Bryn needs to find the best right shot winger he can. Strinden and Andrew are the only two right shot wings we have and I would prefer to have them in the bottom 6. I trust Bryn and what he is able to come up with. I think there is more to Gordon leaving than we think. I wouldn’t be surprised if he got cold feet because he heard rumblings about a top 6 winger committing soon. Players know way more than the general public.

I was disappointed to read the Gordon news because with how much he shoots, I think he would have been top 3 in goal scoring on our team this year, probably 10-20 goals if chemistry evolved. Especially when you could be surrounding by some of the offensive potential we have this year. Wondering if we see Kernan end up playing on the right wing instead of center at times with us being so weak over there.

But all of this may be moot if it is just a signal that we have another solid recruit coming in and none of us know it.

I believe he scored 7 goals in the CCHA last year. Anything above that in the NCHC would have been a bonus. Leaving MTU, committing to UND, and heading back to MTU in a month’s time is very odd unless he caught wind of a new UND commit or hated the previous MTU coach that much. My guess, it’s a combination of both.

Yes he had 7 goals but he had 116 shots which was about 25 more than the next closest person on his team. He’s the kid schloss mentioned a while back that based on shot location and opportunity should have had a lot more goals than what he got. Kind of the opposite of what the saves above expected goals allowed stat(I know that “what if” stats are just that but it’s still a noteworthy analytic).  He’s a right handed wing with a high upside that that loves to shoot and with a better surrounding cast would likely be a 15+ scorer for UND this coming year. But it’s all moot haha

but being #1 player on your team with a bunch of your friends at a school and city you already enjoy isn’t a bad decision for him when it’s the difference between being the #6 forward in a new place

I think the assumption is he'd be able to get as open in the NCHC as he did in the CCHA to get as many shots.  I just pictured he'd be more of a Carter Wilkie.  And I'm not knocking that, he'd be a great 3rd liner on our team but not top 6 material.
