  1. I didn't think a public university could operate via the star chamber code of conduct.
  2. I'm not the expert in these matters, but I do believe some non-revenue sports did continue to play. Then again, NDSU had DI scheduling requirements to meet during its transition that UND (at the time a DII) could not help with, correct?
  3. Former UND AD Roger Thomas' reason for not playing NDSU in football: The NCAA rulebook, namely the negative impact to UND's playoff chances (under the system in place in 2003). "Hard and fast rules" or "hurt feelings of your non-revenue sport coaches". Sound basis for decision made point: Roger Thomas. And don't forget PR bonus point: Buning.
  4. PR point with the average North Dakotan: Buning.
  5. Think: Recruiting tool. Yes, we're in Grand Forks, ND, but your family and friends can watch you from anywhere on the world wide web.
  6. "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody." -- William Henry "Bill" Cosby, Jr., Ph.D. I suspect Illinois will be learning that lesson for itself rather than taking the advice.
  7. And Taylor should've thrown an empty whiskey bottle at him!
  8. And "star2city" and I get accused of being delusional ....
  9. When I saw a thread titled "SCSU National Hockey Center, Recommendations" the phrase "air strike" came to mind ...
  10. Coach Lennon says recruiting starts in the back yard and works out from there: Weston Dressler - Yeah, he's OK. Brady Trenbeath - He, not Weston, has most of the freshman receiving records. Brandon Hellevang - He's on pace to break the PK records of some hack named "Jeff Glas". Bobby Stroup - Digger or Eric Schmidt aren't the freshman sack record holder. Ryan Chappell - Phillip who? Moore what? Find the local gems and work out from there to meet the needs.
  11. Pardon me, but what does mean exactly? Isn't this a group that develops policy already? How have they done it up to this point? Have they no "process" they follow already for developing or revisiting policy? If they don't have that little, why do they exist? Are they really just a coffee klatch?
  12. Now get out there and skate. Or sit.
  13. Are they going to create an "FSU" or "not on the NCAA list" exemption? Or are they going to say "on campus for in-league (WCHA) games" is enough to get them in the door in all sports?
  14. Question posed: What will it take? Answer submitted: Winning this shift, until there is not another shift to win. Nothing matters but this shift, and winning it.
  15. How about, "How come I wasn't invited?" Worse? What the heck does "I didn't even know what to think, feel or say" really mean? Does it mean this MCC minion can't think, feel, or say (regurgitate?) anything that she hasn't been previously spoon-fed by some "enlightened" advisior? There's good value for the "education" dollar. You mean people of one race can have differing opinions about how their culture can be viewed? And heaven help the host if they hadn't been .... they'd be in the sensitivity re-education camp for years to come.
  16. You can transfer FBS to FCS (DI-A to DI-AA) and not sit a year? That seems wrong if both are "DI".
  17. Wouldn't he have to sit out a year for a DI-to-DI transfer? Seeing how CU redshirted him, going to a DI-AA (FCS) school would cost him a year of on-field play, wouldn't it*? * As I understand the rules, he's burned one of the five years redshirting and he'd lose another of the five sitting out due to a transfer. He'd be left with three eligible seasons. Going to UND right now wouldn't cost him a playing season as he would be transferring to a (transitioning) DII and would not have to sit out a year.
  18. So, if this "yes, the word means, but Myles Brand says it means" (non-sensical) logic works .... Why doesn't UND become .... "The Fighting Sioux" --> Woodrow Wilson Keeble, the Fighting Sioux. A tribe? Oh no, no, no. Just this one guy over here, and his family approves. (This approach works for the ND Highway Patrol and the Red Tomahawk based logo on their cars and uniforms.)
  19. The ND Legislature (and many cities) took on "power hour" by adding the "8:00 am" clause a few years back after an NDSU student power-houred himself into an alcohol induced multiday coma (and nearly died) at a north Fargo pub (Bison Turf?).
  20. I don't see football being a huge revenue positive at either UND or NDSU right now. As a matter of fact, it appears, the way OPE has it reported, both are losing money with football. I'll leave the "how OPE has it reported" arguments to the local forensic accountants to dispute. (See Dept of Education data.) But yes, I want a full Alerus Center because that is better than a 2/3 full Alerus Center.
  21. I still want to know how "Illini", the name of a tribe, can still be the moniker at Illinois. What was the Myles Brand of logic: Illini came from Illinois, so it's OK. Uh, Myles, Illinois came from the name of the people who lived there before Europeans: the Illini. You can't tell me Illini came from Illinois in WWII when Illinois came from Illini a couple hundred years before. No, wait, you can tell it to me, but it's still non-sense.
  22. Evidence? Proof? The NCAA doesn't need those. Heck, they won't even visit a campus to try to find them. They'd rather assume. State. Law. Is that anything like ND SBoHE policy (the legislated governing body) stating what UND's moniker shall be? It's sad when the students have to teach administrators about "protected speech, protected freedom of expression and academic freedom". Now read my signature.
