Guest Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 I have noticed on JPar's new mask that there is what looks to be two W's on the bottom of it. Anyone know the significance? Quote
Marty Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 I only saw one "W." I was thinking it stood for "Win." Quote
Guest Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 I think the W's were interlocked--one on top of the other. Either way, I also thought it might stand for win, but was curious if anyone knew for sure. Quote
jerseychaser1 Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 I like it on the back how it says 1/Parise/11. Do only goalies get customed made masks like that? Quote
Diggler Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 I would have to say yes. I haven't seen too many forwards with custom masks. Quote
MinnesotaNorthStar Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 I would have to say yes. I haven't seen too many forwards with custom masks. I had one made by JOFA, but then they mass produced it Anyone notice that on the left side it says "Sabres"? Quote
dunker2001 Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 Anyone notice that on the left side it says "Sabres"? It also says "Blackhawks" on the right side. I saw some more on there but did not catch what they were. Quote
BigGreyAnt41 Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 The W probably means win. I read somewhere that getting the win is more importnant to him than whatever your GAA or Save% is for any given game. Quote
MafiaMan Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 Interlocking W's? Hmnnnnn...Could it possibly mean "Whitey's Wonderbar"? Quote
Goon Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 It also says "Blackhawks" on the right side. I saw some more on there but did not catch what they were. Opposite that is Sabres too, I was wondering about that too. I guess the only way to figure it out is to ask him what it means. Quote
beg2differ Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 Well, let's start this off with what I imagine would be a pretty good guess. The teams at Shattuck-St. Mary's are called the "Sabres." Quote
beg2differ Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 And, "Blackhawks" for his Waterloo team. Quote
dobber00 Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 I have guess.......There is a company named "WARWICK" that makes goalie masks....Just a guess though! Quote
choyt3 Posted March 30, 2004 Posted March 30, 2004 Interlocking W's? Hmnnnnn...Could it possibly mean "Whitey's Wonderbar"? I had been thinking "White Westinghouse", but like your guess a little better. Quote
WPoS Posted March 30, 2004 Posted March 30, 2004 off topic slightly here, but did anyone notice the stickers Denver had on their helmets? Made me think of high school football players.... As for the "W" maybe it stands for "WHY"? Maybe it is there just to give fans something to speculate on? Who knows what goes on the in the mind of a goalie! WPoS Quote
airmail Posted March 30, 2004 Posted March 30, 2004 Who knows what goes on the in the mind of a goalie! I think we're all better off not knowing! Head cases. All of them. Quote
hockeygrl Posted March 30, 2004 Posted March 30, 2004 I have been trying to figure out his helmet for a while. Since he has an ND (North Dakota) at the top of his helmet, I am guessing that the "W" stands for Waterloo. I love the 1/Parise/11 on the back of his helmet. I noticed that Jake also has a new helmet this year. Any idea what is on his helmet? Just wondering. ~Lisa~ Quote
Basil Posted March 30, 2004 Posted March 30, 2004 It stands for "When." As in when will the ax drop next upon the head of an unsuspecting Sioux goaltender. Quote
mikejm Posted March 30, 2004 Posted March 30, 2004 I was thinking more along the lines of "weelwy, weelwy" good. Quote
airmail Posted March 30, 2004 Posted March 30, 2004 It stands for "When." As in... "when is the ss.com admin going to give us an ignore button so I don't accidentally read more of Basil's dumb-ass posts." Quote

WPoS A lot of other schools do this to a certain extent. I think Michigan does it as well as a few schools outside of our conference. They have to do with performance marks both academic and athletic I think. Either way, it's very high school. Especially on goalie masks. I love custom painted masks. I think it's one of the nicest custom gear the sport has. Quote
