And the University of Idaho Vandals keep getting a free pass. (Yo, GK, don't you know a former athlete for the Vandals?) As do the San Diego State Aztecs (because Aztecs are Native Mexicans, not Native Americans, and thus not worthy of "protection" by the NCAA).

Mr. Bohl must not have gotten the official Bison memo on the subject: Nobody cares about hockey. For a big, bad DI(-AA) they sure do worry a great deal about the lil' ol' neighbors to the north.

I see Michigan. If the lads who put on the jerseys Friday night are smart that's all they see too.

Old joke ... Q: How do you keep an idiot in suspense? A: I'll tell you tomorrow. Ba-dump-bump .... ting!

If Smaby left we have Bina coming back and Jake Marto coming in. Finley should be able to handle the "big guy" role by then (and Lee should be filling out that 6'3" frame). Anything beyond that is pure speculation.

They should have never been handed out with that error. A formal letter of apology from the WCHA to the University of North Dakota is in order. I believe the same would be true from Red Baron (and maybe theirs should have a check with it). PS - Red Baron is part of Schwan's. Boycott (until they apologize) anyone? http://www.schwansfoodservice.com/Brands/RedBaron.asp

Lennon has just moved himself to be the ILB coach. He gave over QB coaching responsibilities (in addition to OC) to Mussman. (Mussman will be handing off O-line duties.) Coincidence? I think not.

'Hating' is a perjorative word. I believe fans want, if a change is made, a total housecleaning and fresh start. 'Hate' isn't the word; 'change' is.

Uh, in a word, no. From the NCAA's web site: UND home average hockey attendance (2003-04): 10870 2005 NCAA mens basketball teams with better home average attendance? Just 33 of 326 of them (10%). PS - Minnesota mens BB average in 2005: #35, 10566.

Moral of the Story: Don't mess with the green on March Seventeen.

Now everyone say it with me: All we want in WCHA Semifinal #2 is a sesquicentenial-dupple-dee-whoo-pee-dee-overtime game!

How many times did we miss an empty net today?

Kaip? Again? Kaip. That must be Irish.

Thought he'd lost 'em.

'sconnie is the higher seed, and thus the home team, and will wear white. Think Hakstol will have the team in the black jerseys today?

How about: Recruited. More money. Head of organization. Tough to turn all that down.

Revenues and Expenses of Divisions I and II Intercollegiate Athletics

Don't the GVSU's and UNO's of the world face the same situation (nearby DIs) when it comes to recruits? I'd really like to see the books at NDSU, SDSU, and UNC to know what they are experiencing for expenses and revenues. That would give the clearest picture. -

Figure 9 in the study shows that if you do it right (be in the best 10% making the change) you can show a "paper" (meaning include institutional support dollars) net positive in operating revenue. However, even there in the top 10% it required about $1 MM in institutional support to show this net positive. Know what you're buying, and what it's going to cost if you're buying it, is not a bad philosophy. -

Yup. And that's where the conversation over here about "which programs" would make sense for a potential DI UND begins (and since it already exists we'll just point to it over there). -

Yes. That is the reality we face. If you're saying Sioux fans will convert to Bison fans, no. If you're saying the corporate sponsor dollars may shift, yes, that's possible. Yes, in years we make a Frozen Four. Otherwise, not that much. The Orszag study talks about "revenues" meaning all sources and then breaks out "institutional support, state government support, and student fees" from that. Don't get me wrong. I'd like to move, but I'm also pragmatic enough to want to know cost and conference won't be millstones we drag around for decades. Let's know what is out there and not get surprised. -

What you see there is talked about two paragraphs above the table:
