Most are thinking caused by CTE. Not sure if the NHL does it or not, but once a month reach out to players and former players if you need help call this number. NHL teams or the NHL Alumni Association should reach out to former players each month. Whats shocking and sad is he was carrying the torch for game 3 in Montreal. Quote

It seems like it has been a while since that happened. Is Smith injured? The last I saw he was skating off the ice holding his arm. Quote

cberkas Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago The Norse Vikings just landed and pillaged that bronze medal from the Canadians at Worlds. First ever medal in hockey at the Olympics, World championships, and WJC. I better get the torches and pitch forks emporium up to Canada as they storm Hockey Canada after a bad year in international play (the U.S. was a turd sandwich at the Worlds). Quote

I don’t know if Schlossman is hoping to remove checking from men’s hockey like it is for women’s hockey with his focus on Bettman and CTE. I get that he thinks fighting should be removed, but that isn’t going to remove CTE, as NFL players don’t fight and suffer as well. To me, players know that taking blows increases your chances of CTE, so they need to stop engaging in the kind of fighting that we saw at the beginning of the Four Nations game with Canada. Nobody forced that on anyone, and we saw that hockey can be just as exciting without it, as the Olympics were edge of seat good hockey. Bottom line for me is the players need to look out for their own health first. 2 Quote

I have no problem with checking in women's hockey, and it has made it more exciting just no open ice hits are allowed currently. All levels of hockey need to call anything to the head a major, the cross checks to the head are getting bad and happen more than checking from behind in games. Fighting in hockey has its time and place, but it is always after a clean hit or a dumb reason like 4 Nations. 1 Quote
