The way the Sioux defense played tonight, I think Phil should be the player of the game.

Or at least co-POTG.

FYI, Hill Murray 3-0 over Roseau with 12:50 left in the 2nd.

Our D was amazing....Are u retarded drunk or just normal drunk?

Sioux didn't seem to play too badly from what I saw. Too bad they couldn't convert. I'm a little concerned that the Sioux haven't scored more than 1-2 goals for a few games now. Time for an offensive explosion tomorrow.

I agree other then OT. I didn't think they played to the level they were playing earlier in the extra frame.

Agreed.

They outplayed SCSU badly in the 1st period, and had many quality chances in the 3rd.

you have to call that trip especially on a scoring chance. oh well. take the point and get 2 more tomorrow. the difference was the first period when scsu looked like a jv team and the sioux couldnt score a goal. not sure on the non goal scsu. we may have gotten one there but it happens. looks like cc is up 3-1. another 1 goal game by phil. many chanes in front of scsu net but the shots missed the net high almost every time. 16 unbeaten in a row. go sioux

Hak's post-game comments:

We came out and played very well and it would have been a shot in the arm to get one, but we didn't get one and stayed with. In the 3rd period, we had some chances, and some bad bounces. One bounced over Duncan's stick and we just couldn't seem to get that other goal.

On their PP goal, coming up ice, we backed up and got caught flat-footed. Really it was a bit of a broken play. Phil couldn't find the puck. I think he was looking at the other guy yet. It was a bang bang play and it was a good PP goal for them.

Kaip's goal showed good hustle. We need to do a better job of driving through these guys to get to the rebounds. We had a good effort tonight, but we have to play a little harder.

I don't know if the waved goal in the 3rd took anything away from us. They had some good opportunites, as did we, but no one could capitalize.

You just have to keep attacking. Entering into their zone, they pack in around the net a lot of times. You have to be alert and aware, cause with turnovers down low, they've got guys going up the ice for odd man rushes. We don't have to change a lot, we just have to get a little hungrier in those areas.

Yup. Here's a few things I noticed:

1. UND played very well in the first period. Overall, they played well enough to tie.

2. SCSU played like crap in the first period. Overall, though, they played well enough to WIN, but didn't thanks to some timely defense and JPL.

3. Weslosky needs to get a new jersey. We wore the logo out. Folks, don't get me wrong, I love the fact that we peppered the net with shots, but we have to shoot the puck either high to the corner or down near the ice. Very few rebounds come from the logo area of a good goaltender.

4. Roe can play. That pass to set up Lasch to set up Swanson's PPG was just amazing.

5. Believe it or not, I think Lasch's goal should have stood.

6. Anderson did a poor job of officiating, but it is NOT because of the missed call in OT. Everyone knows that anything but CFBs go non-called in OT. He let a TON of stuff go. The Sioux got away with a lot and so did the Huskies.

7. Malone's penalty was absolutely horrible (on the part of Malone). What purpose did slashing the SCSU player's stick serve? It wasn't to prevent a scoring chance. It was to preserve the zone, IIRC. That's nice to be able to do, but really, better to let it leave the zone and regroup than to sit for 2. Finley's penalty was crap. I'm not even sure why Anderson (SCSU player) went to the box.

8. This is now the second game in a row that we managed to tie the game up by the opposition simply making a horrible mistake near the goal. Trust me, it was nice to see Kaip play (he actually had an incredible game all things considered) like that, but if we have to rely upon that kind of stuff to get us back into games we're not going to go far. Mistakes like that just don't happen often.

We better have a better night tomorrow.

It was an "ok" game by the Sioux. The defense was a little shaky in the 2nd and 3rd period. Coughing up the puck and making errant passes. Very lucky that SCSU didn't capitalize on those errors. I was beginning to get annoyed that now whenever the Sioux forwards are down low they are always passing it up to the point for a defenseman to shoot the puck on net. Don't get me wrong it's a good thing to do but I wish they'd also try to center the puck a little more often for a forward.

With our chances of getting a share of the MacNaughton possibly dashed I think we just gotta come out tomorrow and play SCSU tough to show that we weren't just playing for that trophy but to finishing a great regular season on a high note for the seniors.

I'm not drunk at all, I distinctly remember watching our D pinch in and cause too many odd-man rushes (more than normal) and I DEFINITELY remember a plethora of screwed up break out passes that were easily picked off by St. Cloud.

I would like to clarify one thing:

I don't think the Sioux played poorly...except for one 5 minute stretch: OT.

Our D was pretty good in the defensive zone for most of the night. A few glitches (one VERY BAD giveaway by Bina... I think Chorney had a burp in there too), but pretty good overall.

Really too bad that JPL overcommitted on Lasch for the Swanson goal.

And Miller, next time you have the goaltender down and out, shoot the puck somewhere other than where the goaltender's mitt was. Seriously, Weslosky just laid there with his glove out and you hit the center of the mitt like Jace and Brad were just playing catch. Other chances were just sad (Hartman's save on Duncan was the save of the night, imo. I didn't even know he got a stick on it until the replay. I feel bad because I was yelling at my TV saying that Duncan can't afford to miss a gift like that only to find out that it was just a stick in the way that prevented the goal).

SILVER LINING: The Silver lining of this game is this: After trailing after two periods this season, the Sioux have only won 1 time. They've lost most of the times. We didn't lose.

I only remember 19-20 shots on goal so i would say our D did just fine.
