farce poobah
end of 2 Alberta 2, St Cloud 1 looks like Alberta will win more games than SCSU this year personally, I think its great, I wouldn't mind if SCSU lost every da$# game

redwing77
Did they all go to Robbie Earl's summer camp? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No. Earl dives when there is a stiff breeze
Taz Boy
They started calling that last year. Doesn't make sense to anyone but the refs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have no problem with this. You can get legitimately tripped or hooked, and during that infraction try to "milk it" for the refs by taking an obvious dive. The point is, you should be trying to skate through it rather than diving like a girly man. Sounds like some seriously sloppy play tonight bailed out by Jordan Parise. Even with this score, it's likely the Sioux will be getting an ear full tonight. taz
redwing77
My THree stars: 1. Jordan Parise 2. TJ Oshie (1g 1a) 3. Jonathan Toews
mksioux
Great game for Parise. Miami seemed to outplay the Sioux for the majority of the game. Hopefully the Sioux will make some adjustments for Michigan State tomorrow.
farce poobah
Jeez, imagine the carnage if we give Denver 11 powerplays edit: I don't mean to be negative, a win is a win, and I have a lot of confidence this young talent will learn fast ... 7>4
Solid game by JPar. Looks like he will need to be sharp this year until D get some experience. Off to watch CC-Maine on TV. Should be a good one. CC crushed Union last night and Maine beat Air Force. Have to say I'm going to cheer for Maine. Meet some great people from Maine at the Frozen Four and they have always been good Sioux supporters.
mksioux
13 penalties for the Sioux for 29:00. 11 penalties for Miami for 22:00.

Runninwiththedogs
Jeez, imagine the carnage if we give Denver 11 powerplays <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't worry, it's an adjustment period, it's not going to be that bad.
redwing77
TH is saying that the refs called it like the NCAA said they should.
Taz Boy
But if it's already a tripping call, then that's what it should be. If some "girly man" wants to dive and risk injury or overembelish something, let them. It doesn't take away the inital infraction. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Diving is a penalty. Tripping is a penalty. Both are called. I don't see this as being an issue. If a guy is tripped and he immediately turns around and slashes the dude who tripped him, it would be called as well. mksioux
Hak interview: 5x5 - the Sioux played "reasonably well" Young D - Adjustment to level of speed. Led to some penalties. Only one way to learn. It's not going to happen overnight. They're smart. Learn through fire. Smaby's 5 min. a little questionable. But glad to see the freshmen kill it off after that. They kept their composure. Parise allowed the young d-men to gain confidence and experience under fire. Hopefully we learn from this. "Getting better" has to be a theme for this team. Toews a little paralyzed in the first period despite his goal..feet not moving much...played better as the game went along. Can learn from losing, but learn a lot more from winning. Hak questions refs consistency. Didn't think Porter took a dive (Tim thinks he did). Hak said Porter was tired and was pulled off balance and fell. We're a year into the emphasis on officiating. As a fan, not a great game to watch, but it's the nature of the beast early on. Michigan State - good hockey team - similar to Miami, maybe a little younger. We're going to worry about ourselves. Runninwiththedogs
I'm not sure, but I think a BSU coach just got a bench minor. Oh no, too many men.
dagies
Very encouraged with the play of special teams so far. Usually we're still looking through the lockeroom for the power play for most of the early season. PK was also very effective, and Parise must get a lot of credit for that, but the freshmen appear to have been involved in a lot of penalty killing and got the job done too. Great to hear about Duncan's great pass to Oshie for the 2nd goal. Hak was very complimentary how the freshmen worked the puck on that goal. I think Lee got the 2nd assist?? The Sioux will pay for all these penalties, but they should also continue to get better as time goes on. They are building from a pretty decent position it seems.
