  1. Tu-Uyen Tran breaks down the numbers, and does a good job explaining the approach each school took. http://www.areavoices.com/gfhcitybeat/?blog=62036
  2. What the heck is the deal with Gopher fans putting Sioux fans into the hospital (or worse!), and in Grand Forks no less. The maroon-clad ones are making it very clear who the backward, ignorant, uncivil, uncultured, violent hicks are. May all of that ilk find that their cellmate is willing to trade them for half a pack of smokes.
  3. If you believe Ken Massey (http://www.mratings.com) right now U of Sioux Falls is ... #1 in NAIA #1 in Division III #5 in Division II #25 in FCS (formerly DI-AA) and wrap your head around this ... is ranked higher than 12 FBS (DI-A) schools. It's not the fancy "level name" you play at. It's what you do on the field that matters.
  4. Actually, UND requires ethics courses of engineering (Phil 370) and health care (Phil 372) majors. I guess that explains much.
  5. On days like this (two in a day), how hard would it be to set up a simple student promo: Come to the football game. Starting after the 3rd quarter UND stamps student hands (green ink, unique pattern) and that moves them to the front of the entrance line to the hockey game. Basically, make the waiting line for the hockey game the student section of the football game. If the students complain, tell them it's warmer and drier than outside. (You guys are so **** lucky I don't charge you for these simple ideas.)
  6. Like I said in a different thread: The mistake concerns me; the response afterwards is what I'm interested in. If Mussman doesn't figure out and begin to fix what went wrong Saturday, well, that's making the mistake twice, and that's not forgivable. If it comes to that, I know who's on the top of my short list of people: Kalen DeBoer.
  7. " ... shares Chapman's values ... " I wonder if that theme will still be there post-audits.
  8. I've said this in other circumstances on this board: The mistake concerns me; how you respond to it is what I'm really interested in. The team did not step up. They knew a good opponent was coming (52-3 in the last 55). They knew they had injuries. And yet no one stepped up. That's just selfish, just doing "their thing", not going beyond. There was no fire. They were arrogant and thought that being "D-I" means something. Well, "D-I" doesn't mean $#!+ if you don't play. Snap the ball, play to the whistle. Every down. Every opponent. The other team did. To the team: This is year 3 of the 5 year transition, the mid-point. This was game 6 of 11 of the year, the mid-point. Which way are you going from here? Will this be the mid-point of a continued downward path of selfishness and arrogance? Or will this team see this mid-point as the toe-hold to come together and move forward and upward toward something bigger? What'll we see boys: A team that just lost to an NAIA and that goes into a selfish self-pity shell, or A team that is 1-0 in the conference and still in line for a conference championship and plays for it. A team that withers or a team that steps up. Well boys, use the mirrors in Memorial and decide which team we're going to see.
  9. We didn't have healthy DLs to run a 3-4 on Saturday; how would've we run a 4-3?
  10. "C'mon Paulsen. I mean seriously, John, seriously, have you lost complete control of the Foundation? It's just a couple million."
  11. "It was the flood. Whodathunk?"
  12. "The flood" was the first given rationale for the NDSU cost overruns. What's happened to that? Can't find it anywhere anymore ...
  13. ... except in North Dakota.
  14. "The flood" was the first given rationale for the NDSU cost overruns. What's happened to that? Can't find it anywhere anymore ...
  15. "The flood" was the first given rationale for the NDSU cost overruns. What's happened to that? Can't find it anywhere anymore ...
  16. "They gave me a credit card and unfettered access to alumni cash. Lots of cash, for my wife too! What's a guy to do?" <The preceding caption is fictional, but more than believeable.>
  17. That's the only logical reason I can see behind the NDSU Foundation putting all of this on display. They have turned over all the documents that show the actions that triggered willful and knowing violations of state law. Effectively, they've turned "state's evidence"
  18. C'mon, this is so easy that it hurts. Someone has to have figured it out.
  19. CMU only has to gain approval of 1 (geographically nearest) of the 5 Chippewa/Ojibwa/Anishinabe tribes in Michigan per the NCAA.
  20. You don't. I do. From p 47 of 75, indexed as "February 2008" (Note: At this point the Chapmans are living in a temporary residence in Fargo's Osgood subdivision during construction.)
  21. redwing: I'm suspicious that Whistler is pretty close with this query. I say that because: It'd be interesting to see if that catering for seder shows up on any of those credit card histories.
  22. Since no one has answered the question so far, I will. Yes. He did. Knowingly and willfully violating a legislated spending appropriation is a violation of the North Dakota Century Code (that's state law for those of you unfamiliar with ND law). That is why budget committee legislators have used the phrase "criminal investigation". Oh, if your number is off, there is a process to "fix" it and it's pretty simple. However, that process does not involve ignoring the appropriated limit and doing whatever you want. This is an email from State Sen. John Andrist posted at Bisonville. Here are his concerns:
  23. Don't tell us. Tell the NDSU Foundation board. Tell Barry Batchellor, the chair of that board. They're the ones who cut off Joe's mad-money slush fund, not us, not UND. Allow me to ask again: Why did the NDSU Foundation willingly put out all of the details of elaborate spending when they as a private organization are not required to?
  24. Scott, Scott, Scott, ... that's the $50,000 restroom to go with the $400,000 in landscaping at the new NDSU president's residence.
  25. No, more importantly, will Vern allow unfettered access to cash and provide a salary for the missus?
