It's not paranoia when you see Kelley stacking current committees with anti-Sioux moniker folks. The latest was last week's committee that's asking local businesses to also drop the use of the word Sioux. That's classic "wise and knowing" (aka academic elite mindset) move. Yeah, I can really see Siouxland Buffalo changing it's name to make Dr. Kelley and Leigh Jeanotte happy. Given that non-sense, I can't wait to see who's on the moniker committee. The "people in charge" of the Big Ten thought divisions called "Legends" and "Leaders" were a great idea. That doesn't give me a lot of hope.

The outgoing wasn't "diverse and inclusive" so it had to go according to the "wise and knowing". Given the power ceded to them already, they'll want say over the new moniker.

Without those "transplants and Sioux fans" you'd be driving quite a ways from Fargo to find a doctor, lawyer, nurse, half the engineers in the community, and a host of other professionals. What's so shocking about University of North Dakota graduates living in ... North Dakota. {gasp}

Also anecdotal, as above, but what I'm hearing is that folks are getting oil royalty checks and putting them into the bank. They aren't spending it; they aren't creating businesses and jobs; they are sitting on it. That comes from a western ND small town banker who say his deposits are rocketing up but nothing was changing on main street in his town.

You're saying that about a school that was top five in the (all sports) Director's Cup in Division II for most of the 1990s. That school is in year 3 (of 4) of a transition to Division I. It's not all going to be wine and roses right now.
