It appears Moore has committed to UND according to Tom Miller.    Big get- had BB offers from Baylor, Illinois and Gophers along with many Big Ten football offers.

woah. how did UND land this kid?

HA - some AAU clubs have a track record of getting kids "offers" from big time programs. These offers are not legit offers.  He played for an AAU club that is notorious for it.  Of course I could be wrong and he actually visited Baylor, Illinois, Gophers, and UND and said - I think UND the best choice.  You be the judge.

Who knows how many currently valid offers he has, but this is from the Strib last year (note the mention of Eli King towards the end):

Gophers football coach P.J. Fleck had one of the best basketball players in Minnesota in his office last weekend. Jayden Moore’s recent run of success on the gridiron for Hopkins has been so special, it earned him a scholarship offer from Fleck.

The 6-foot, 170-pound junior is a highly touted point guard prospect with basketball offers from Ben Johnson’s Gophers, Baylor, Illinois, Iowa and West Virginia. Fleck’s offer was Moore’s first for football.

Moore, who leads the state in receiving yards and touchdown catches, decided to play high school football at Hopkins this year for the first time.

“It means a lot to me with my first offer coming from my hometown,” Moore told the Minnesota Star Tribune. “[Coach Fleck’s] friends with Ben Johnson, so he knew about my basketball skills. But he thinks I have a bright future in football.”

The last Minnesota prep athlete to have offers from the Gophers in football and basketball at the same time was Caledonia’s Eli King two years ago. Before that, the last double offer came in the 2020 class with former Minnehaha Academy star Jalen Suggs, who is now in the NBA with the Orlando Magic.

Looks like Evanson, Hanson and Moore all signed today.

I know there’s hesitation with any ND kid after the Bismarck debacle but this is back to back really solid HS classes. Will they ever play here under Sather? TBD.

That’s a pretty small lineup.

This seems like a great accomplishment considering recent years. I hope this program really can turn the corner and be a competitive BB school again.

I want to see what Micah can do going forward after getting healthy.

1 - AS3 or Uelmen

2 - King

3 - Anderson

4 - Micah

5 - Jones

Off the bench: 1 that isn’t starting, Marley and Kraft.

Will need Gugas, Bothun or Erikson to fill in some minutes too but I don’t see any of them being fully in the 8 man rotation. Just my 2 cents.

Other than against Mayville, the twins have been non-existent.  They are a bit raw and need more time.

Thats why I said not sure its possible but they ran that rotation during the CSUN game and to me was the most productive.  Not to mention most fun !

I like this lineup and you are onto something in my opinion.  If you look at this lineup, and our team, our strength is dribble penetration. What you have here 1-4 is a solid dribble penetration lineup.  Uelmen and Anderson can shoot, and so can Kraft which goes well with dribble penetration.  IF Jones can truly control the paint and the boards and be strong, he can be a decent big.  Unfortunately, he hasn't done that consistently. He also has slow feet on defense and a tendency to foul (been in foul trouble or fouled out most games).  In addition, neither Guga or Jones have exactly cleaned up the glass, so we don't have that going for us (our defense contributes a little to this as well).  I don't see Guga, Bothun, or Erikson in an 8 man rotation, but I would really like to see us change up our big man philosophy as an experiment.  Build off our strength, and get our big out of the lane offensively and allow the others to do what they do best - drive or drive and kick.  So find your best shooting big (Guga, Bothun, or Erikson) and let them pull the big out of the lane - if the big doesn't leave - let them take the open 3.  I've been waiting for this to happen, and at times the big leaves the paint to set a screen, but quickly returns - get him out of there - unless Jones is going to control the paint and the ball flows through him.

For that philosophy, I think Bothun is your guy. I’ve heard he’s one of the better shooters on the team. Not sure he will provide much else though.
