  1. I didn't think you were allowed to recruit someone who is on another team's roster ...
  2. If this report is accurate, I have three words to describe the action: Low. Bid. Move.
  3. And there's chatter at eGriz: http://www.egriz.com/grizboard/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=57748&p=773316&hilit=+Fullerton+means+that+six+schools+
  4. You're thinking north and south. I think it's going to be more about east and west (specifically, Pacific Time Zone and not).
  5. The other factor in this whole WAC meltdown: What happens to Seatte U (no FB), Denver (no FB), and NMSU (FBS)? We've all be thinking "Idaho" but the others are just as screwed. I saw (somewhere else) the notion of the Poly, Davis, Sac State, Portland State, NAU, and (probably) SUU forming on their own. It would get them six for FB. Convincing EWU to come with would be football gravy*. (Convincing U of San Diego to go from no scholarship to scholarship FB and join, instead of EWU, would be better.) If they grabbed up Seattle and Denver as non-FB schools they'd be sitting pretty well for an all-sports conference. Alternatively, that'd leave Montana, Montana State, Idaho State, Weber State, No Colo, and UND, and probably EWU. Then Idaho and NMSU would have to make some tough decisions. *I have my doubts if they'd get EWU. They like playing Montana.
  6. To be sure we are all talking about the same thing: Current Exit 138 is 32nd Ave S Possible Exit 137 would be at 47th Ave S (by the KOA campground) Possible Exit 136 would be at 62nd Ave S (not much there for landmarks) Possible Exit 135 would be at County Road 6 (Ag Depot sits there; currently a bridge over I-29 there; I-29 bends NW/SE there) Grand Forks needs a further south set of ramps than the current Exit 138. Personally, looking at aerial maps, I'd say putting it at 62nd Ave S (Exit 136) would be the place: - going east you're at the south edge of Kings Walk golf course and just a mile south of the proposed outlet mall site* - go to the west frontage road and a mile south and you're at Ag Depot and that area It would be a similar setup to Exit 138 (32nd): - go east and it's retail and residential - go west and it's more industrial and agricultural Let me know when I'll be paid for doing Mike Brown's planning.
  7. I don't think that'd be an issue for Grand Forks. They have the prime corner (Columbia and 32nd Ave S) and it's also a Sam's Club there. I think this is a tip of the hand by Walmart that they see a lot of retail coming into GF from the west (and north) and want first crack at it.
  8. When the outlets went in at Albertville (MN) you had to take a rinky-dink off-ramp and drive quite a distance on a frontage road. The improved ramps came later. The same model could work in GF: build it, prove it, add the ramps later. Hey, if there's good shopping people will get there (see: Albertville). I see Walmart building on Gateway as a nice starting point to begin the process to improve the Gateway corridor from Columbia to the airport.
  9. That can be explained in one word: OIL. A lot of Bakken folks "weekend" in Bismarck.
  10. Where would you slot them in, under "UND Sports" or "Community"? Are you considering retirement of two of the forums under Community (i.e. Transition to DI and Sioux Name)? If we're considering a reorg and a remap we should look at everything.
  11. The sports section banner in Bismarck Tuesday: http://bismarcktribune.com/sports/college/und-football-ready-for-big-sky-conference/article_82673838-cfc0-11e1-96e5-001a4bcf887a.html
  12. The words "lack of institutional control" should terrify folks in State College, PA, and Missoula, MT. When, where, and how the NCAA chooses to wield them is anyone's guess.
  13. In a way I wish UND's sky was green and the lettering and mountains were black and white. Why? The sky turns green just before you are thrashed by an unstoppable force.

  15. This is the first time I can recall a July day that the most traffic on the board is in the Football forum.
  16. The list in question is the 122 QBs projected available for the 2013 NFL Draft. http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/players.php?genpos=QB&draftyear=2013&sortorder=tsxpos&order=ASC If my eyes are seeing things correctly, Hanson is #2 in FCS: FCS 1. Sorenson of SUU (#6 overall) FCS 2. Hanson of North Dakota (#28 overall)
  17. A conference with 11 full (plus 2 affiliate members) ... Where there's smoke there's fire, and this 'Idaho' smoke just won't clear: This person: "I'm a Montana native who has covered Griz football and other sports for the Missoulian since 2004." https://twitter.com/fritz_neighbor http://grizblitz.com/ ‬
  18. Fixed your post.

  20. Let's relook at that statement ... Some say the Big Sky travel is a detriment. I'd say in this case it seems that it's more of a recruiting tool and advantage.
  21. I have to correct both of us. SMU FB was shut down for two years ('87 and '88) under the NCAA death penalty. (Death penalty is when a program is shut down, otherwise the program is under sanctions.) I don't see this directly affecting PSU Hockey, but it will feel the secondary effects.
  22. UND's official green color is defined by UND under the Pantone Matching System. (Pantone is an industry standard color matching system.) UND's official green color is Pantone 347 (also known as PMS 347). You can find that here: http://www.fmrincorporated.org/misc/PColorChart.pdf
  23. 1. SMU got one year under the NCAA death penalty. One. Year. And their program is still a mess 20 years later. Presidents see that. I doubt we'll see that hammer ever used again unless we run into a situation so blatently in violation of NCAA rules that it can't be ignored. 2. Pull AAU status? I assume you're talking about this AAU and not amateur athletics. This is an athletics scandal. You don't smoke the whole university for being stupid enough to let a Napoleon-wannabe with bad glasses run the place for four decades. Personally, I don't see anything more for Penn State than a firm finger-wagging from the NCAA. Scott pointed out precisely why. However, the courts are going to send a loud and clear message. I honestly expect: - at least one of the three administrators who were involved in what was effectively a cover-up to end up in jail - a final settlement for the victims that may well approach (sit down folks) ... ten digits. I expect the damage to PSU Athletics to come from the courts via them being fiscally hamstrung making huge settlement payments for the forseeable future.
  24. The problems at QB keep coming at Montana. http://missoulian.com/sports/college/montana/coach-qb-kemp-could-be-reinstated-on-griz-roster/article_dd212478-cdfe-11e1-95f7-0019bb2963f4.html
