Forum mentions UND and USD as possible Gateway expansion targets
The Sicatoka replied to MplsBison's topic in NCAA News
The Big Sky folks could be facing a geographic dilemma soon: - the western wing of the BSC is making "departure" noises for west coast based conferences - the Mid-Con and Gateway are creeping west - they could soon be marginalized into a mountainous wedge of the country for a footprint Where will the BSC find schools even further in the future if they don't do something with the footprint now? I don't claim to know how this will all turn out. But I do know we live in interesting times. -
Brad Miller WCHA Offensive Player of the Week
The Sicatoka replied to hockeydog's topic in Men's Hockey
Miller winning it this week, eh, nothing special. I'm sure lots of guys from Georgia have won it. Hey, Kozek, Watkins, take note from Brad. Your turns are next. Get on it. -
This just in: George Ellis 1 NDSU 0 The story. McFeely chimes in also. PS - I'm sure NDSU lost only because Judge Marquart attends Sioux Boosters luncheons. It has to be more of "The Vast Fighting Sioux Conspiracy."
-
Think you missed part the first time.

Mentioning "on retainer", .... Only 8 days until the North Dakota Attorney General and the NCAA's attorneys meet in Northeast Central District Court.
-
I said I could see it; I didn't say I liked the approach.

To me the site-in-question is defined on four sides: - Columbia Road to the west - the tracks to the south - University Ave (not 2nd Ave N) on the north - 25th Street (extended through old REA to the tracks) on the east What's in there now? Old REA, Memorial, a grass FB practice field, (soon to be) a tower to a parking lot(?) from the ramp west of Columbia, and parking. I can only guess what'll be in there in 10-15 years, but I'm almost positive "Step 1" in any project will be making everything there today (save the new ramp tower ) "flat".

As a public service to all UND students, here are two key dates this semester:
-
The only seen eagle feathers on campus were worn by a real, enrolled tribal member. I've seen granite in the floor in the shape of an eagle feather walked on, but that's not an eagle feather.

Do You Think UND's Final Destination Should be Division IA?
The Sicatoka replied to Cratter's topic in NCAA News
One more notion here: UND President Charles Kupchella (August 2006): "We are doing what we set out as our goal: to make this one of the top 100 public institutions, which it already is by many measures, and to position the University so that our successors can make it one of the top 50 universities in the nation." -
Given that, I'm surprised no one linked back to .... Phil Harmeson Curt Kreun Randy Newman now Rick Tonder and Tom Buning Sure are a lot of key people involved in GF government or UND Athletics or UND Facilities floating that trial balloon.
-
I could see Augie doing DI-AA FB like Drake and Alp..., er, I mean Valpo (meaning 0 scholarships).
-
PS - Shame, shame on us, .... not.
-
Gary, dude, you did educate many on this issue. You got many to think about it, and the arguments pro and con, and to decide for themselves. <-- True education. What you didn't accomplish was cajoling the majority to your point of view. <-- Indoctrination. Was your goal education, or indoctrination?

Do You Think UND's Final Destination Should be Division IA?
The Sicatoka replied to Cratter's topic in NCAA News
We talking spectators or state funding (and taxpayer base)? I missed it. -
Does that mean he can no longer use UND's computing system for .... whatever.
-
Again, and at risk of repeating myself: The NCAA is running under an arbitrary and capricious double standard. All or nothing. I can live with either. (That's the only way you can be consistent when this many shades of grey can be demonstrated.)
-
Scientific survey or anecdotal evidence? You decide. Eagle feathers (and eagles) and buffalo and bison are represenataions of Wakan Tonka (sp) (the Great Spirit) in some American Indian religions. It's not a PETA thing; it's a don't "dis" my god or my religious culture by making them a mascot thing. PS - I didn't call anyone anything. I quoted a definition of "hoosier" or "cracker".
-
Your anecdotal evidence does not seem to align with scientific studies, such as: - Peter Harris Research Group, in Sport Illustrated - Annenberg Polling - the study contracted by the Fargo Forum (American Indians in North Dakota who believe the Sioux name and logo are offensive are in the minority by a 61% to 38% margin).
-
From first link in thread: That describes half of my uncles, and a lot of my cousins (and why I went to UND and didn't farm). If I get them to protest, I assume you'll jump right aboard the "anti-Hoosier" bandwagon.
-
I don't know what the NCAA would do, but I know that everyone from BC to UM-Crookston (all "eagles") and from Colorado to Howard (all bison or buffalos) should be afraid of what they could do if this version executive fiat plays through.
-
You may not, but the courts might. Courts tend to like to see folks covered by the same contract dealt with equally, under the same "Covenant of Good Faith and Fair Dealing". I guess I can't see how CMU and UND are being treated with the same "Good Faith and Fair Dealing". Let's see what a judge thinks.

Five powerplay goals and a shorty. Sounds more like a special teams play, than goaltending, issue. I can solve part of it right now: Stay out of the box! How soon they forget.
-
At risk of repeating myself: I really do strongly recommend anyone wishing to debate this take the time to read at least this much: http://siouxsports.com/tmp/Memorandum-Prel...n-state-crt.pdf NDSU fans may not want to believe "UND spin", but the North Dakota Attorney General can't walk into court as plaintiff depending on "UND spin" to win (and he ain't going there to lose). Read his briefs to the court. They're the cleanest (least spin) set of facts on this out there.
