I would tend to lean toward a candidate that can help bring our powerplay to the next level. Any thoughts on who might specialize on the powerplay? I would have thought being the offensive star Steve Johnson was at UND, he might be the ticket.

I talked to Johnson on Friday before the news release was posted on the Lincoln Stars Web site. He told me that he didn't get the job because it had been offered to someone else. However, that might have been an assumption on his part. The position requires a bachelor's degree and I've been told that Johnson doesn't have one. He may have been rejected because he doesn't meet the minimum requirements.

Wednesday was that last day to submit application for the job, not Thursday, as stated in the Herald article. That's why WDAZ was able to list the applicants on Thursday. Johnson was on the list. He never told me that he hadn't applied.

Interesting. You'd think that Johnson, if he has an interest in coaching college hockey, would finish his degree (if he doesn't have one). The WDAZ broadcast did say there was one more day of accepting applicants (reported on Thursday night), so apparently that was not accurate.

Anyone have a clue who is on the list? It would be nice to see who was on the list.

Eades is an excellent leader, motivator, and has the intensity to make it work.

I think if he wants the job, its his.

I agree. But the 70's porn star mustache has to go. WTF does only Highway Patrol officers can get away with those.

Speaking of the water bottle incident, does anyone know where I can get a copy of that on video along with the Jim Archibald one where he is running on the cement in his skates in the beer garden (is that the same game??). Another couple that I would like a copy of is the last game at the old ralph when Andy Schneider beat the s**t out of the poor Manitoba guy, and then the Commodore fight with Alex Brooks of Wisconsin when Commie shattered Brooks' nose. I will pay $$.

Pat Sweeney reported on WDAZ this evening that the new assistant hockey coach would probably be announced tomorrow. He said that it's likey to be Eades.

Tim and Swig were pretty funny this morning, its sounds from their information they had that it would be Eades too. Apparently, Eades is just as intense as Berry and Hak and Tim talked about the Gorilla X3 coming out between periods if things didn't go right. I think it might be a good mix.

Has another anonymous source spoken to the Grand Forks Herald? :)

Appears they are now being careful about the unnamed source quotes.

At any rate, Eades will be a super addition to the coaching staff, with some great recruiting connections in Canada, Minnesota, and the USHL.

Still odd that the WDAZ report had Johnson as an applicant, although the GFH says he did not apply.
