  1. So sitting down with UND officials, writing to the Governor, and even sitting down and explaining the problem with an NCAA power-grab with the US Ag Secretary (Ed Schafer) doesn't count, eh? Dang. You must've done lots more.
  2. You missed it: 1. The Augusta / K of C comparisons were to point out private clubs can make discriminatory membership rules. 2. You never answered my hypothetical situation that would meet your "member has rules changed around them" scenario. 3. You may view the NCAA policy as a "hate crime", but until you're on the Federal bench your opinion doesn't mean squat. Sorry. PS - For this single case I wish you were on the Federal bench hearing it. For just this case mind you. But my wishing that doesn't mean squat either.
  3. Disagree. BTN in HD is, ... well, HD. The other two are weak in comparison.
  4. Everyone on the ice throwing down in Kohl Center. Punches in Magness. How can UND be in two places that far apart that quickly?
  5. Gandhi? Mandella? They were fighting against governmental oppression. This is not a government entity putting UND into this position. The NCAA is a private entity making member rules, rules that may sound discriminatory, but private club rules just the same. Don't believe that's legal in America? Show me the females on this list. Another? Try being 16 years old and Jewish and joining the Knights of Columbus.
  6. I like UND because I like North Dakota, my alma mater.
  7. Cornell @ RPI on NBCSN is a better game and is in OT at 2 ... and OT ends at 2-2.
  8. Dave, let's go with a crazy hypothetical, just for you: Let's assume you're a long-time member in good standing of the Democratic Party (not a stretch). Let's say the Dems got the crazy notion that nobody named Dave or David could be a member of their private (they aren't an arm of government) organization from now on. The party voted on it at convention and it passed: No more people named Dave or David. You really don't like the notion. Actually, I think the notion is really wrong along with you. But it's their party. So you have two choices: Change your name or leave the party. What you're advocating is keeping your name and then immolating yourself to boot! Sorry, but I can't advocate immolating UND Athletics.
  9. Ramage was out of control last weekend late on Saturday and should've been shown the gate. This weekend he lays a monster hit (shoulder was very close to contact to head) and then is surprised when he's called for it? The guy's been playing out of control for a couple games. He is over that edge as Hak would say. (Hak says you play right up to that edge, but not over.) And Rumple looks terrible. The angle he gave on SCSU's second goal was awful.
  10. Yes it is, but it won't come from the inside. The best, only shot to take down the monster is Spirit Lake's. And if you'd shut down UND Athletics over two words and a picture, are you really a fan of UND Athletics. Sorry DaveK, I have even Tim Hennessy on my side on this one. (If you heard Tim's Dec 31 post-game v. Harvard you'd know I'm right.)
  11. If the Big Sky were to do the unspeakable, UND would become a pariah and no conference would touch them.
  12. Frivilous to whom? Apparently not the NCAA and they have severe influence over their members' behaviors. Look across the member schools of the NCAA. They're all run by academic liberals beholden to the NCAA. All. Every. Last. One. The only university I can think of that isn't is Hillsdale College. With your statement "I want nothing to do with anybody who supports this PC garbage" you are saying you do not want to associate with the NCAA; thus, you are saying UND should shut down athletics because there is no other option. None. (Don't say "NAIA". They don't play hockey.)
  13. I won't dispute one fact I got from that blog, namely, ... Whom are the Big Sky presidents more beholden to: the NCAA or UND?
  14. You don't want to try that tactic with me. There was a fight. You were MIA.
  15. More animal references do not construct a counter argument to fact.
  16. Yup, UND does. To me it's frustrating that UND is basically two plays (drop in the endzone v. NIU; any type of QB play on last drive v. Fresno State) from having two FBS wins. Full disclosure: UND has a serious mental block inside the Kibbie Dome.
  17. If all (except the target) Big Sky presidents vote to oust a member, that member is ousted. Period. Next. Question.
  18. I live in the here and now. The here and now is the NCAA policy is active and remains in place: no home playoff games. I'm not going to jeopardized UND on speculation about potential Spirit Lake success in court. I wish them well; I'll help their efforts; I won't set UND up for failure if they fail.
  19. No matter how I try not to, every time I read "Slingbox" I still get this mental image ...
  20. Right now (admittedly things can and do change quickly), in Massey's rankings of teams ... obviously omitting teams not of interest ... NDSU Northern Illinois Northern Iowa Sam Houston State San Diego State Wyoming Montana Georgia Southern San Jose State Minnesota Bowling Green Illinois State Montana State If UND plans to challenge for Big Sky titles against Montana and Montana State and wants to play with the big boys of FCS, yes, they should, dare I say must, be competitive with the FBS teams on their upcoming schedules.
  21. Another way the focus on outreach course delivery is important: UND named Top 3 military-friendly school in the nation for delivery of online education http://und.edu/news/2012/01/top-three-military-friendly-school-in-nation.cfm 1. Wisconsin 2. Iowa State 3. North Dakota
  22. Forget all of the other speculation and noise. What part of "NCAA sanctions: No home playoff games" do people not understand?
