UND1983 Posted January 23 Posted January 23 1 hour ago, ND-fan said: I was thinking same thing last night why would play so many of your starters with risk of injury to your starters. Two possible reasons one to keep your net rankings up as much as possible to get in as second team in Summit conference. Second to not show drop of talent in the bench on this years team. This is very good team but if you look closely getting away from starting five this team is not as deep as previous SDSU teams. Next year this will be team still pretty good but with Myer gone, Mathiowetz and Colbeck gone it is not elite team like it is now. The other three top players of Fox, Hartwig, and Vasecka are good but unless other younger players develop more they will still be top conference team but they will be beatable by other teams in conference. Now UND will probably get better if we bring couple of more talented players. I do agree I haven’t understood why Hutter hasn’t settled on rotation of players by now inseason instead of playing most of the bench. I think some of this majority of these players he has not played much basketball in last two years and wonder if this year they get chance to show if they can play and show if they play division I basketball. Ohnstad shows offensive potential but I do see some short comings on defense and have no idea what her work habits. Piekny looks like she has physical attributes but her performance from offensive side hasn’t been there this year. Miller at post has improved with two years eligibility can become effective player at post. The three freshmen of Hillesheim, Harvey, and Harris have shown they have athleticism to play a division I but if we had better talent ahead of them they should have been redshirted, Volmer can play at this level but she needs to get stronger because last night playing against older players she got pushed around a lot and didn’t have strength to finish offensively and even defensively. Fletcher hasn’t played enough hard to know much about her. Mathern can play certain role on team because her size and could become valuable asst in future. We have 5 senior players and they are here to help and teach these young players and be able finish there careers here. the reason people are still coming watching they are loyal fans and this group of players still play hard and showing they are still a team. They are also I believe they are coming to see these young players see how developing because number are the future here and many of you will be surprised how they develop over there years here. Whether Hutter will be successful will be players coming in next year and year after that if any these players develop into team like where these players came from where they were successful. Baby steps. Three paragraphs! 3 1 Quote
OldschoolUND Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Things sure have changed since summer and fall when Hutter was doing interviews and on social media like crazy! Where are the weekly press conferences? Where are the interviews after games? Fans want to know what is going on with injuries and what is the plan going forward. Hutter has also made references about his players and asking them when time are tough are they going to keep working or give up and go hide in closet. Maybe Hutter should be asking himself these questions. The little bit he does on the radio sounds like a little kid pouting. Jack basically drags Hutter along! The fans deserve better! Does anyone know if Hutter is required to do the media? THIS IS SO NAIA! 2 Quote

Im surprised there are as many people as there are there. This team is hard to watch Very tough indeed to watch at times. Mid-level D-2 talent right now at best. 2 Quote

One of them blows a knee in a blowout, not smart. I hope someday UND can remember how he made them look like a fool. Thought the exact same thing. Heck, once you’re up 30 pts in the 2nd half get the reserves in the game to get some playing time. He must like running up the score. 2 Quote

coachdags Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Went the whole 2nd quarter without a FG today, made (3 Free Throws) Offense seems to be clicking! Quote
coachdags Posted Thursday at 04:02 AM Posted Thursday at 04:02 AM Didn’t think it was a rebuild? Presser back in April Hutter said "This is not a rebuild. I'm not interested in rebuilding. We are interested inreconstructing this roster so we can compete at an extremelyhigh level immediately. By bringing in talented players" GF Herald: "In Year 1 of our rebuild, we talked a lot about culture. We had to change the culture, we had to get a culture of connectivity, a culture of family first, a culture of a locker room that people wanted to come into and not leave, and I really think we have done a very good job of that in the fact that we’re 4-16 right now, but if you were to hang out with our team, I don't think we act like we’re 4-16. We really don’t. They show up every day, they compete, they do extra work, they shoot extra, they watch extra film." 2 Quote

But if i remember you were a big Malory supporter for many years. She basically destroyed this program. Yet I never heard a bad word towards her from you. Im not happy with Hutters performance this year either. But keep in mind Mallory blew up the team and exited. You need to give him a chance. If you were a coach what should have he said ? I was given a crap team and we will suck next year until I can rebuild? Most coaches will say what he did, even if he didnt believe it. 4 5 Quote

Chaves did not like Brewster who had success, and also some faults. Mallory helped push Brew out the door! The Administration has yet to hire a competent replacement that can succeed and improve our D1 program, if that’s what we truly aspire to be? 1 Quote

ND-fan Posted yesterday at 05:38 AM Author Posted yesterday at 05:38 AM Brewster had lost the team and he had lost key players also in last few years of his tenure. He also got lazy recruiting talent and his coaching also showed this too! Then look what happen to him and after here getting disciplined for his coaching plus coaching at division III level few years ago. When he won here it was built by Roebuck who left program in position at Division I level and he hoped move on up after that but it never came and he got lazy or had bad attitude wasting talent he had then. That’s what I remember and going to the games back then. 2 Quote
Und246 Posted yesterday at 06:38 AM Posted yesterday at 06:38 AM The hysteria for bison womens basketball in Fargo continues to grow. They have a long winning streak and are in first place. They had a building filling crowd of 1200 tonight. We had a crowd of 1400 for our not quite in first half place team. Fargo must not appreciate their team as much as has been portrayed. Quote

Why did Aumer play limited minutes? She seems to be a worker and the culture Hutter wants to have, but she only played 11 minutes. She didn’t look hurt. Sad if after 4 yrs with a program your minutes get taken away for the future. Quote

Not a favorite of the New leadership? Not sure why? Voted Captain by her teammates. Did not start 1st 5-6 games. Started and we beat Wyoming! , Then couple games later had 5 three point FG in a row game- unbelievable! Now on the bench, limited minutes, and seems to always draw the rath of New HC? I agree that she seems like a good kid, hard worker, coachable, loves the game. I believe deserves minutes! but someone else obliviously feels differently. 1 Quote
