FCS.
  18. What else is in the Legislature? https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2023/01/26/bill-north-dakota-presidents-could-fire-tenured-faculty
  19. The Sens looked like UND in their own zone when ... NHL All-Star Brock Nelson ... scored.
  20. But how will that play in the tall building on the eastern shore of the Missouri in Burleigh County? The Legislature is pushing hard for workforce across the State. Seeing faculty positions cut, and declining enrollment, while prioritizing football will not sit well with many western legislators. They will start asking hard questions about why are those donors not funding the university to get the workforce those same donors (eastern business) are clamoring for. It would only give the Legislature more reason to be skeptical of higher ed funding and that hurts all of NDUS.
  21. So the AAC is going to reach over the MAC, C-USA, the MWC, the SBC, into FCS, to add a football only. Looking at the AAC footprint I'd say they have a hole: Georgia. I'd more expect the AAC to go after an Atlanta area school. Why? Travel, demographics.
  22. Guesses? Monty, 13, 6, and Cheese.
  23. Kraken primary and secondary logos are still simple complexity, and excellent.
  24. Follow above link, slide 11, sub-bullet 3. That may slow down some athletics aspirations.
  25. And thus the pain begins at NDSU. (They should've dealt with it back in 2016 like UND did.) NDSU president Cook sent this out to faculty and students earlier today: When it says "link" it's this: https://www.ndsu.edu/fileadmin/president/images/President_Cook/draft_ideas_NDSU_Format-1.25.23_Final__003_.pdf
