I’m hearing those rumors too. One thing I’ve noticed…they’re adding over agers and size. Helps you win games in the short term. Hopefully we pull in a couple high enders too. Fun for the fans to track…but winning is most important I would assume

I do think Perron and OMac were soft and easy to play against in their own end. I do not think their offensive ability is replaceable through the portal but getting bigger and stronger players creates a new dynamic that UND has lacked in recent years in my opinion. 
 

If we are able to land both Gordon and Rickwood, we are a CHL/portal center away from having our roster complete.

If the rumors about Gordon, Rickwood, and McMorrow are true, we'd be one high end CHL player away from calling it a complete forward group.
Still need a dman or two as well assuming Jax will be carrying 9 D.

Someone said they heard a rumor that Smaby was going to be the associate hc and that he would flip that McMorrow from DU

"Mark Divver, the excellent hockey reporter based in Rhode Island, tweeted Wednesday: 'Asked around a bit about Ellis Rickwood (in the portal after putting up 35 pts in 39 games at Clarkson). It'll be a bit of an upset if he doesn't land in Hockey East.'"

His dad and sister both follow UND hockey. Interesting that they both would do that after he hit the portal

Divver’s sources are probably Hockey East people who are making assumptions. There is no reason for his dad and sister to follow UND on instagram if there wasn’t something happening. They aren’t local to the area and don’t appear to have any connections to the program.

We have enough 'dump & chase' defensive coaches, not a fan of Smaby's coaching in the USHL. 

Big fan of McMorrow! Hard on pucks, non-stop motor, great penalty killer. Not a lot of scoring, but a top 6 center for sure.

My source from Wayzata/Minnetonka said that McMorrow played with Zellers on Jr. Gamblers before Shattuck, & on AAA Minnesota Machine team coached by Shjon Podein. On the same line for both teams. 🤔

Also...not sure how in the know the parents of current players are...but Dylan James' mom commented on Divver's post about Rickwood and said "NCHC bound" with a green heart.  <shrugs>

Considering James is likely to be a captain or the captain next year, I would assume he would be one of the first people outside of the coaching staff to know. 
 

Also, Rickwood likely knew where he was headed before he even entered the portal a couple of days ago.

So Smaby doesn’t coach Mcmorrow ? I think Smaby if he is the one will be just fine under Jackson.

Smaby also gives us the USA Hockey connection. Has coached the World Junior A Challenge U19 team the last few years.

Will make it even sweeter when he announces he is coming to UND. Snubbing Hockey East is up there with snubbing the Gophers.
