radionews Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 Only get to a game or two a year, first one last night and I missed Scott HEnnen on the P.A.......who did it last night (fri) not too bad..
jloos Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 That was Mark Brickson. He is the career services director at the law school.

redwing77 Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 He didn't do a bad job, but I like Scott better. He makes the names and the actions a lot better... such as COL BY GENOWAY!!! or RO BBIE BIIIIINNNAAA!!!! and so on. Yeah, it's kind of superficial to base the quality of a PA announcer based on how they pronounce names and a few words (Fighting Sioux SCORING!), but apart from the fact that if they don't screw up somehow, there really isn't much else to critique. IMO
Schmitzzz Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 We aren't the only ones who like Scott....scroll down to the "Plusses and Minuses" section. INCH
SiouxperDave Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 The less we get of Hennen, the better.
siouxyeahyeah Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 The less we get of Hennen, the better. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I respectfully disagree - Hennen's got one of the best announcer/radio voices I've heard. I don't like all the crap they make him say during breaks in the action - that stuff gets old fast. But I realize he's just doing his job and it's not his fault. I was personally disappointed he wasn't around last night. The fill-in did decent, but he's no Hennen.
Hrkac_Circus Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 Whether you like him or not, Scott Hennen is one of the best in the business.
redwing77 Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 Whether you like him or not, Scott Hennen is one of the best in the business. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He does have a political radio show, but I don't care about that. I may disagree with what he has to say, but the less we hear of Scott at the Ralph the more we hear of the other guy. Scott's so much better. Imitation may not be the best idea for the backup dude, but he could show a little bit of style.
Diggler Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 The backup guy is about as exciting to listen to as The Mclaughlin Group.
#1siouxfan22 Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 Hennen is pretty good at what he does. Now if you have to sit at a jets game and listen to that guy i feel sorry for you.
Riverman Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 The less we get of Hennen, the better. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am with you on that one!! Sorry not a big Scotty Hennen fan. Hard to seperate him from the guy that used to live at the same apt. building I did so many years ago... I will leave the story there...

Hard to seperate him from the guy that used to live at the same apt. building I did so many years ago... I will leave the story there... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> From a fans perspective, his voice brings the atmosphere to a different level than when someone else is announcing. A little energy goes a long ways........it's not the same when he's gone! I agree with the concept that if Gopher fans can't stand him, then he's doing the job!
Fighting Sioux #1 Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 I am a Hennen fan....and I agree that it is not the same when he is not there. One gripe.....I LUV the "RRRRRRRRRRRoughing" I can't stand the "SCHLLLLLLashing" !!!
Diggler Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 Hennan rules if for only one reason. Juuuustin DUUUUUUUUUUUUberman
cfm567b27 Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 Whether you like him or not, Scott Hennen is one of the best in the business. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Agreed - Hennen is fantastic at what he does. Personally speaking the game and the atmosphere is lacking when he isn't present in the box.

airmail Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 Oh yeah!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The best announcing name ever!
MinnesotaNorthStar Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 My personal favorite....Kev-an SPIE-waak And I love the way he says Spirko's name...
Goon Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 My personal favorite....Kev-an SPIE-waak And I love the way he says Spirko's name... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think Hennen is pretty good at PAing. I he puts some emotion into the announcing of names. Frankly I can't stand Brian Lee Rivers. I am thankful he doesn't do hockey any more.
