For some reason this is on repeat mode today ... I'd like to dedicate it to Mr. Longie. http://www.seeklyrics.com/lyrics/Eagles/Get-Over-It.html With thanks to Don Henley and the rest of The Eagles.

Omaha and Kearney explored it in the past and the Nebraska legislature had none of it. (It's all about the Huskers.) It was a linked story here at one time. It's mentioned here. The notion's been around since the NCC started shedding teams; however, UNO has massive budget and personnel problems right now. Not. Gonna. Happen.

Many people look at Ritchie Smith and all they see is JQ Paulsen and Joe Chapman. That situation has little to do with this one.
-
Can you read? It has been brought up there. Not. Gonna. Happen. It's all about "Big Red" in Lincoln.

Chicken. Dinner.

Not. Gonna. Happen. Ask the Nebraska Legislature.

fourwindsboy: Given that 2 of 3 people you say are being harmed just yesterday said that, no, they do not believe they are being harmed and do favor UND's moniker, are you sure you're not the one tilting at windmills?

Yeah, but the Swedes reneged on part of the deal: They sent back Jaques L. and Doug R.

I have a simple question for the gallery: Which would be worse for humanity? A) global warming B) global cooling Hint: Think about land suitable for growing food before you answer. Imagine if the wheat belt extended further north, or ended at Omaha. Now, back to flood 2009: Folks, this one's not over for people in Valley City, Lisbon, and all the areas affected when the Sheyenne busted out downstream of Lisbon (Davenport, Walcott). The area north of Fargo where the Rush, Maple, and Sheyenne all come together to spill into the Red will be a lake for the foreseeable future and that affects many people also. Let's not forget about them.

There are five, yes, five, Chippewa tribes in Michigan, but CMU only had to get approval of the nearest one to them. The other four are on the record against CMU's moniker.

Folks, all I see is ... N-U-D. ... Nuds? And that's what other folks first exposed to it will see also. So is the plan to get rights to that Prince tune? ... lets go crazy, lets get NUDs ...

Now that would be great comedy and theatre on the reservations. Control what's yours to control.

Folks, we're just short of Huxley's "Brave New World" and that's the road to Orwell's "1984". To the PC Crowd: I know you think Huxley and Orwell wrote those as instruction manuals or road maps to where you'd like society to be; however, those were warnings about the dangers of an overmanaged society.

This is an issue for the Sioux people to decide. It should be decided by Sioux people. That's what we've heard. Yet I find ... So a Mandan, Hidatsa, or Arikara judge will be making the decision for the Sioux. Pardon me while I sit here smirking.

I don't seem to recall the golden rule as quite that, but I can work with it.

Spirit Lake goes to the polls on April 21.

You don't replace seniors with freshmen. You replace seniors with juniors. You replace freshmen with new recruits. (This is where the monkey standing on the rock that overlooks the valley holds the lion cub up into the sunlight for all the creatures to see.)

I've seen Fink play in the USHL. He can be reasonably effective. (Note the words "shooter", "scorer", "flashy", "power", etc. aren't here.) How much he can be is up to how much he wants to develop.

The number of home dates are limited. Do you want to add someone who may not fill your barn? (And your home gate revenue > NCAA tourney share.) That's the concern I'm hearing from DU fans.
-
The NCAA doesn't do it. Conferences are alignments of schools, by schools, to mutual benefit*. The NCAA doesn't create conferences, the schools do. The NCAA just recognizes them as legitimate for NCAA competition and potential post-season play. * What's the biggest potential "mutual benefit" realignment out there in college hockey? I know it's a running joke, but for those who would form it it would be the Big Ten Hockey Conference: television, name opponents for conference play (think: gate revenue).

(blatant re-post from another thread) Folks, ... Talk's cheap; it takes money to buy whiskey. What WCHA people are saying publicly is one thing. How they vote is determined solely by the fiscal impacts (to themselves) that they perceive. This also applies to MSU-Moorhead's recent statements: Talk's cheap; Do they have the money? (Considering the cuts they're talking about at that school due to budget issues ... ) Put another way? To see how all of this will play out just ... Follow the Benjamins.

How I think things align ... Walski/Dell: It's a goalie thing. Finley/MacWilliam: It's a defenseman thing. Jones/Gleason: It's another defenseman thing. Duncan/Cichy: Smaller shooter/scorers who nearly led their junior league in scoring. Watkins/Kristo: Speedsters, PK specialists, who scored well in juniors (Kristo is talent upgrade, sorry Matt). Martens/Bruneteau: Solid players, but guys you don't notice until what they bring is missing from the line-up. Kozek/Forney: Talented guys, but with some visible weaknesses to their game. Miller/Knight: Fundamentally skilled and talented guys who flew under the radar until they showed up committing to UND. PS - One more as a bonus: Vande Velde/Rowney: Power. Forward. A year from now the "replace list" could well be: Genoway/N Mattson Vande Velde/Rowney - power forward Zajac/Fink - not flashy but effective Gregoire/D Mattson - talent guy Malone/Matt White - power forward Frattin/Rodwell - shooter/scorer That would set up 2011 to be (partially) ... Forbort: a HS junior today with no USHL experience Parks: a 1992 DOB playing for the St. Louis (Midget) selects today O'Donnell: a 1992 DOB playing for the Winnipeg Wild (midget) today Gee, I think I have everyone who's verballed (per Heisenberg's list) accounted for.
