I think even more nauseating is John Gilbert's article in the latest USCHO Magazine, in which he implies that the movie "Miracle" didn't spend enough time focusing on the players who were from Minnesota. Instead, players like Jim Craig and Mike Eruzione continually receive all of the attention.

BWAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!

We ALMOST won every game this season if that matters. In fact we almost were back to back national champs two years ago and we almost won 10 national championships. When you ALMOST beat Duluth, I will consider it a bigger accomplishment than sweeping the Hussies.

BURN!

rip me all you want, but the Gopher were the ONLY team to CLEANLY and W/O question win their two games....I'd think that DOMINATING a team is worth something (yes a team that is not playing well but at least we didn't have to "come back" against the dreggs of the league  )....but I guess not here....

"BURN" what a joke of a comment! I'll wait till the game is over to see if all the UND fans that are so confident of a Gopher loss to see if they eat any crow or go and hide....I'm confident my boys will win Friday night.

In 2000 when the Sioux lost a game to Denver in the WCHA best-of-three playoff series, many said it meant the Sioux wouldn't go far in the playoffs. They won the national championship.

In 2001 when the Sioux dropped a game to Duluth in the playoffs, many said it meant the Sioux wouldn't go far in the playoffs. They went all the way to the national championship game and lost in overtime.

Forgive me, WPoS, if I don't see the significance you attach to an overtime win against MTU after the Sioux swept the Huskies in two games.

Explain to me where "Almost" shows up in the points total. :)

/Hates "bandwagoneers"

Amen, Scott. It sure seems like a lot of new posters have recently shown up, and nearly all of them seem to be getting FAR ahead of themselves. Less smack, more content please.

A cocky Gopher, go figure. If you want to thump your chest like a chimp & spread your wings like a male peacock after sweeping a pathetic SCSU team, go right ahead. Gauging your team's future success on the basis of how you DOMINATED a team in disarray the last 2 weeks isn't exactly smart. GLUG..GLUG..GLUG..(the sound of the Gopher Titanic taking on water & listing 45 deg. to starboard side once they face some real competition).

May the Best teams Win

I'll be rooting for the Dogs on Friday

Looking forward to lots of Good Hockey

Can't wait for tomorrow

Praying for a SIOUXPER Weekend !!!

Our 4 lines are going to Rock & Roll & I hope - have their best showing yet !!! We have the lines & players that have grown & are playing Great Hockey !!! Our Talent has not even came close to peaking yet.

I'll predict - Between our shot blockers & Jake having his Best Weekend so far (a good warm up for the final 4) - the only thing we need is SCORING on the Power Play !!! & stay out of the BOX & this Team is more than Capable of bringing it all together - if they do - this could be one of the all time Best Sioux Teams Ever -It's all there waiting to happen

LET GO SIOUX !!!

Imply? Heck, I'll come right out and say it. That team wouldn't have been HALF the team they were without Minnesota kids and the Minnesota coach--LITERALLY. Of course East Coast bias has the country believing that we couldn't have done it without Craig (agree he played out of his mind) and Eruzione (WAYYY overrated). That's the same East Coast bias that believes Hockey East is the best and deepest league in the nation. I guess 4 out of 5 past National Championships by the WCHA somehow gets overlooked.

The truth is that the entire Gold Medal team overachieved. If you look at who went to the NHL after the olympics, I think the Minnesota connection looks pretty good. Minnesota kids are all over in college hockey...it's something the state can be proud of.

heck, if you want to call me cocky, fine. But you don't/can't get to a #2 seed with a possibility only one win away from being a #1 seed with out being a good team...or does it hurt to say that being a Sioux fan?

Yeah, it hurts to know that the Gophers' spotty goaltending & wildly inconsistent overall play will be a factor come playoff time

I was referencing your gloating about sweeping a bad SCSU team & how stupid it was to think you guys were now back to form as a result.

I agree with Phoenix!! By the way, have the gophers done ANYTHING impressive this year? Seriously, we took 3 of 4 from SC on the road with first place on the line while we had three of the worlds best young players gone playing hockey in Europe. Since then, SC has gotten progressively worse and even swept by Renssalaer-whatever.

I'm not doubting the success of hockey in Minnesota as a whole. But (for Gilbert) to complain that Minnesotans are somehow slighted year after year in the re-hashing of the Miracle on Ice comes off as petty.

I thought the whole alure of the Miracle on Ice team was because it was exactly that - a team. Right or wrong, Craig was the goalie and Eruzione was the captain, so those types will naturally serve as the faces of the team, so to speak.

Considering the movie "Miracle" is told from Herb Brooks' point-of-view, I'm not sure how Minnesota comes out slighted in this whole thing.

Besides, it's only a damn movie.

I don't know, maybe beating Michigan IN Michigan could be considered an achievement? :) And taking a game from the vaunted UND squad must be not that easy either considering what I read here....wait for it...wait...oh yah, you got three from us but we're such a pushover

But I will take my lumps, I have faith in the boys, they can, and will beat UMD...if not, I eat crow. Besides if games were decided by opinions on message boards....

This is silly, drop the puck already!

As for the movie, I thought it was fine...considering the line of "I go to the U, I play for you coach" worked for me!

Your smugness & condescending attitude typify what I despise about Gopher fans. You'd receive better responses by preaching to the choir at POI.

your inability to talk about hockey without relating it on someway to the evil Gophers adn how UND gets the shaft all the time typifies what i despise about Sioux fans.
