First...the FVSU website states they had four home games...

41047/4 = 10261

This would put them in fourth place overall in average home attendance.

Home games are in bold...the homes against Benedict College and Albany State University were played in Macon, GA and Columbus, GA respectively. Fort Valley State University is located in Fort Valley, GA. Sounds like they got credit for a on-the-road home game...twice.

It doesn't really matter. What does matter is that UND is down from last years attendance. GET OFF YOUR BUTTS and GET TO THE GAME.

That last playoff game with Winona State didn't help, 5,000+. I still don't think they get an accurate attendance count at the games...........UND does the attendance count.......... UND only has control over the lower bowl..etc. To me, that doesn't equal an accurate figure. I know some on here have stated that tickets are the counter which means actual butts in the seats, but I've been to games where there were very few seats open and the attendance was announced in the low 12,000's. Just my opinion.

Personally, I think that when the NCAA compiles attendance numbers, only regular season games should count. The playoffs are a completely different animal, between the Thanksgiving holiday, short time periods in which to sell tickets, potentially playing a team for a second time, etc. Look at Grand Valley's situation, as well. They averaged something like 11,800 for the regular season, and then hosted three playoff games which drew between 4100 and 5200 each. I just think it's ridiculous to penalize a team because they happened to host a playoff game or two.

That figure needs to improve to get the revenue for DI. I would think that with better teams coming to play the Sioux attendance will rise. The attendance at NDSU has increased every year since leaving D2. This years average was 16,377.

I can tell you this.....I had 2 extra tickets to the SDSU game, the day of the game the line in the Fargodome was about 90 minutes long to by tickets. When I asked if anyone was interested in bying my extra seats I was damn near trampled by salivating fans.

I think there's a series of shots you can get for this condition. Just the fact that you had a ticket, let alone two extras, says a lot about you.

The fact that they were salivating had nothing to do with the Ag College football game. All you have to do is go to the campus and you'll see most people walking around with drool dripping off their chin. I think the condition is more prevalent in the female species of the college, but it's hard to tell when so many have the condition. It would be an interesting research project to see why they all seem to congregate at one school. There are probably some Doctors from the University of North Dakota Medical School that can shed more light on this than I can, but they probably don't want to go to the campus anymore than I do.

I don't think any UND fans are or should be pissed off because NDSU football attendance is double what UND's is. NDSU was arguably the most successful DII football program of all time. It is a football school, located in a football town/metro area that also just happens to have roughly 3 times the population than that of the city where UND plays football, which is a secondary sport in that city and at that school.

NDSU and SDSU saw sharp spikes solely because they moved to DI, and I don't think there is anything that would suggest otherwise for when UND jumps up. If I were an NDSU fan though, I might be a little pissed that it took the novelty of a move to DI to create such a disparity in attendence, when Fargo has had a fan-base that is potentially 3 times larger to draw from.

I agree that the numbers don't seem all that accurate or consistent. UND's "official" regular season attendance average was just under 9600, plus however many there were in the suites.

Sorry for cutting up your post bin, but I just wanted to throw a few numbers out here. For the most part, the gap is simply returning to where it historically has been(maybe a bit more). The reason it seems to be otherwise is that your championship run and our 2-8 season were back-to-back. Here are the last ten years:

Let's see Bison Dan.. UND women's hockey which hasn't drawn flies since the program started a little while ago or Bison women's basketball which used to almost fill the BSA not long ago. Bison Dan...the pattern I just illustrated should probably concern you Dan. When Bison women's basketball is only drawing 500 more fans than UND women's hockey I think you should probably be concerned. Like I said, Dan should probably be more concerned with NDSU's problems than UND. By the way , I loved hearing your ad for the the Bison women's game with New Jersey Tech YMCA team last week. I particularly love the part where it said BIG NAMES BIG GAMES. Your marketing department does make me laugh sometimes. It just makes me want to SCREAM YELLOW.
