They could do it, but it wouldn't be original.

Yes, but North Dakota will still have 7. That's what this is really about. It's OK, you can cry now.

And how many times must I be called a vile, desparaging term ("racist") for supporting the name before it's a problem. Heck, even the NCAA now admits that good people can disagree on this topic, and yet now I'm compared to the 1960s KKK by this author who has a constant "swastika shows up" problem on their St. Cloud State University campus (a campus with a history of this problem and behavior so much so that they've lost significant dollars and reputation in courts of law). She needs some Windex for that glass house of hers.

Anyone have the GF Herald images (you all are referring to) available to post here?

Folks need to read my signature.

Getting Purpur (and his family, think: spouse) out of Palo Alto and back to Grand Forks would require Houdini-like abilities. He's Duputy AD at Stanford and is provided a home on the Stanford campus. http://gostanford.cstv.com/school-bio/stan-purpur.html

No, those days end when the other sports aren't dependent on hockey revenues to make their, and the overall, budgets.

I believe that spat was settled. The street that runs north-south on the west of the "Nut Lab" (25th?) is the line that'll be extended to the south (to the tracks) and that's the divider.

Mr. Branch's opinion seems to be that if you use an adjective and a tribal name you owe someone some money for using the name. http://www.in-forum.com/Opinion/articles/185634 Well, if that's the criteria, what do North Dakota and South Dakota owe the Dakota? They don't use an adjective, but Iowa would seem to owe the Kiowa as would Illinois owe the decendents of the Illini Confederation. Utah would owe the Utes possibly also. See how far we can take this line of thinking. Great, isn't it.

Uh, yup. http://www.in-forum.com/articles/index.cfm...mp;section=news Given all of this hijinx, I sure hope USA Hockey is smart enough to award the upcoming U-18 tourney to a city with a complete arena. (Geez, did I just wish well for St. Cloud or Providence? OK, Providence.) As far as Blais, he's a great guy and ambassador, but does his resume show enough administrative horsepower?

Now does everyone now understand why Ron McNeil (aka Ron His Horse is Thunder) was so upset when he was given the power (the power he claimed he always wanted) to make this decision? He knew that there would be a day of reckoning, not with the "white man", but on Standing Rock, with his people, that would come with it.

Fun to use the "other side not invited" tact against the Jeanotte crowd, eh?

Sudie needs to deal with the numerous swastikas found around the SCSU campus this semester before she starts pointing fingers lest she risk the label hypocrit. Seems her "Human Relations and Multicultural Education" isn't sticking to those she's "educating".

I had it as more like 106 of 120. (They were good for about the middle 10 minutes of the third Friday, and the last four on Saturday.)

Record in the last 24 games when trailing after 2 periods: 0-24-0.

I'm working a crossword puzzle, and that's the clue. It's six letters and starts with "r" .....

You mean like Lucy Ganje? Or her daughter Holly Annis? Doreen Yellow Bird? Leigh Jeanotte? David Gipp? Mentioning TJ Oshie's only 1/4 Ojibwe, how "Indian" (much less Sioux) is Holly Annis? Wouldn't we have to weight that opinion the same way? Ya'know, this game could get fun fast.

Given PCM's "Nokes" notion, If the team is just toying with an opponent could it be said they're doing the "Noke-a-dope" (with apologies to Muhammed Ali).

"Horse Hockey!"

There's some good horse-sense right there.

(sigh) (shakes head disappointedly) There are two simple rules regarding hockey and injuries at high competitive levels: 1. If you know where a guy is hurtin' you (legally) hit them there. 2. Don't tell them where you might be hurtin' .... or they'll hit you there. So, if you know somone on your team is hurtin', talk about the other team's injuries.

We need to politely move the conversation with the tribes to areas that will make a positive impact on lives. Step One is to point out areas that need improvement, like tribal operations regarding business and economic development. The track record isn't great and to compound it tribal leadership is pointing at everything else as a "real issue". I was happy someone wrote that (finally) and maybe now we can start a decent dialog about what has and has not worked. But it takes both parties to have a conversation. Can the parties sit down and talk about economic development as a step toward better understanding (if other issues are too contentious).
-
This wasn't put here to bash or belittle various folks. This was put here to use as a first talking point to open some of these dialogs between UND and the tribes. The reservations have some issues regarding economic development; UND has an accredited business school and one of the country's best programs in entrepreneurship. It seems like a starting point.

What's this "if" crap? My expectation is to sweep at home. Every. Time. Want to be the best? You'd better be the best in your barn and go from there.

Does this sound familiar? Now, "It's the economy, stupid." How's that? That sound familiar too? So fix the economy, right? Enjoy the reading (or not): http://goliath.ecnext.com/coms2/gi_0199-99...e-Rez-It-s.html
